Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 373: Chapter 372: Its Name is - Coordinator (Part 2)

The first adjustment was very successful, even yielding results beyond Fang Zheng’s expectations. However, as he anticipated, when power was completely unleashed, individuals would experience differences in transformations due to varying infections by the Intestinal Virus.

Senju Natsuyo, even when unleashing 100% of her power, wouldn’t change in appearance. This was because the dolphin gene prioritized optimizing her brain and nervous system, resulting in almost no visible signs, and her Psionic Rank remained stable at Level 9, with the potential to reach Level 10—the standard of a High Tier Sanctuary Warrior. Fang Zheng classified Natsuyo, who wouldn’t mutate even when fully unleashing power, as a ”Cursed Child” with Mutation Level One.

The next level included Aohara Nobiru and Tina Sprout, who appeared no different from ordinary children under normal circumstances. Still, when more than 50% of their power was unleashed, parts of their appearances would change—Nobiru, possessing the rabbit gene, would grow rabbit ears and acquire heightened hearing and leaping abilities. Tina’s mutation was rather enviable—she would grow wings and possess excellent night vision, allowing her to accurately target anything within a two-kilometer radius.

Their Psionic Rank was around Level 7, with full power release boosting it to Level 8, essentially reaching the standard of a Level 1 Fanatic.

However, compared to them, individuals like Fumie Busei, a ”Cursed Child” innately possessing partial mutations, weren’t so fortunate. After undergoing an integration transformation, Fumie not only retained her cat ears but also gained an additional tail. The only consolation was that at this form, she wouldn’t exhibit a secondary mutation even at 100% power release. Moreover, perhaps due to partial genetic mutations, Fumie, like Natsuyo, possessed powerful Psionic force—her Psionic Rank consistently assessed at Level 9, but it could reach Level 10 after full power release.

But what truly troubled Fang Zheng were Mibu Asaka and Red Dew Firefly, the two holders of the insect gene.

If animal gene holders like Fumie and Tina could still retain some Cute Attribute after release, the complete unleashing of these two was rather troubling.

Upon reaching 50% power release, Asaka, with the beetle gene, would develop an armor-like chitinous shell all over her body and produce two huge curved blades on her arms. As for Red Dew Firefly, with the Oriental Snail Gene, it was even more exaggerated—her skeletal system would disappear entirely—essentially, she would take on a mollusk-like form. Though still appearing human, she no longer had a skeletal framework. Moreover, her limbs could stretch and transform at will.

Indeed, this reminded Fang Zheng of a certain straw-hatted duck...

These two had the lowest Psionic Rank among all, averaging only Level 6, reaching Level 7 after full power release. However, their Regeneration Ability was extremely formidable, with Asaka possessing Level Three, comparable to a Thunder Beast’s Regeneration Level. Firefly’s case was even more exaggerated, perhaps due to her originally high Regeneration Level, which, after integration adjustment, reached Level Four. Just one more step, and she could enter the ultimate stage of immortality, capable of regenerating from the molecular level even in the vacuum of space.

Current adjustment results indicated that nearly all ”Cursed Children” developed positively. However, due to different virus infections, ”Cursed Children,” after promoting integration, exhibited varying characteristics and power levels.

Some, like Senju Natsuyo, specialized in Psionic because of developing the brain domain.

Others, like Nobiru and Tina, combined Psionic with physical enhancement.

Wholly mutated specimens like Fumie focused on a jack-of-all-trades enhancement.

Conversely, insect gene holders seemed to have abandoned Psionic, specializing in physical enhancement instead.

Of course... the issue facing insect gene holders was... choosing between appearance and power.

As for this, Fang Zheng had nothing to say; he could only let them decide for themselves.

After all, although all ”Cursed Children” possessed immense combat capabilities, not everyone was willing to fight. For those ”Cursed Children” who did not wish to join combat and focused on logistics, it was natural not to sacrifice too much.

Once adjusted, they could no longer be called ”Cursed Children,” as this name was undeniably full of discriminatory connotations. Fang Zheng therefore gave them a new name... ”Coordinators.”

Or perhaps New Humanity would also be a good choice? Although they wouldn’t go piloting Gundams... not to mention, such things... normal technology couldn’t possibly achieve that.

Besides, the adjusted Coordinators displayed no worrying changes, such as drastic behavioral alterations or being influenced by animal instincts in their diets. After confirming the success of the first group of Coordinators, Fang Zheng brought them back to Heavenly Dao Palace.

Seeing is believing. Once he saw the power demonstrated by the first group of Coordinators and no longer had to worry about them turning into monsters due to the Intestinal Virus, other ”Cursed Children” also made their decisions, lining up to join the integration adjustments.

But Fang Zheng did not immediately transform all these ”Cursed Children” into ”Coordinators.” While everything looked normal on paper, he was well aware that data on paper did not signify everything was normal. To ensure these Coordinators were problem-free required testing them in actual combat.

In this world, battling with Intestinal Creatures was clearly a good method to train the Coordinators.

But... Fang Zheng had no intention of being Lei Feng for free in such a corrupt world, and he had no interest in those who cowered behind Magnetite Steles struggling to survive. Even if they were eaten by Intestinal Creatures, it wasn’t a major concern for Fang Zheng.

However, if the other party is willing to pay a certain price, he is not averse to offering help.

Especially under the current circumstances.

With this thought, Fang Zheng squinted his eyes. He lazily glanced at the city outside the window before turning his head back to watch the television. There, a program host with a serious expression, was holding a microphone, gazing at the screen.

”According to the Self-Defense Force’s reconnaissance, the number of Intestinal Creatures has been gradually increasing. Experts believe this to be a sign of the appearance of one of the Zodiac Belt that once caused a mass extinction — the Taurus. Why they have appeared and where they are headed is still unknown. We will continue to follow up on this report, please stay tuned...”

Zodiac Belt.

Looking at the screen displaying a dense mass of Intestinal Creatures, the corners of Fang Zheng’s mouth slightly curled into a smile. The Zodiac Belt is a collective name for Stage V Intestinal Creatures, also referred to as the ultimate bosses of this world. Their biggest common features include their immensely huge bodies, a skin that ordinary weapons can’t penetrate, and a strong Regeneration Ability. Most importantly, Stage V Intestinal Creatures are not affected by the magnetic fields of Magnetite Steles. This means that once these Stage V Intestinal Creatures invade any human city, the only outcome for that place is destruction.

According to the data, there have been eleven confirmed Zodiac Belt members, known by the code name Zodiac Twelve Signs. This Taurus is one of them. Although the TV program did not specify its destination, Fang Zheng was well aware that the direction of this Stage V Intestinal Creature was the Tokyo Region.

That’s why he was here, sipping on ’82 Lafite, while waiting for his opportunity.

”Knock, knock.”

As Fang Zheng was savoring his wine, the sound of knocking arose, prompting a slight smile from him.

”Come in.”

”Clink.”

As soon as the words were spoken, the door opened. A man in a suit entered respectfully. He looked at Fang Zheng with a gaze devoid of any spark, similar to that of a robot.

”Excuse me, are you Mr. Fang Zheng?”

”That’s me. What can I do for you?”

Fang Zheng put down his wine glass, wearing a slight smile as he watched the man. The man then took an invitation letter from his inner pocket and laid it on the table in front of Fang Zheng.

”This is an invitation from the ruler of the Tokyo Region, Your Excellency the Holy Son. There is an urgent matter and he hopes to discuss it with you.”

”What’s the content?”

”I’m sorry, the specifics are confidential, and I’m not privy to them. If you’re interested, you could directly ask His Excellacy the Holy Son.”

”That’s interesting.”

Hearing this response, Fang Zheng stood up and picked up the invitation letter from the table. Opening it, he found it to contain, just as he anticipated, some inconsequential phrases. However, its core content revolved around wanting to discuss an important matter with Fang Zheng and requesting his presence at the Holy Dwelling.

It didn’t surprise Fang Zheng that they had located him. After all, this was a developed city filled with surveillance cameras everywhere. And it wasn’t just a day or two since he had begun protecting the ”Cursed Children” in the name of Heavenly Dao Palace. Indeed, it would be a complete failure if a ruler of the Tokyo Region didn’t know what he looked like by now.

But this was also good; let me see the choices this world makes.

With this thought, Fang Zheng’s lips slightly curled up again, then he tucked away the invitation letter and looked at the man in front of him.

”Lead the way.”
