Naruto: Becoming the Soul King

A few more days passed.

Today was the day the Chunin Exams officially began.

This year’s Chunin Exams were rather special, shinobi villages large and small from across the ninja world had all taken part.

It was the largest Chunin Exam in history.

Of course.

The ones drawing the most attention were naturally the Five Great Shinobi Villages.

Konoha, Kumogakure, Iwagakure, Sunagakure, Kirigakure.

The Genin of the five strongest shinobi villages in the ninja world were participating at the same time.

Naturally, it was full of hype.

Even some famous figures of the ninja world were paying close attention to it.

They had decided to come and watch.

During the Chunin Exams, Konoha would without question be extremely lively...

At the Yūhi household.

Seiryū had gotten up early.

Well, he had been woken up by Kurenai.

With her single ponytail tied up, and looking even cuter than before, Kurenai stood in front of Seiryū’s bed with her hands on her hips.

Puffing up her cheeks, she said, ”Hurry up and get up, don’t tell me you want to be late like Obito too? You’re someone who’s going to take the Chunin Exams!!”

”Got it...”

Seiryū yawned.

Glancing at Kurenai, Seiryū said speechlessly, ”Then why aren’t you going out yet? I need to change clothes. Don’t tell me you want to look at my body?”

Kurenai’s cheeks flushed red, and she hmphed lightly. ”Who wants to look? You big pervert, you always sleep without clothes on!”

”Hurry up and get up, I’ve already made breakfast!”

She glared at Seiryū, and after saying that, she left the room...

”This little girl...”

Seiryū could not help letting out a laugh.

He did not delay either.

After getting up, getting dressed, and washing up, Seiryū came to the dining table and sat down.

Shinku looked at Seiryū. ”Awake?”

Seiryū said, ”Yeah, later I still have to go meet up with Kakashi and Uncle Duy.”

Shinku continued, ”Today is only the written exam, so I assume it shouldn’t be any problem for you. I heard a lot of the questions were selected from the ’question booklet’ you put together.”

”The only thing to worry about is whether your teammates can pass the written exam...”

The written exam questions for the Chunin Exams had been selected from the question booklet Seiryū had put together before.

That really was something else.

Wouldn’t this mean Seiryū could pass with his eyes closed?

The only concern was the members of Seiryū’s team.

”That bad woman already told me the specific details. The written exam tests a Genin’s ability to gather intelligence, in other words, their ability to cheat.”

Seiryū said indifferently, ”Kakashi can probably write the answers even without cheating, so I don’t need to worry about him.”

The written exam was nothing difficult for either him or Hatake Kakashi...

After a pause, Seiryū said, ”As for Uncle Duy... hmm, I’ll just use a genjutsu on him to control him into answering when the time comes.”

The Chunin Exam process was more or less the same as the Chunin Exams of the Konoha Twelve in his memories.

The written exam at the beginning, the Forest of Death second stage, the later one-on-one preliminaries, and finally the official matches to decide the winner.

If there was any difference.

It was that starting from the preliminaries, it would already be a public tournament open to spectators.

This had been strongly requested by the other shinobi villages, who had their own intentions.

”As long as you’re confident, that’s good.”

Shinku still trusted Seiryū quite a lot.

When Seiryū was not acting up, he was very reliable. Since he said he was confident, there should be no problem.

”You mustn’t lose. You’re Konoha’s strongest genius, a lot of people are watching you!”

Kurenai spoke quietly from the side.

Her tone carried a certain amount of nervousness.

The Chunin Exams were dangerous to begin with, and every year people died.

She believed in Seiryū’s strength, but this Chunin Exam was a bit different.

There would be talented Genin from other shinobi villages participating.

It would be even more dangerous than previous Chunin Exams.

She really did not want to see anything happen to Seiryū!

”Can you have a little more confidence in me? As long as a Jōnin doesn’t show up, ordinary Chunin can’t withstand even one of my Rasengan. If one isn’t enough, I can always throw another one...”

Seiryū glared at Kurenai.

She actually thought he might lose?

What a joke.

He had already fought Kage-level experts, so wasn’t a mere Chunin Exam something he could handle with ease?

The geniuses of the other shinobi villages?

What kind of trash fish and rotten shrimp were they?

Did they even understand the weight behind his title as the strongest genius!?

”It’s not that I don’t have confidence in you.”

Kurenai muttered.

Then she said seriously, ”I’m just telling you to be careful. The second stage in the Forest of Death has no rules. People from the other shinobi villages might team up to deal with you.”

Seiryū’s title as Konoha’s strongest genius was publicly recognized in Konoha.

A lot of people knew about it.

As long as the other shinobi villages had done even a little investigation, they would definitely know about Seiryū’s existence.

He might end up being targeted by everyone working together, that was what she was worried about!

Seiryū smiled. ”Then there’s even less to worry about. If they dare target us, as many as come will die. Even if the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist took part in this Chunin Exam, they’d still get kicked into an auspicious trio...”

What was called a dimensionality reduction strike?

Might Duy taking part in the Chunin Exams was exactly that kind of dimensionality reduction strike.

They naturally knew the reputation of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, they were Kirigakure’s elite Jōnin.

There were even rumors that if all seven joined forces, they could conquer a small country in a single night...

Shinobi like that naturally could not possibly participate in the Chunin Exams.

What left them speechless was the confidence Seiryū had from who knew where.

Well.

They did not know Duy’s true strength.

After finishing breakfast.

Seiryū and Kurenai left the house and headed toward Kakashi’s home.

On the way.

The two of them ran into Nohara Rin.

Kurenai waved at her good friend, Rin.

Rin revealed a cute smile. ”It’s Seiryū and Kurenai. Are you heading to Kakashi’s house?”

Seiryū nodded. ”Yeah, what are you doing here?”

Rin blushed and said a little shyly, ”Um, I was planning to go look for you. Today is the day you’re taking the Chunin Exams, so I was going to cheer for you and Kakashi!”

Seiryū smiled. ”Then come along with us.”

Just like that.

The two became three.

Very soon, they arrived at the Hatake household.

The one who opened the door was Hatake Sakumo. After seeing the three of them, he revealed a faint smile. ”Kakashi is eating right now, come in and wait for a bit.”

”Okay, Uncle Sakumo.”

After greeting him.

The three of them walked into Kakashi’s house and sat down on the sofa in the living room.

Not long after, Sakumo came over carrying some snacks, then smiled at Seiryū. ”Are you confident about this Chunin Exam?”

Seiryū said, ”There shouldn’t be much of a problem.”

”That’s good. This time, your team is carrying a mission too, so don’t be careless.”

”I won’t. I won’t lose.”

”Mm, very good, do your best. I’ll go watch when the time comes too.”

”We’ll put on a good performance.”

Watching Sakumo leave, Seiryū fell into thought: ’The White Fang incident from the original story didn’t happen. It can’t be that the time hasn’t come yet, so it looks like because of my existence, the plot has gone through some subtle changes.’

The White Fang incident in the original story had also been an extremely sensational event.

It had even driven Konoha’s White Fang, Hatake Sakumo, to commit suicide.

That was obviously not normal.

Someone had definitely been scheming behind the scenes.

Mm.

Seiryū felt it was the handiwork of that nabekage, Shimura Danzō. It was exactly the sort of thing he would do.

He had done quite a few rotten things.

But now there was no sign of the White Fang incident appearing.

A reasonable conclusion.

Was that it was because of him, this little butterfly!

The flapping of his wings had already changed quite a lot of things.

The butterfly effect was unreasonable like that!

It was even possible that in the future the Fourth Hokage would become that bad woman Tsunade, and that his relationship with that bad woman would deteriorate completely.
