System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Lu Cheng finally found time to enjoy a luxury boxed meal.

It was already past three o’clock.

Dai Linfang, having finished handling the patient with debridement and suturing, pushed the door open and glanced at Lu Cheng, his tone amused: ”You’re really a busy man, a meal can take you several hours.”

Lu Cheng ignored Dai Linfang’s tone: ”It’s good to have something to eat.”

”What’s the plan for tonight?”

”Liu Nongqiu is already considering whether to have barbecue rice tonight.” Dai Linfang sat down and slid open his phone, accompanied by the sound of dance music from a young lady.

He lowered the volume, speaking casually: ”Suturing technique is really impressive, someone like me can actually manage to perform Spleen Preservation Surgery barely.”

”At the start, what made you think you could do it this way?”

Dai Linfang’s expression became respectful.

Although he was in the pancreas and spleen surgery during his Ph.D., his mentor Professor Huang was in charge of pancreatic-related diseases.

In top hospitals, the subdivisions are more detailed, focusing only on pancreas, with a constant stream of cases, and they need to line up.

No time to deal with diseases related to the spleen.

To be precise, Dai Linfang is unfamiliar with spleen-related surgeries, usually it would take at least one to two years to learn spleen repair surgery step by step.

Lu Cheng’s expression was natural: ”You are now asking me where the initial inspiration came from?”

”How would I remember? It’s been almost half a year.”

”It certainly wasn’t a dream.”

Dai Linfang nodded: ”I’m not concerned about what your inspiration was, I’m asking what preparations you made before this.”

Dai Linfang put down his phone, examining Lu Cheng’s gaze which began to grow complex: ”Can you be more professional?”

”With your research background? How could you innovate and create so many suturing techniques?”

”Even heaven isn’t fair, the last thing it values is rewarding hard work.”

This question had been lingering in Dai Linfang’s mind for a long time.

Did Lu Cheng have research accumulation?

He hardly had any research accumulation!

Yet, how could someone like him create suturing techniques?

Among those skilled and original in suturing techniques and surgery domestically, isn’t each one a seasoned clinician with high research talent?

Lu Cheng took a bite of his meal, his eyes brightened: ”Are you starting to get jealous?”

”Haven’t you said before, this is called resource integration ability!”

Dai Linfang sighed, his explanation starting to get detailed: ”This is my brainstorming, you can’t expect everyone to brainstorm like me?”

”Lu Cheng, have you thought that these things of yours ultimately need to face actual clinical practice, facing other peers.”

”So, when you show off sharing these things, you also need to consider how to share them.”

”Organize and describe the causes and consequences comprehensively, with evidence, that’s most appropriate.”

”It’s not that someone who’s jealous of you must find fault with you, but you surely don’t want to always be labeled as relying on dumb luck, right?”

”We must convince people with our strength, as well as with virtue.”

”Only having outstanding personal ability, without knowledge that’s transferable, isn’t that valuable.”

”It’s not just about suturing techniques, but also the thought process, inspiration, process, and all the details involved in thinking about innovative suturing techniques...”

Dai Linfang expressed his intention clearly.

Proving to others that you’re impressive, and proving to others that you can teach someone else to be impressive, are different concepts.

The former is unattainable, the latter is grounded in reality.

”I don’t know, if I did I wouldn’t keep it secret.” Lu Cheng shook his head.

The improvement of these techniques relied entirely on the ’panel’ integration ability, having little to do with himself.

With the hints provided and the breadth of knowledge reached, those techniques naturally appeared on the panel.

”Indeed. Some things are essentially flashes of inspiration, non-reproducible and non-transferable.”

”Just like blind operation for hemostasis, entirely reliant on talent.”

”I was too greedy.”

Dai Linfang continued: ”You keep eating, just consider I didn’t ask anything.”

After saying this, Dai Linfang lay down.

...

The next day.

Lu Cheng slept well and got up, it was already 7:20.

Turning his head to look, Dai Linfang’s gentle snoring was still steady, and Liu Nongqiu was not in the resting room.

Opening the door to go out, Liu Nongqiu was sitting in front of the computer using his phone, his lowered head showing a fond smile, unsure what he saw.

Lu Cheng’s door-pushing action was somewhat loud, disturbing Liu Nongqiu, who raised his head and quickly said: ”Director Lu, I’ve ordered breakfast.”

”I saw that you and Brother Dai were sleeping soundly, so I didn’t ask your opinions.”

Hearing this, Lu Cheng nodded: ”Please send me yesterday’s bill later...”

He is currently the ’person in charge’ of the trauma center, with both inherently high pressure and the highest performance coefficient in the trauma center.

Coupled with the main surgeon’s performance, Lu Cheng’s salary is surely several times that of Liu Nongqiu and others.

Under such circumstances, having Liu Nongqiu and others treat him would be somewhat unkind.

”Alright.” Liu Nongqiu wasn’t polite.

However, Liu Nongqiu added: ”Director Lu, at six in the morning, Director Xiang from the hand surgery department came by once.”

”He asked me where you were, I said you were sleeping, and he left again, no idea if he was looking for you for something.”

Xiang Dahong is on the second-line shift today, and if the hospital encounters limb replantation surgery that the first-line shift can’t handle, he must be ready to take the stage anytime.

”Okay, I know. I’ll contact him later.”

”How was last night’s situation?” Lu Cheng asked.

”Last night was fine, three came in for debridement and suturing, all superficial cuts.” Liu Nongqiu stood up, taking out his phone.
