System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Okay, no problem!~”

”Dr. Lu, the reason I’m telling you this today is that I hope, when conditions permit, you can mentor others more.”

”We have received the feedback you provided to our leadership.”

”Indeed, we’ve considered the actual situation.”

”The trauma center is newly established, not very large in scale, and the personnel sent there seem like they’re just making small contributions.”

”These things can all be adjusted over time; we are also conducting a recruitment of young doctors who are willing.”

”Young doctors who have ideas, motivation, aren’t afraid of hardship, have passion, and want to learn, if they are willing to come to your trauma center, our hospital will facilitate mutual connections.”

At this, Huang Chunhai sighed lightly: ”Dr. Lu, do you understand what I’m saying?”

Lu Cheng thought for a moment, nodded and smiled: ”Dean Huang, I came out the same way, of course I understand.”

”Before coming to the State People’s Hospital, I stayed at a specialist hospital in the county for five years!”

”Thank you, hospital leadership, for negotiating a path for ordinary people like us.”

Huang Chunhai, as a leader, as the hospital dean, not only needs to see the immediate relations within the hospital but also those outside of it.

Those connected can learn technology and access resources, but for those without connections?

Doctors with capability can enroll in training courses to learn technology.

And those without money and connections?

Do they just wait to die?

Huang Chunhai shook his head: ”Your trauma center isn’t necessarily a good thing, otherwise it would have been used up by now.”

”Of course, for some people, the trauma center can aid their development.”

”But ultimately, it comes down to what we’ve brought to the patients, to the city, to this land.”

”Consider this.”

Lu Cheng wouldn’t just consider it.

Sometimes, these leader’s words certainly seem to be about passion!

But Lu Cheng knows that some words of passion are the essence of the great way.

Especially words about grounded passion.

He didn’t ask Lu Cheng to talk about devotion or to sacrifice himself and neglect his family for everyone.

He simply discussed what specifically one brings to this land.

What does this mean?

This is a resume, it’s the history of development for a region, it’s the documented developmental process, it’s the recorded evidence.

In the bones of Hua Country people, there’s always something most passionate hidden.

If someone really ends up being remembered by many, it’s not just your achievements, but definitely your ”Amulet”!

”Thank you, Dean Huang, for the guidance. I’m just someone who specifically does things, who can’t quite understand these principles.”

”I don’t understand development planning either; I just assess my personal abilities. When patients come, I do what I can.”

”For what I can’t do, I can only learn from other seniors and accept the whims of fate.”

”As for other things, I haven’t really thought about them.” Lu Cheng responded quickly, sharing his thoughts.

”You haven’t thought about it at all?” Huang Chunhai studied Lu Cheng’s expression and actions with his eyes.

Lu Cheng’s gaze was clear. He nodded slowly.

Compared to what Huang Chunhai said, Lu Cheng preferred discussing research and technology, rather than talking about achievements.

Seeing Lu Cheng’s expression, Huang Chunhai knew Xiangzhou had nothing that could hold Lu Cheng.

Lu Cheng was an honest and simple person.

What his eyes saw was practical yet held some passion.

His focus was on professionalism; knowledge was his guiding light on the road to progress.

It’s not about being an associate chief physician, or some other position.

He hadn’t even thought about leaving his name behind in such a significant way, nor had he considered future development!

If you keep someone like him at Xiangzhou People’s Hospital, without providing a platform for him to grow, you’d be harming him.

Causing harm is never something to be done.

This isn’t the direction a competent leader should consider.

No matter which position or person you arrange, if possible, you should always consider the appropriateness and purpose of both.

”Dr. Lu, if there’s nothing else, you should go back to your work.”

”I have to return to the department and handle some matters there,” said Huang Chunhai, stepping back from the conversation with Lu Cheng.

”Okay, Dean Huang, I won’t interrupt you then.” Lu Cheng chuckled and nodded, pausing in his step.

Then he turned and quickly pressed the elevator’s up button to halt it: ”The elevator’s here... Dean Huang, take care.”

Lu Cheng carefully reflected on the entire encounter with Huang Chunhai and concluded it wasn’t likely that Huang Chunhai was deliberately waiting for him, so he didn’t dwell on it.

As a leader, if Lu Cheng were in Huang Chunhai’s position, he would also prioritize attracting and drawing in talented juniors and subordinates.

...

As Lu Cheng walked back to the trauma center, his idle thoughts were shattered by the sobs of family members and Chen Fang’s straightforward announcements.

The voices of Chen Fang and the family were coming from the direction of the emergency room...

”External chest compressions have continued for forty-five minutes, the patient still shows no signs of life, as of April 16th, 2024, at 13:15, the patient’s resuscitation efforts have failed!~” This was Chen Fang’s declaration.

”Línlín!~”

”Línlín!~” A crowd of people, unable to believe Chen Fang’s words, stopped sobbing and rushed forward.

Lu Cheng merely glanced from the doorway, frowning deeply.

At this time, the emergency room was crowded with beds, the spots beside the beds were packed with lab coats.

The patient’s family members were also tightly packed.

Opposed to the family members crying by Chen Fang’s bed were cries of ”Mom” from the internal medicine team next door.

Lu Cheng took a moment to glance at the girl beside Chen Fang; she seemed to be around the size of a teenager, with a youthful face but pale complexion!

This wrist was whiter than jade and even describing it as creamy white wasn’t accurate enough.

Her trachea had been cut open, yet it didn’t change her status of death.

Her parents looked utterly desperate now, their expressions deeply pained, yet she lay there peacefully, unmoved, as if an emotionless tombstone...

Lu Cheng merely glanced around and quickly backed away, not approaching to ask what had happened.

With so many patients in the emergency room, the trauma center he was part of was likely also crowded.

Truth be told, Lu Cheng’s guess was accurate.

There were many patients in the trauma center, and there was a long line at the entrance of both procedures rooms; but due to Dai Linfang returning from surgery, both rooms were already fully operational and busy.

Therefore, even people in line were left waiting.

No one could predict there would be nine trauma patients lining up simultaneously at the State People’s Hospital.

The trauma center wasn’t equipped with a third procedure room.

Lu Cheng quickly approached, his tone tense: ”Dai Linfang, what’s happening?”

”A piece of mall glass fell… There are many minor trauma patients but only two are relatively serious.”

”Most others are here, with some having gone to emergency surgery.” Dai Linfang didn’t even look up.

”In the emergency room, a young girl lost her vital signs on the way, and another has already been sent to the operating room...”

”Our trauma center here isn’t facing major issues, so I didn’t call to disturb you.”

”Have you eaten?” Dai Linfang asked.

Lu Cheng glanced at the crowd of curious and eagerly looking patients in line and gulped down some saliva: ”Not yet, with no procedure room available, I’ll go eat first.”

If it’s necessary for emergency intervention, meals can be skipped.

But with these people in line for minor injuries outside, it won’t lead to any significant problems even if they wait for a few hours; Lu Cheng won’t need to neglect his own hunger.

Lose vital signs while en route?

Lu Cheng’s thoughts began to wander...

For a crush injury patient, losing a limb is sometimes the worst that can happen; usually, there’s no life-threatening danger.

For a spleen rupture patient, as long as it’s treated quickly, it’s just about losing a spleen, and they’ll survive.

But some conditions, when encountered, only lead to death...

For instance, liver rupture, aortic dissection, and more...

With these thoughts, Lu Cheng entered the rest area, opened a boxed meal, and started to eat quickly.

However, after just a few bites, the phone on the table rang; it was Huang Haibo: ”Lu Cheng, where are you?”

”Rest area, eating.” Lu Cheng replied hurriedly, mouth half-full, unable to call him Director Huang.

”If you have time, come to the operating room, ECMO!~”

”This patient’s procedure is a bit tricky...”
