System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Late night, 2:23 AM.

Xiangzhou People’s Hospital, Emergency Resuscitation Room.

The resuscitation beds are surrounded by doctors in white coats and green scrubs. Inside the resuscitation room, the footsteps of nurses are hurried, the wheels of carts moving quickly.

Sounds overlap in chaos—

”Blood pressure 79, blood oxygen 89%.”

”The blood from the blood bank has arrived.”

”The venous line is established.”

”The trachea has been cut open, ’Y’ tube inserted...”

Lu Cheng shouted from the left resuscitation bed, ”Dai Linfang, come over!”

”The major artery is dealt with. Handle the mesenteric artery!~ Let’s switch places.”

Dai Linfang didn’t respond, Lu Cheng dared not leave easily, he shouted again, ”Dai Linfang.”

Dai Linfang’s muffled response, his voice annoyed, ”Don’t bother me!~”

Liang Jianhong, working the same shift with Tian Zhiliang, asked, ”Director Lu, can I attempt to manage the mesenteric artery bleeding, you go over and assist.”

”That patient’s condition is also quite bad, Dr. Dai cannot easily step away.”

Lu Cheng nodded, his voice honest but straightforward, ”Brother Liang, just stuff some cotton pads in.”

Liang Jianhong hesitated slightly, feeling somewhat offended but after a pause, he obediently complied.

If his basic skills were as refined as Dai Linfang’s, he would have already started handling it, if he had Lu Cheng’s skills, Lu Cheng wouldn’t need to help.

Tian Zhiliang and Dai Linfang were resuscitating another patient with an open lower abdominal injury.

Lu Cheng turned around, immediately striding to the adjacent emergency cart, discarding his gloves and putting on a new pair, ”Make some room for me.”

Everyone was familiar with Lu Cheng’s voice as he came from the resuscitation room.

The junior nurse, with her back to Lu Cheng, didn’t identify the direction, a nurse urgently said, ”Chen Wanwan, step aside, make room for Director Lu.”

Lu Cheng snapped the gloves with a loud smack as he approached.

Dai Linfang and Tian Zhiliang were collaborating on a direct abdominal exploration for bleeding control. The blood pool wasn’t deep, but it kept flowing, indicating a subtle balance between bleeding and vacuum suction.

Major bleeding control was effective, comprehensive bleeding control was ineffective.

”Can’t find it!~” Dai Linfang cursed, voice urgent and irritated.

He was anxious the patient would die soon, frustrated at his own incompetence, always unable to cross that last threshold of blind procedural bleeding control.

That threshold, reliant on talent, only attainable through enlightenment, an indescribable ’epiphany’ layer.

”Give it to me!~” Lu Cheng said.

”The blood has been transfused, blood pressure is still only 73. The blood bank has long been critical.” A nurse said.

Tian Zhiliang turned his head, voice cold, ”When has the blood bank not been critical? Call them, tell them, if they don’t hurry, we’re just waiting for death!~”

A clever woman cannot cook without proper ingredients.

No matter how skilled the doctor, in cases of hemorrhagic shock, without transfusions, all is futile.

Without surgical instruments, how can a surgeon treat an aortic dissection? Pray for a miracle?

The scope of practice doesn’t align.

These are not Lu Cheng’s concerns; after taking the instrument from Dai Linfang, a quick probe found the two tiny arterial ruptures, precisely isolating them with a cough.

Dai Linfang hesitated for a moment, then diligently began closing the bleeding with hemostatic clamps.

The surface of the blood pool immediately subsided significantly.

This indicated that the major and medium anterior abdominal bleeding had been managed, the remaining oozing was not a current priority.

And based on Lu Cheng’s Physical Examination Skill’s tactile sensation, Lu Cheng planned to extend the next step of hemorrhage control to the retroperitoneum...

That’s exactly what Lu Cheng did, unsurprisingly, upon opening the retroperitoneum, he found the blood-soaked bladder.

This was a traumatic rupture of the right ureteral artery.

The vessel wasn’t large, but the hematoma was already substantial!

After addressing it, the retroperitoneal hematoma immediately lost its source of bleeding; Lu Cheng handed this over to Dai Linfang, then turned to address the anterior abdominal oozing.

The nurse brought good news, ”The blood bank said they’ve just received blood, they can send some over, but the ICU and operating room are demanding too, only 200cc.”

”Have them send it over quickly.” Tian Zhiliang agreed and instructed.

”Quickly send however much you can, two trauma patients just arrived in the resuscitation room, both are extremely critical!~”

”We’re just short of blood to potentially save the patients.” The on-duty nurse, experienced, directly shifted the pressure over.

If Lu Cheng were from another department, he probably wouldn’t like this nurse.

But Lu Cheng, being from emergency, found such a nurse sister very endearing.

Lu Cheng glanced at her; in her thirties, her face round, not stunningly beautiful, but very cute, efficient in work, with a youthful but humble demeanor.

After managing about four bleeding points, Lu Cheng quickly told Tian Zhiliang, ”Brother Tian, the posterior abdominal ureteral artery, splenic artery, complete splenic rupture, inferior mesenteric artery, internal femoral artery branch, cardiovascular, general surgery have arrived, remember to handover...”

”You’re not going?” Tian Zhiliang instinctively hoped Lu Cheng would operate.

Lu Cheng had already taken off his gloves again, ”The situation over there is more urgent.”

In the resuscitation room, two resuscitation beds could be side by side, allowing Lu Cheng to move back and forth.

It’s different in the operating room; Lu Cheng could only operate in one at a time.

”Alright!~” Tian Zhiliang agreed.

Lu Cheng returned to the left resuscitation cart, put on a new pair of gloves, then took the instrument from Liang Jianhong’s hands, removing the cotton pads and gauzes he packed in for hemostasis one by one.
