Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Through the vast black mist, Yang Yu reunites with the main force.

Under the command of Icaro Flo and other members of the ”Corpse Collection Coffin,” the expedition team methodically captures and purifies the powerful spiritual bodies surging around them.

Without Yang Yu’s maneuvering and command, the organization occasionally encounters some issues, but among the participants in this expedition are quite a few exceptional talents, and even when small problems arise, they prevent them from escalating.

Thanks to this, the team sustains almost no losses and remains intact.

Yang Yu is very satisfied with this and immediately immerses himself in combat, maneuvering around the edges of the team and injuring the approaching spiritual bodies without offering much direction.

Icaro Flo senses a strong spiritual body in the direction from which Yang Yu and the others have come, ready to speak, when Yang Yu instructs Icaro Flo not to waste time and effort on that spiritual body until it actually decides to attack.

The powerful spiritual body remains in the black mist, showing no signs of attacking, and Icaro Flo decides to heed Yang Yu’s advice, withdrawing attention from that spiritual body.

Iyas draws her bowstring, forming a light arrow in her hand.

Using Hualan to complete her aim, Iyas’s light arrow pierces through the long sky.

The spiritual body Iyas targets is the Zero Technique. The light arrow stirs a storm within the black mist, instantly obliterating countless spiritual bodies, yet the strong Holy Light is easily dodged by Zero Technique.

Arriving at Iyas’s side to explain the situation, Iyas also follows Yang Yu’s suggestion to ignore Zero Technique and continues detonating her Holy Light in the vast black mist, dispelling it.

As time passes, the black mist that covered the sky lowers somewhat.

Flying in the sky, Bai Jin surveys the earth, and the black mist spreading over the mountain peak begins to contract, revealing some barren land.

The speed of stitching together the black birds with the black mist also decreases as the black mist weakens.

The number of black birds diminishes from overwhelming at the start to a manageable extent for half the mage troops.

Leaving behind half the personnel to handle the incoming black birds, Bai Jin leads the rest to concentrate, chanting magic.

Several massive magic arrays form in the sky almost simultaneously, each array spewing dazzling currents, and terrifying thunder strikes fall from the sky, exploding within the black mist.

The magic strikes, and the black mist continuously surges, seemingly conscious, trying to retract to avoid the lightning directed at them.

However, the rapid lightning magic makes it impossible for the black mist to avoid the thunder exploding within it, despite its strenuous efforts.

A large number of weak spiritual bodies, under the damage of the fallen thunder, turn into sparks and disappear completely.

Some spiritual bodies burrow into the ground to hide, only to be thoroughly eliminated by the magic penetrating the earth.

Through the relentless efforts of the mage troops, the black mist rapidly contracts at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Seizing the opportunity, the expedition team takes the initiative to strike, attacking clusters of black mist around them.

Unable to escape in time, spiritual bodies within the mist flee wildly.

The expedition team cautiously pursues, ensuring their safety while wielding Holy Light and magic to drive away the mist and exterminate the powerful spiritual bodies within.

Time slips away like a fleeting moment.

The sky gradually brightens, the darkness not yet fully receding, leaving only a few clusters of shivering black mist on the ground.

Some spiritual bodies emerge from the black mist to attack the expedition team but can no longer cause trouble for Yang Yu and the others.

After confirming that the remaining black mist poses no threat to the team, Yang Yu commands:

”Rest on the spot. Those whose names I call, go reconnoiter the caves we uncovered yesterday.”

Upon hearing Yang Yu’s voice, several soldiers with barely passing strength collapse onto the ground, feeling as though this battle has drained a lifetime’s worth of energy.

The others simultaneously let out a sigh of relief.

Many don’t immediately rest; unsure whether simply resting is wise, they start realizing the Curse Sect’s intent behind deploying the black mist.

If the Curse Sect is indeed buying time, they cannot afford to waste time here.

Several people suggest Yang Yu enter the caves immediately to capture the Curse Sect, only for Yang Yu to dismiss their idea with a few words, making them obediently rest in place.

Equipped with a panel, Yang Yu knows better than anyone the status of each person present.

Life Value and magic power can be replenished with various potions, but mental exhaustion cannot be cured with potions, especially those who have lost close companions; they must be consoled and taught to transform their grief into strength.

With a few mages and spiritual ability users whose mental state is still decent, Yang Yu instructs Iyas to lead them in scouting Bai Jin’s uncovered cave condition, while calling the liaison officer to quickly report the recent occurrences to the Teren Republic officials through a crystal ball.

In the capital of the Teren Republic, there are numerous matters that need handling, and over the past two days, every official has been sleepless and exhausted.

Just placating the citizens and deploying personnel alone causes them significant headaches, not to mention the possibilities of the Evil Dragon’s offspring landing and the Demon King Descent.

Despite their fatigue, upon receiving Yang Yu’s report, the Teren Republic officials still assemble as thoroughly as possible to listen.

Upon hearing the damage figures, many officials from the Teren Republic furrow their brows.

The area Yang Yu’s team intends to enter is a relatively isolated mountain range, and before encountering the Curse Sect’s believers, so many personnel are lost... If something happens upon entering the Curse Sect’s territory, it’s quite possible that the whole force could be wiped out.

Many officials remain silent, wavering slightly on whether to continue the expedition against the Curse Sect.

At this moment, Ussiger asks Yang Yu:

”Can you still continue?”

Yang Yu responds, ”Probably. Just considering that the soldiers are intensely tense and fearful, they’re already exhausted. I’ve decided to let them rest for a while before we continue attacking, is that alright?”

”You are the commander, there, it’s your call.”

”If you have reinforcements, don’t hesitate to send them over, I’ll make a prominent mark at the cave entrance.”

”Already gathering, they should arrive by noon today.”

”Alright then. And one more thing, everyone here is very brave. Even if the expedition ultimately fails, don’t blame them; they’ve done very well. Their fighting ability will be needed for many things afterward.”

”Do I seem like that kind of person?”

”Just a mention.

Because of the demon attacks, blaming the expedition team for not exerting all their powers...

Such people aren’t rare.

If heroes are disheartened, there won’t be many standing out in the future.”

”I understand.

You say...

The upcoming expedition...

How confident are you?” Ussiger asks.

The other officials from the Teren Republic also turn, waiting for Yang Yu to answer.

Yang Yu merely smiles, ”Without seeing them, I can’t conclude. Zero-ten, ten-zero all are possibilities. There’s no guaranteed winning strategy, so I urge you to consider the possibility of our failure.”
