Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

As night fell, Kari returned home from collecting herbs and was extremely surprised to see Yang Yu. But soon, he smiled and welcomed Yang Yu home.

Everyone sat around the table, enjoying the various delicacies Lisa had prepared.

Lisa even prepared a large bowl of fragrant beef for the Silver Wolf outside. She was happy today and absolutely wouldn’t allow anyone to not eat their fill.

But before Lisa could serve that large bowl of fragrant beef, Yang Yu called Lotcar to change back into human form and join them for dinner.

Lisa stood in place, stunned for a moment, and finally could only serve the entire large pot of beef in front of everyone, hoping they would finish it all.

After the meal and drinks, Yang Yu led everyone to the guest room to rest.

Yang Yu’s hometown is the Newbie Village, but it’s rare to see novice adventurers there. At most, only a hundred or so are seen per year, and during less populous times...

The year Yang Yu started Farming, the number of novice adventurers inexplicably reduced significantly, with only about a dozen that year.

Since Kari runs a pharmacy and occasionally does consultations, he had prepared several rooms, which could barely accommodate the guests brought by Yang Yu.

After arranging everything, Yang Yu found his father and mother.

Soon, the world would face an invasion by the Demon King, and ordinary towns and villages would inevitably become supply points for the Demon King Army.

The last generation Demon King shamelessly wielded a butcher’s knife against defenseless and unresistant civilians, specifically targeting leaders of resistance, skinning and dismembering them.

The last generation Demon King was shameless against the weak, but his subordinates weren’t necessarily disdainful of wielding a butcher’s knife against the weak.

In the history Yang Yu witnessed, many of the Demon King’s subordinates blatantly ignored his orders, wantonly ravaging everything along the way, creating one tragedy after another.

It’s still unknown what the new generation Demon King is like, and what his army will be.

But it’s always necessary to prepare for the worst.

In many games, the Newbie Village becomes a training ground for the Demon King Army, and Yang Yu doesn’t want to find his home stolen and his family exploited after a roundabout journey.

After the Demon King Descent, there is no absolutely safe place in this world, but there are relatively safe places.

The closest to here is the All Things Library that Yang Yu could think of.

Yang Yu discussed with his parents the idea of temporarily moving to the All Things Library until everything is over and then return.

Yang Yu didn’t explicitly talk about the Demon King Descent, even though defenses around the nations had been orderly set in place, the news of the Demon King Descent hadn’t yet spread among the populace.

This was also to avoid unnecessary panic.

Thus, when asked the reason, Yang Yu only told his parents that a great disaster would befall the world, and as civilians, they would inevitably be caught in it. To preserve their lives, they must move to a safer place.

Yang Yu picked up the pen and wrote a letter to acquaintances at the All Things Library, hoping they could help take care of his parents. Yang Yu also gave his parents a large sum of money for their expenses at the All Things Library.

Faced with Yang Yu’s gesture, Carl and Lisa were delighted but refused Yang Yu’s proposal, returning the money.

With a smile, Kari said, ”I run a pharmacy and have some medical skills.

The villagers and passing adventurers all rely on me for treatment.

If I leave, there’s no one to replace me. When sick, without a doctor, won’t they suffer?

Your kindness is appreciated, but I can’t leave.

Moreover...

You seem to have some very important things to do.

The greater the ability, the greater the responsibility.

I heard that being an adventurer involves constantly facing various risks, and I see you’ve become quite a competent adventurer.

I’ve never left this village far in my life, and I can’t imagine the adventures you’ve experienced.

But, I know you’ve raced against Death God many times.

To survive, you racked your brains each time, achieving reversals.

You’ve been this way since childhood. I know your personality.

What you’re about to do next won’t be safe, right?

Even if it’s safe once, what about the second or third time?

From a father’s perspective, I hope you live well, but a grown man can’t be kept around.

I’ll never forget the expression on your face when you asked me for that piece of land.

This meeting might become the last.

If you understand your feelings, then you certainly understand mine now.

You shouldn’t worry about us; the wise are favored by fate.

If anything happens, I believe most would choose not to wait passively.

If the village decides to leave, we won’t choose to stay.

I’ll temporarily hold onto this letter; it may come in handy someday.”

Looking at Kari’s serene face, Yang Yu felt he was indebted to them in some way.

Since this was his father’s choice, Yang Yu could only respect Kari’s decision, just as Kari respected his choice back then.

Lisa listened quietly beside them, saying nothing but biting her lower lip tightly.

She knew this reunion was brief, and even though her child had grown capable, she couldn’t help but worry.

But to prevent Yang Yu from worrying, she could only bury her concern, feigning strength as she agreed.

The proposal wasn’t accepted, so Yang Yu shifted his mood and spoke casually with his parents for a while.

When night deepened, he returned to his room to sleep, waiting for the next day.

Without any more words, the following morning, Yang Yu and the others followed He Meng to the Slime Kingdom.

Walking along the winter paths and crossing the not-too-dense forest, Yang Yu saw a large tree with holes in its trunk.

Some holes showed signs of healing, but the long and deep ones weren’t healing easily, remaining bottomless.

The fight between Yang Yu and He Meng left many marks on this forest.

Looking back, it’s fate to continually encounter the same Slime.

He once saw everything around him with the detached attitude of playing a game, but if the nonchalant past self reached this point, he wouldn’t act like he did the previous night.

Following He Meng through the lush forest, down the stream step by step, Yang Yu and the others arrived at a pile of tall rubble.

In her maidenly form, He Meng pointed at the rubble and said:

”Beyond this pile of rubble is the road to the Slime Kingdom, follow me!.”
