Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

A corner of the underground city.

Several bishops of the Curse Sect, draped in black cloaks and holding lanterns, gathered in front of an elder and reported:

”Lord Kexiya, all the Demon Seeds have been distributed.

Believers who did not receive the Demon Seeds are also willing to sacrifice themselves for our ideals.

To become part of the power source of the Demon Seeds’ strength.”

[Loving Kexiya]’s aging eyes flashed with a trace of sadness, and she asked the bishop beside her:

”What is the situation on the invaders’ side?”

A bishop said anxiously, ”They are continuously sending forces here using Teleportation Magic. According to Lord Gao Fang, they left only a small part outside.

Even Lord Gao Fang’s Black Mist could do nothing to them; it seems quite tricky.”

Kexiya tapped her cane, ”In this battle, we don’t know how many people will die.

Everyone here is our companion whom we see every day. We were supposed to witness the demon’s arrival together, to witness the demon bringing down the goddess from the altar.

The despicable goddess noticed our actions and sent her believers to stop us.

This account must be noted.

Tell the believers on my behalf that I have indeed received their resolve, and the Demon Lord will surely fulfill their wishes.”

”Yes!” all the bishops responded in unison.

”Go back and ambush with the troops. Their actions exceeded our expectations.

Because they did not enter our trap, our series of measures were affected.

Re-emphasize that there is no need to initiate too many proactive attacks now; everything should be focused on containment.

They will definitely send someone to scout in order to quickly find the church.

His Holiness the Pope has already surrounded the city with darkness; you know this city better than they do.

Kill the scouts one by one, forcing them to advance in the dark and use strategies to disperse their forces.

Let them step into your traps one by one.

Understood?”

[Loving Kexiya] rarely became serious, and the bishops, realizing the severity, answered in unison again:

”Understood. We will follow Lord Kexiya’s orders.”

”Act carefully. If they discover the church’s location, stop them from dismantling the barrier at all costs.”

After giving all the necessary instructions, Kexiya turned and left.

But before she could take a few steps, a ”whoosh—” sound broke the peace in the darkness.

A light shot up into the sky, followed by a ”bang bang bang,” and the light exploded into a blossom in the air.

”Fireworks?”

Several bishops looked up in the direction of the blossoming fireworks, which was exactly where Yang Yu and the others were.

Why did the group of invaders suddenly set off fireworks?

Was it a mistake, or did they have other intentions?

One firework after another exploded in the sky, the beautiful fireworks faintly illuminating everything around.

”Are they trying to use such fireworks to illuminate this city?

That idea seems too naive...

It can’t be that simple.”

Staring at the fireworks, Kexiya remained expressionless, a sense of foreboding about her.

The beautiful fireworks were gone in an instant, with several magicians flying into the sky.

A flame burned in Bai Jin’s palm as she activated a protective barrier and rapidly flew toward the city’s center.

Other magicians spread out around Bai Jin, some with fireballs much like Bai Jin’s, others holding strange boxes or tubes.

As they got closer to the city’s center, Bai Jin hurled the fireball in her hand forward, and the fireball grew in the sky, exploding above the city’s center. One big fireball became two small ones, two small ones became four, and so on, until the initial big fireball turned into countless small fireballs, which then burst like fireworks in the sky.

The ”night” covering the city was deep, and the fireworks created by Bai Jin couldn’t completely illuminate the city; only the spreading sparks were faintly visible, disappearing into the darkness.

Bai Jin’s first spell ended, and the dispersed magicians released the ”fireworks” in their hands.

”Bang bang bang!” ”Bang bang bang!” ”Bang bang bang!”....

Countless fireworks exploded above the city.

One bunch of fireworks followed another, overlapping lights faintly illuminating the city, revealing countless Curse Sect believers hiding in the darkness.

They wore looks of determination, ready to die.

Kexiya gazed at the fireworks blooming continuously in the sky, observing their peculiarities.

These fireworks weren’t randomly set off but continuously spread to the city’s edges from the first spell released by Bai Jin.

The fireworks released by Bai Jin and the others gradually extended towards the location of the church.

Spectacular fireworks exploded above the backup church, and the light they released didn’t reveal the full church’s location.

Just as Kexiya was about to breathe a sigh of relief, what happened next nearly dropped her jaw.

A cluster of sparks from the spreading fireworks twisted, and the supposed near-circular fireworks turned into a missing-angle, slightly twisted half-moon shape in the sky.

Kexiya finally understood what Yang Yu was doing. Yang Yu was using the spreading sparks from the fireworks to detect the location of the backup church.

The barrier set by Kekarlos couldn’t make objects completely invisible. The barrier would mimic the surrounding scenery and absorb detection magic, thereby evading the invaders’ detection to achieve invisibility.

The barrier wouldn’t change the shape of objects but only deceive the senses.

It’s like a warrior in camouflage clothes hiding among the bushes, deceiving others’ eyes without directly turning into a clump of grass there.

The Curse Sect’s church had to house various ritual tools and accommodate thousands of believers. The church itself was quite large and tall.

Kekarlos once considered whether to connect the barrier directly to the ceiling, erecting a giant pillar in the city to evade enemy detection.

But after thinking it over, erecting a pillar in the city was too suspicious; it was like directly handing over the church’s location to the enemy.

After some discussion, Kekarlos opted for the current barrier.

As long as the plan went smoothly, even if Yang Yu and the others successfully found the barrier’s location, it would definitely cost them a lot of time and stamina, making it easy to catch them all.

Yet Kexiya hadn’t expected Yang Yu to use this method to find their backup church.

The distorted fireworks quickly vanished, and Kexiya harbored a glimmer of hope that Yang Yu hadn’t noticed the altered firework,

but unfortunately, this was just self-deception.

”Bang bang bang!”

Countless fireworks shot next to the spot of the previous firework, and in an instant, countless sparks danced, outlining the shape of the church.

It didn’t take Yang Yu and the others much effort to find the Curse Sect’s backup church.
