Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The Slime King’s response was not unexpected by Yang Yu.

If the Slime King went out for a walk and completely fell for the delicious Clover, becoming Yang Yu’s captive and obeying Yang Yu’s every word, wouldn’t such a king be too unreliable?

At least from Yang Yu’s current perspective, the Slime King is still a fairly competent king, weighing benefits and harms.

”I understand His Majesty the King’s difficulties, but I believe that the Slime Kingdom, always residing in the stable underground, will instead lead to its demise.”

The Slime King gazed at Yang Yu and asked, ”Why do you assert this?”

Taking out the crystal fragments purchased from the plantation, Yang Yu spoke confidently:

”I speculate that the reason you can see human history is entirely dependent on this crystal.

The current prosperity of the Slime Kingdom is completely built upon this crystal.

The drawbacks of this approach are obvious.

I have seen your Slime’s teaching materials, and their content is fragmented and lacks a coherent system.

This leads to a significant increase in the difficulty of understanding the materials.

If this continues, I can assert that you will never be able to master human knowledge.

Building spaceships is nothing more than a fantasy.”

With Yang Yu’s words, the Slime King did not lose composure, replying:

”Only being able to see part of human knowledge is inevitable.

But I believe we will definitely grasp the truth.”

Yang Yu sneered disdainfully,

”So, do you plan to just wait and think that time will solve everything for you?

Your Majesty has great belief that future Slimes will definitely master technology, believing yourself to be just a speck of dust in the torrent of time, so you’re not in a rush and let everything proceed naturally.

Obviously, you possess the societal foundation to step into the next phase, yet you remain in the feudal era.

In contrast, the humans you mentioned who are plagued by constant conflict have, through many wars, constructed a chain of ingenious ideas and have already surpassed you.”

Yang Yu glanced at He Meng, who returned a look of ”why are you looking at me”.

With a sigh of zero tacit understanding, Yang Yu held out his hand to He Meng and said, ”He Meng, transform into a radio. Let them see human technology.”

With a resigned eye-roll, He Meng leaped into the air, flipping as he first reverted to a Slime and then transformed into a radio.

Yang Yu took a cassette from the system, inserted it into the radio, and the radio whirred and played melodious music.

The surrounding Slimes were greatly shocked; they had only read about such sound-preserving devices in books, never expecting to see one in reality.

Yang Yu chuckled:

”Your Princess He Meng had to consume a human creation to metamorphose into this device capable of storing sound.

I haven’t seen anything like it in your Slime Kingdom, even though your tools are evolving, you are still stuck in an agrarian civilization.

Therefore, I’ve lost interest in ordinary rewards.

The knowledge in your books should be enough for you to create similar devices, yet you haven’t.

After thinking it over, I concluded that your Slimes lack the attitude to verify innovation—you’re too conservative.

Have you never considered that not all of the knowledge that appears in your minds is accurate, and the missing knowledge won’t magically appear someday...?

Practice is the only way to uncover true knowledge.

Uncorrected knowledge and unreplenished knowledge are your real existential threats.”

The semi-gelatinous matter that formed the Slime King’s body trembled faintly,

”After saying so much...

In the end, you’re still hoping that we Slimes help you, that’s why you are speaking to us in this way.

You want us to engage with the outside world... Is it so you can profit as the intermediary?

Or, to achieve your undisclosed goals?”

Yang Yu smiled, maintaining a respectful demeanor,

”As a human, I have no right to dictate the choices of you Slimes; this is all just my humble opinion, a mere suggestion.

If you ask whether I have any undisclosed objectives...

I can openly tell His Majesty that even if you refuse me, I have other means.

According to Slime’s legal code, unauthorized departure would be subject to severe penalties.

Even so, many Slimes are eager to explore the outside world; their motives are clear to everyone present.

Some Slimes are willing to risk climbing to the surface for the elusive Clover.

Regardless, their prospects are grim.

But if they were offered an endless supply of Clover, might that persuade them to work for me?”

Yang Yu’s intentions laid bare, he silenced the crowd.

The Slime King was enraged, ”Do you intend to drag my people into a war?”

”Using the term ’drag’ is a bit much.

I’ve merely offered the reward I can promise without deceiving them.

They’re following me entirely of their own volition.

According to your laws, I’m not engaging in any illegal activities.

At most, it might be a bit of a hassle when taking them out, but I believe it will be fine.

After all, you can’t prove that I’m taking Slimes by force back to the surface.

Perhaps I’m just taking Slimes for a stroll near the cave entrance.”

Watching the confident Yang Yu, the Slime King finally understood why Yang Yu wanted the legal code: he was using their spear against their shield.

Although the Slime Kingdom has strict regulations on leaving the kingdom, the Clover produced cannot satisfy every Slime, this is well acknowledged.

The higher-ups in the Slime Kingdom turn a blind eye to some Slimes going out to gather Clover to maintain the kingdom’s balance and stability.

In this political context, if someone can suddenly provide Slimes with a large amount of Clover, the outcome is predictable.

Yang Yu would gain significant influence within the Slime Kingdom.

If Yang Yu hadn’t already shown such ability, it would be fine if other Slimes were unaware, but...

No, he has definitely done so already.

He had just reviewed the Slime Kingdom for this very moment!

The Slime King, who fancied himself astute and impeccable in front of Yang Yu, a human, had decisively rejected Yang Yu, only to be outmaneuvered completely by Yang Yu.

Is this the treachery of humans?

The Slime King wobbled as he got to his feet, desperately trying to find a flaw in Yang Yu’s earlier words but could not think of a rebuttal, for fear that should he speak, countless flaws would spring forth from his mouth, becoming a weapon in Yang Yu’s hands.

Resigned, the Slime King decided to detain the insolent Yang Yu; as long as they could uncover the method behind Yang Yu’s abundant Clover, tranquility would return to the Slime Kingdom.

Just then, Yang Yu delivered another brutal blow:

”Obviously, you can offer your people a better life, and allow the Slime society to soar in your generation, yet His Majesty the King chooses the most foolish way. Why is that?”
