Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Leaving the palace, Yang Yu began to lay out his plan.

He tossed the legal code to He Meng and informed her through Bai Jin about what he wanted her to find out, then continued on his way.

Although Helot had just solved a predicament for Yang Yu and his group, Yang Yu couldn’t fully trust him. The Slime King had Helot follow him, perhaps to keep an eye on him.

As the next King, Helot’s attributes reached as high as Level 140, not losing to He Meng in any aspect. Unfortunately, his speed, like most slimes, was his downfall, never matching He Meng’s, whom Yang Yu had enhanced with speed.

The time for the Demon King Descent was drawing nearer, and seeking assistance from the Slime Kingdom wasn’t something that could be rushed. It had to be done step by step, methodically.

Following Helot, Yang Yu and his group revisited old haunts, browsing through areas they hadn’t examined thoroughly before, continually sharing the clovers he created.

Upon reaching the school and obtaining Helot’s permission, Yang Yu flipped through the slime’s textbooks.

Surprisingly, slimes actually had subject classifications, with dedicated teachers for different subjects.

In elementary school, they had math, language, biology, and physical classes. History and geography were added in middle school, and human language classes began in high school, with university courses splitting into majors for advanced studies, mirroring the education system of Yang Yu’s original world.

Slimes even had physical education classes, though it was unclear whether their PE classes would be taken over by other subjects.

Beyond basic subjects, slimes also had Magic Skills classes exclusive to this world, and performing well in these classes was a main criterion for advancement.

Notably, during slime classes, aside from the teacher, there were no textbooks.

Every slime seemed capable of remembering the knowledge taught in class, but applying that knowledge was another matter.

After reviewing all accessible textbooks, Yang Yu was amazed.

The knowledge slimes learned was nearly identical to what he knew, except some areas were incomplete, with essential theorems and formulas missing, overall a patchwork.

For instance, in the middle school physics textbook, the first chapter clearly talked about electromagnetism, while the second chapter switched to classical mechanics, only to revert back in the third chapter...

Such layout even made some straightforward concepts confusing for Yang Yu.

But after looking at the textbooks, Yang Yu firmly believed in his theory that slimes had indeed acquired some of the past humans’ knowledge.

Otherwise, in this barren underground, with their small brains, how could they have developed such advanced knowledge and understood this world so well?

As they toured around, Helot kept trying to converse with Yang Yu, attempting to uncover the secret behind Yang Yu’s ability to produce so many clovers.

Yang Yu consistently responded with a silent smile, continuously urging Helot to take them to the next area to see what interested them.

Thus, Yang Yu and his group returned once again to the Slime Kingdom’s plantation.

Various glowing gemstones scattered atop the plantation, providing energy for the various fruits and vegetables growing and thriving below.

Not all gemstones on the plantation’s ceiling were small palm-sized crystals. Yang Yu spotted a white gemstone embedded in the ceiling, resembling a bright moon.

The white gemstone was at least large enough for two people to wrap their arms around.

At the edge of the plantation, some miners tirelessly swung their hoes, expanding the plantation, with several slightly glowing crystal fragments scattered beside them.

The excavated crystal fragments were transported to various cities, serving as one of the materials for city construction.

Yang Yu greeted the nearby miners with a clover, buying a few sparkling crystals from them.

Upon inspecting the crystals, Yang Yu received the ambiguous identification: [Some sort of glowing gemstone fragment (?)].

If his previous conjecture was correct, these gemstone-like crystal fragments should be storage devices of ancient people. The slimes had serendipitously gained access to the knowledge stored within.

Yang Yu tossed the crystal fragments he held to He Meng, who had just finished absorbing the legal code.

”He Meng, try to absorb this.”

He Meng immediately pouted, ”Don’t make me consume weird stuff!

I’ve never heard of slimes devouring these glowing stones. What if its glowing properties transfer to me?

I don’t want you to lift me up like a glowing bulb!”

”Isn’t some stuff digestible? For instance, the Dragon Ball I gave you previously made you much stronger after you ate it.”

”Don’t mention that. Despite knowing it was good for me, it was extremely hard to digest, and I still haven’t fully absorbed it. It’s like there’s an alien object running wild inside me.”

Saying this, He Meng spat out the Dragon Ball, which had transformed from a large ball to a small, colorless, translucent Magic Crystal.

”I don’t know how long it’ll take to digest this thing, and if I swallow something else chaotic now, I’ll surely be miserable.”

”Just endure it a bit longer. If digestion isn’t feasible, you can spit it out again later.”

Yang Yu pulled out a batch of clovers, coating the juice on a fragment before throwing it to He Meng.

He Meng quickly swallowed the glass bead-sized Dragon Ball, jumped up, and swallowed the clover juice-coated crystal in one gulp. She attempted to digest the crystal, but it didn’t budge. Eventually, she had to spit it out again.

Shaking his head, Yang Yu retrieved the crystal he tossed to He Meng. It seemed that extracting human knowledge from these crystals wasn’t a one-day task, and he could only try handing these crystals over to the All Things Library for further research.

Quietly calculating in his mind, Yang Yu and his group continued to follow Helot through the Slime Kingdom once more.

Eventually, they returned to the Slime Palace.

Through Bai Jin, Yang Yu received the information he wanted from He Meng and once again faced the King.

”Your Majesty, after revisiting your cities, I am in awe of your civilization’s wonders.

However, amidst all this, I have not found the reward I seek.

As expected, what I truly need is your assistance. I hope to borrow some of your powerful slimes to accompany us and help defeat my enemies.”

Having received Yang Yu’s gift, after tasting it, the Slime King, along with his Queen, devoured all the clovers.

There’s a saying, ’The giver becomes obligated when taking.’ This time, the Slime King decided to hear Yang Yu out.

However, as Yang Yu’s request was unveiled, the Slime King’s response remained unchanged:

”I’m sorry. No matter how many times you ask, my answer remains the same. We slimes will not easily intervene in the wars above.”
