Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The slimes of the Slime Kingdom all emerged en masse, able to rival any human nation.

But that is the foundation of countless years of the Slime Kingdom.

Training a high-level slime is quite difficult, requiring a lot of time and effort. If they were to be brought to the surface by Yang Yu and perish in battle, it would undoubtedly be a huge loss for the Slime Kingdom.

To ensure the absolute loyalty of high-level slimes to the Slime Kingdom, the kingdom expends a large amount of human and financial resources to nurture them.

The Slime King doesn’t think high-level slimes would be easily tempted by Yang Yu’s clover, but those slightly inferior to them might be.

Even the landlord’s family doesn’t have much surplus; to maintain the absolute loyalty of high combat power, all clovers go to the high-level slimes, leaving none for the others below.

Although from human knowledge, the Slime King knows that development is the only way to resolve such societal contradictions.

However, the development of the Slime Kingdom is now stuck at an unprecedented bottleneck.

No matter how the agriculture is expanded, the Slime Kingdom’s production of clover remains extremely limited.

For the slimes living in the barren underground, the delicious clover is their sole solace.

Many slimes work hard to build this nation solely because of the delicious clover.

Even idealistic poets and anthropologists cannot refuse the tasty clover.

Some even said, ”Ideals and clover are equally important. Without either, a slime’s life will be meaningless.”

Due to the high price of clover, some impoverished slimes are driven to take risks.

The Slime Kingdom cannot endlessly expand the plantation size. The Slime King knows that those glowing crystal fragments are extremely limited in the strata.

The maximum reserves of glowing ore had long been calculated by slimes using human knowledge.

This glowing ore wasn’t initially underground but was formed from a world-shattering disaster that scorched the earth and was buried by silt.

Upon recognizing the ore reserves, the Slime King realized that no expansion of plantations could satisfy the current slime population’s demand. Therefore, he had to slow down the expansion of plantations.

But he still claims to the outside world that if the plantation continues to expand, one day it will meet all slimes’ clover demands.

However, the only viable solution to clover shortage is developing science and technology.

The development of science and technology isn’t instantaneous.

Developing technology to mass-produce clovers requires a very long time.

According to human history, entering such technology involves inevitable population explosions. Without enough clover to support, chaos would affect countless slimes.

Slimes have now developed technology for splicing fragments, but that technology’s efficiency is extremely low. Even if one uses the spliced gemstones to build plantations, it won’t significantly increase clover yields.

Moreover...

Some scholars have proven that these gemstones indeed help slimes acquire human knowledge, but... the probability is somewhat touching.

Yet no matter how touching the probability, it becomes very noticeable when stacked in large numbers.

The reason for building cities with gemstone fragments is hoping that a few chosen ones can find solutions to the Slime Kingdom’s current plight.

Yang Yu keenly perceived all this and expressed his thoughts.

There is indeed an unspeakably wonderful solution now presented to the Slime King:

By utilizing Yang Yu’s ability to cultivate endless clovers, to alleviate the Slime Kingdom’s clover shortage issue. Allowing more people to move away from stratification, entering high-paying and high-tech research fields, going full steam ahead to accelerate overall societal progress and advancement.

Eventually finding ways to mass-produce clover without relying on Yang Yu. Not depending on others, becoming self-sufficient in food production, also a necessary condition for space travel.

Yang Yu seems to have descended upon the Slime Kingdom like a Savior.

As it gets more tempting, the Slime King becomes increasingly distrustful of Yang Yu.

Perhaps, this is just a trap set by Yang Yu, aiming to find ways to dissolve the Slime Kingdom.

However, everything Yang Yu demonstrates now indicates that he can take the slimes away anytime, anywhere, so why bother with strategies?

The Slime King is simply unable to deal with Yang Yu who possesses such abilities.

High-level combat power is slowly nurtured from mid-level combat power. Once Yang Yu takes too many mid-level combatants away, one day, the Slime Kingdom will inevitably face a huge strength vacuum period.

If a strong enemy invades during this vacuum period, the Slime Kingdom will be defenseless.

Seeing the Slime King summon guards to arrest Yang Yu, Yang Yu’s companions sprang into action, drawing weapons ready to fight. As long they gain enough time, Bai Jin’s teleportation magic could transport them outside, far from the Slime Kingdom.

The atmosphere grows increasingly tense, and He Meng’s brother, Helot, decisively intervenes in front of them.

”Father, please wait.

I think we can still negotiate.

He has such miraculous abilities, which are significant to our Slime Kingdom.

I understand Father’s feelings; Father doesn’t want slimes going to the dangerous surface, getting caught in conflicts, and thereby implicating our Slime Kingdom.

However, I believe if we can establish cooperation with him, this risk is worth taking.

Although not sure what we may face outside, I am willing to be a vanguard and explore, bring as many participating slimes back intact.”

”You... you... you...” The Slime King was too angry to speak for a moment.

At this moment, Yang Yu steps forward, adding insult to injury:

”Your Majesty the King, mediocrity and conservatism are not scary, what’s scary is not admitting to one’s own mediocrity and conservatism.

You have watched much human history, not knowing whether you have seen some astonishing inventions and discoveries facing such criticism and skepticism when made public.

Humankind’s history hasn’t always progressed; it often faces setbacks and regressions.

Brave pioneers, facing death, drive history, allowing it to move forward continuously.

While your ruling method guarantees no problems among your subjects, maintaining incredibly stable governance, yet these numerous problems will show under your descendants’ rule someday, letting your heirs lose everything.

If you still seek stability, I can only continue executing my plan.

Problems arising from those I take will be my responsibility. By then, you, the King, need only to remain lofty on your throne and condemn me.

One way or another, you won’t lose out, right?”
