Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

He immediately whispered to the person next to him, ”Who is that?”

A manager from the Space Station quickly responded, ”We just received a rescue signal and brought someone back. He said he encountered a spaceship autopilot system malfunction in Superspace, then raced into the navigation clouds, and barely escaped.”

”Is he the only one who survived?”

”His spaceship is modified, it can be piloted by one person, and he was the only one on board.”

”What’s his identity?”

”He claims he was once with a security company, recently working as a Bounty Hunter in the Edge Star Realm, hunting pirates in nearby Star Systems.”

The official understood the rough details from the manager, then turned to his secretary and asked, ”In reality?”

The manager was slightly displeased upon hearing the official’s question, but didn’t show it openly.

The secretary tapped a few times on the terminal and said, ”Checked with your permissions, he’s fine, although he concealed his history of enlisting in the military and retiring, and later going missing for a few years during work with a security company.”

The official felt a pang of concern and asked, ”When did he retire? Why did he go missing afterward?”

”Retired fifteen years ago, continued with security work after that, went missing due to a solo security mission in an independent colony, completely unrelated to us, most likely a true accident.”

Upon hearing the timing and reasons, the official relaxed a bit, nodding slightly.

However, he still gestured towards Chen Ming and said to the manager, ”Don’t let anyone mess up our affairs, get him out of here quickly.”

”Understood.”

The government official headed towards the interior of the Space Station, flanked by a crowd, moving into areas that weren’t specifically isolated.

Meanwhile, the Space Station manager quietly left the vicinity of the group and hurried to the maintenance site.

But he didn’t actually intend to drive Chen Ming away.

Because An Wuping’s arrival process was fine, although the military-grade Power Armor concerned him a bit, An Wuping’s outdated Power Armor, combined with their background investigation, could lead to many reasonable conclusions that had nothing to do with them.

However, since the higher-ups had spoken, and An Wuping indeed arrived unprovoked when the important figures came, it could indeed cause trouble.

Therefore, the necessary instructions had to be relayed.

But he couldn’t really drive the person away, after all, if a vital government official arrives at the Space Station, driving away someone who just sent a rescue signal seems unreasonable.

If Chen Ming turned out to be a troublemaker and exposed the issue, it would attract unnecessary attention instead.

However, when he reached the maintenance site.

He noticed only Uncle Mao was there, operating equipment to repair the damaged spaceship.

Upon seeing the spaceship’s precarious condition, he reaffirmed his belief that An Wuping’s arrival was merely a coincidence.

Uncle Mao soon noticed someone arrived at the maintenance site, and after seeing who it was.

He immediately stopped and walked over to the manager, saying slightly nervously, ”Deputy Chang, what brings you here?”

Deputy Chang scanned the maintenance site and asked, ”Where’s the person who just arrived?”

”He went to buy supplies, just next door. Should I call him back?”

”No need. But you saw, right? The government VIP who just arrived will be staying at the Space Station for a few days. Just make sure the kid who just came doesn’t wander around.”

”Got it.”

Uncle Mao swiftly agreed, and Deputy Chang left the maintenance site filled with the smell of metal and oil.

Meanwhile, Chen Ming was purchasing supplies with the Space Station’s material management director.

After all, he was posing as An Wuping, a person who just sent out a rescue signal. Obviously, he needed to purchase enough supplies for his upcoming journey.

Coincidentally, the Space Station was obliged to provide those who sent rescue signals with enough supplies for one week of spaceship travel at market prices.

So, Chen Ming naturally asked Uncle Mao for some introductions and left Uncle Mao to arrange for robots to repair the spaceship while he headed to the material management office.

This way, he got to observe the Space Station’s situation more.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t much worth noting in the Station’s outer area, so he had to honestly come buy supplies.

While buying supplies, he was also pondering.

How exactly should he infiltrate the Space Station’s core area, infiltrate it, gather information, and conduct the investigation on Zuo Jing’s elements.

Chen Ming initially wanted to obliquely ask around, but An Wuping’s persona wasn’t chatty, too many questions would arouse suspicion.

This was a flaw in Chen Ming’s design.

However, Chen Ming created An Wuping mainly for combat, skill design was oriented in that direction, thus the personality matched this setup.

Otherwise, the overall contrast would be too stark, making him more suspect, which was inevitable.

After contemplating, Chen Ming desired a decisive approach, like directly breaking the prosthetic limitations and relying on the inner monster to storm into the Space Station’s core.

But what if the Space Station was actually divided into many more partitions and only by forcibly entering the core area could he achieve his goals?
