Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

After being battered by a bout of lightning in the hyperspace cloud, Chen Ming used a bit of spiritual energy to aid himself, then piloted the spaceship to successfully escape from the hyperspace cloud layer.

Although they escaped, the Sentinel Level situation was already precarious.

Damage and perforations were everywhere, and it seemed ready to disintegrate at any moment.

Moreover, navigating through hyperspace clouds was more difficult than outside, and fuel consumption inexplicably sped up, unbeknownst to him, the spaceship’s fuel was almost depleted.

Due to the damaged cargo hold, Chen Ming no longer had any subsequent supply of materials at hand, and fuel could not be replenished.

Additionally, hyperspace differed from the vacuum of the normal universe environment.

Hyperspace not only contained those visible superspace channel clouds.

It was also filled with a substance similar to air, whose exact nature the Empire had yet to discern.

Though the exact nature is unknown, the Empire could determine that this material restricted the spaceship’s speed in hyperspace, causing a cap on hyperspace travel speed.

Thus, the situation now was that there was resistance in hyperspace, insufficient spaceship fuel, and even it couldn’t accelerate to hyperspace’s maximum speed.

The Sentinel could only drift along the gravity well of the superspace channel.

And due to the position Chen Ming specifically chose, his spaceship’s drift’s final destination was precisely the star system where the ecosystem observation station was located.

After calculating and confirming this result, Chen Ming heaved a slight sigh of relief, at least the preliminary preparations weren’t in vain now.

What remained was to see if any unexpected situations arose upon arrival at the destination.

Taking advantage of the moment, Chen Ming simply controlled An Wuping to pick up the remaining materials and tools on the spaceship and start repairing the damaged parts on the spaceship.

Of course, using only the materials remaining on the ship, along with some taken from less important components.

Moreover, Chen Ming limited his technical level, keeping it at the level of a regular Maintenance Master who has studied for a few years.

At least, he had to repair the oxygen-generating function of the spaceship’s life support system, to ensure that the ship wouldn’t run out of oxygen before the drift ended, otherwise being discovered would be problematic.

A few hours later.

As the drifting distance grew more distant, Chen Ming was fortunate not to encounter any passing spaceships.

And at this moment, Chen Ming finally saw the star of his target star system, manifesting in hyperspace due to its own gravity well as a somewhat distorted environment akin to heated air.

Heated air is an irregular distortion, but the gravity well in hyperspace has a kind of rhythmic aesthetic.

The spaceship was quickly captured by the gravity well’s pull, orbiting around it, and gradually began to fall to its deepest part.

Chen Ming ceased observing the details of the gravity well from an unprecedented perspective.

Given it was captured by the gravity well, it indicated the Sentinel had reached the outer edge of this star system in hyperspace.

He utilized the remaining fuel to activate the superspace navigation system, departing hyperspace, and reaching the edge of the star system in the normal universe environment.

This star system only had one planet, just a habitable planet with no exploitable resources.

Though invisible to the naked eye and undetectable by sensors.

After all, the spaceship, to Chen Ming’s eyes, was no different than scrap metal.

But Chen Ming knew his target was in orbit of that habitable planet.

Since this star system lacked colonies, there naturally were no idle Patrol Teams passing by.

Only an approved small fleet hovered over the ecological observation space station’s orbit above the habitable planet, safeguarding the space station’s security.

Chen Ming used the last bit of fuel to gradually accelerate a certain distance, then activated the rescue signal.

Minutes later, a communication request was made to connect to Chen Ming’s spaceship.

Chen Ming immediately connected, and on the control panel’s display appeared a man in his forties, initially taken aback when he saw Chen Ming in a military-style power armor.

But he only paused for a moment, and after seeing Chen Ming open the visor’s light-blocking layer to show his face, he didn’t exhibit any other extra emotions.

He treated the situation as normal and proceeded according to standard procedures.

”This is Rescue Team of Habitable Planet’s Space Station No. 1091, what assistance do you require?”

The person didn’t appear to possess any of Zuo Jing’s traits, completely normal.

Although, according to Chen Ming’s information, this was a Zuo Jing stronghold, what if there were still a few normal individuals like the two colonies under Chen Ming’s control?

Thus, Chen Ming wouldn’t doubt him without reason, nor did he show anything unusual.

He silently placed a report about the spaceship’s general repairs close to the camera, ensuring the other side could see the damaged life support system and the situation causing no oxygen inside the cockpit due to spaceship body damage.

Moreover, to maintain An Wuping’s persona, Chen Ming also planned to respond with an aloof demeanor.

Still, since he was requesting rescue, Chen Ming made An Wuping put on a forced smile.

”My spaceship system malfunctioned while in hyperspace and directly went into the cloud. I was luckier and barely made it out alive. I’ll send you my identification and ship logs.”
