Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

After Chen Ming finished explaining his idea to the president.

The president’s affirmative response made Chen Ming completely understand his meaning: only those whose bodies have experienced dimensional infection are the ones marked.

However, Chen Ming was still a bit uneasy and confirmed again with the president: ”So let’s say there is a clone who has the same genes as the person who went through dimensional infection, almost identical?”

”I’ve said it before, it’s not the genes that are marked but the body, you’re the one being marked, everything else has no impact.”

”Even if a clone is made from the genes of body tissue that experienced dimensional infection, it’s still the same.”

”Because over the years I’ve been hurt, bled, and there’s been no unusual condition with the blood, even if it was taken some distance away from me.”

”Freshly drawn blood won’t show any special circumstances, so clones with the same genes will certainly be the same, the situation won’t change.”

”We’re merely marked, not infected.”

”I even feel that if someone tries to extract genes from our body tissues to create clones, the likelihood of causing ordinary mutations midway would be higher.”

”In any case, as long as you try not to get hurt, and if you do, it’s best to keep blood and other body tissues well-guarded, not just leave them lying around.”

”Our situation is indeed special.”

”Understood.”

According to the president’s explanation, the fake body created using Chen Ming’s genes would not fall into the category of being marked by another dimensional presence. Even if the fake body meets the president, it shouldn’t matter.

Even if Zuo Jing really tries to let his fake body meet someone who has been through dimensional infection, nothing will happen.

This was good news for Chen Ming.

At least he doesn’t need to worry about shifting his consciousness to the Insect Race, as they won’t be marked by the dimensional infection either.

But besides the Insect Race, Chen Ming suddenly thought of another matter, and asked the president again: ”So you’re saying the little stone... hamster I used to have was also marked, right? I need to take good care of it.”

”Yes, the hamster that was with you at the time was definitely marked too, and I’m quite surprised it survived the dimensional infection, was it already a Spiritual Creature before?”

”Probably, when I found it initially, I felt it was quite special because it lived in an area with wild Mind Pulse Generators from the Mechanical Race, where other creatures would go insane just with a mind pulse, but it was fine and came to me to steal food, so I caught it.”

”Later on, when I was at Dusk’s research institute, Dusk prepared some things to keep my Spiritual Power active, like Immortal Spirit Leaves.”

”Immortal Spirit Leaves? Are you sure?”

”Absolutely.”

”Dusk actually has that.”

Chen Ming wanted to say the same thing, realizing now that it’s quite odd for Dusk to possess such things.

During this period, he also attempted to use the increasingly numerous individuals he’d controlled from Dusk’s territory to search, but hadn’t found any clues.

It’s estimated that Dusk’s Immortal Spirit Tree might be on that planet where the Kleitka Simulator is now completely sealed off, with physical connections to the outside world cut off.

The president noted the matter and then asked again about the prior issue: ”You didn’t give all the Immortal Spirit Leaves the Mechanical Race gave to your hamster, right?”

”No, I just shared one or two leaves with it, but later it dug a hole in Dusk’s warehouse, sneaked in and ate all the Immortal Spirit Leaves Dusk had stored.”

”...”

The president found it hard to imagine how a hamster, merely with Spiritual Energy potential at the time, managed to do things right under Dusk’s nose. Eventually, he could only understand it as Chen Ming believing Dusk didn’t provide enough each time, then deliberately planning for his hamster to steal and eat all the leaves as Chen Ming prepared to leave.

In the president’s brief silence, Chen Ming suddenly said: ”Speaking of which, the breed of Little Stone is probably an artificial species, right? It’s surprising artificial species can have the potential to become Spiritual Creatures.”

The president then revealed his experience, saying: ”This has been a conclusion drawn many years ago, artificial life can also become Spiritual Creatures, just like clones can show certain Spiritual characteristics.”

”The cloning technology is extremely dangerous, whereas using genetic transformation technology to cultivate artificial life is much safer.”

”Speaking of this, I remember during the cloning technology ban, some places within the Empire also cut off everything related to genes for safety, and only resumed after confirming safety, causing the technology labs to flow away, damaging local scientific research levels.”

”But I won’t go into detail on that, just a casual mention.”

”Anyway, high-breed pet mice have been a research result from years ago, and a certain active organization has been releasing many on various planets until recently. After years of naturalization, they’re similar to wild species.”

”Especially on Rimu Star where you’ve stayed, which hasn’t been visited for decades, so don’t worry too much about the differences between your hamster and ordinary creatures.”
