Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

The uncle on the other end of the communication felt frightened for a moment by An Wuping’s smile, and he held back to confirm with An Wuping: ”Why didn’t you send a signal while in superspace? Otherwise, we should have received it long ago. Superspace shouldn’t interfere with distress signals, right?”

”I know it doesn’t interfere, but my fuel was almost exhausted when I flew out from the cloud, and the warehouse was breached, all supplies fell out.”

”I was worried the ship wouldn’t have enough fuel, so I simply shut down all systems and waited to drift to the place. I was sure I could drift here along the gravity well.”

The uncle confirmed again: ”Do you have any ship piloting experience?”

”A few years ago, I worked in a security company as a field officer. I was the captain.”

The uncle glanced at the screen, saw An Wuping’s tall and intimidating figure, and believed this explanation.

”Security company... Alright, send over the necessary documents as soon as possible. We’re already preparing a rescue tow for your ship, stay in touch.”

”Okay.”

Chen Ming sent the ship logs, identity information, and other necessary documents, just waiting for the Space Station’s rescue... or attack.

Although Chen Ming hadn’t found any connections between this uncle, the Space Station, and Zuo Jing at this point, he remained vigilant.

What if?

However, things didn’t develop as Chen Ming feared this time.

A dozen minutes later, three ships in the star system arrived, two Warrior Level frigates common to patrol teams, and a Bull Level gravity tugboat.

Towing Chen Ming’s already dilapidated Sentinel, headed towards the ecological observation colony.

The Sentinel was quickly being towed to the Space Station.

The moment Chen Ming stepped off the ship, the Sentinel was dragged away by the station’s devices, headed to a maintenance point.

He stood firmly on the ground of the Space Station.

At this point, Chen Ming felt like everything was over; as long as he could directly control the entire Space Station, everything would entirely fall into his hands.

However, as Chen Ming began to take action, he discovered that Zuo Jing had partitioned different regions of the Space Station, dividing it into several modules without any physical connection.

Especially the port, the external area was even more heavily partitioned.

This small port region didn’t contain any crucial databases, nor were places storing important data in this area.

Generally, space stations wouldn’t be designed like this; this structure alone speaks volumes.

And it left Chen Ming unsure of what to say.

The Space Station was surely integrated at the start, and such a situation arose only after later transformations.

Could it be that Zuo Jing was targeting him specifically?

Of course, Chen Ming was just speculating.

In reality, he felt this structure was probably designed for quick separation of different modules.

Ports like this are typically areas concentrated with outsiders.

If they can quickly separate, the Space Station could use its firepower to swiftly destroy this place.

Such a special structure is definitely meant for some crucial, ulterior motive.

But no matter.

Chen Ming arrived using legitimate means, so there’s no need to fear Zuo Jing’s sudden targeting through these methods, unknown to him.

Moreover, if he really wanted to act violently, relying on An Wuping’s physique, a mere module separation couldn’t stop him.

Just as Chen Ming was observing the Space Station’s port situation,

the uncle from the communication suddenly walked over from the direction the ship was taken, asking Chen Ming, who was clad in Power Armor and looking around: ”An Wuping, right?”

Chen Ming immediately replied in a deep voice: ”Yes.”

”Mm, I’m the head of the rescue team here, Mao Xingwang.”

”You young man have quite the luck. I just checked your ship, and the engine was almost pierced by lightning. If it did get pierced, you’d have died in the clouds.”

Chen Ming contemplated An Wuping’s character setup, keeping silent without a response.

Uncle Mao didn’t say anything more, he just gestured to Chen Ming: ”Come with me, I’ll arrange a place for you to rest for a few days.”

”Do you want a tugboat company to take your ship to the nearest colony, or should it be repaired here? Repairing here isn’t our responsibility, it’ll cost money.”

Chen Ming recently sold pirate ships and earned some money, although it was already spent.

However, collecting pirate bounties later earned him another sum, which should be enough for ship repairs.

”I have money, but there are things on my ship I need to look at first.”

”Worried about losing things? Alright, let’s go through and inventory what’s on your ship, settle accounts first.”
