Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 695: Chapter 210: The Psychic’s Backdoor_2

At this moment, Chen Ming’s peripheral vision suddenly caught sight of a bright flame behind him, completely overshadowing the red of the magma erupting in front.

He immediately turned his head back and saw a mountain covered in cracks and flowing magma abruptly rise on the originally somewhat flat ground shrouded in volcanic ash and darkness.

The appearance of this nearly vertical mountain to the ground instantly made the surrounding terrain become rugged.

It was as if a segment of bamboo suddenly emerged from a small hill sparsely growing some weeds, and then this bamboo sprouted many bamboo shoots capable of altering the terrain.

And it was evident that the mountain flowing with magma was also a volcano.

From this distance, it was clear that the vertical volcano was likely two thousand meters tall.

When Chen Ming turned his head to look at it, it was at the peak of its first eruption.

The spewing magma streams were like branches, and the flying volcanic ash like leaves.

This volcano seemed like a world tree centered on magma.

”Whoa.”

Is this the mighty force of nature?

Chen Ming sighed with awe.

Immediately after, in the brief interval of the volcano’s eruption, the dense smoke of the second violent eruption instantly enveloped it.

Chen Ming could barely make out the enormous column of molten rock reaching the sky.

Though Chen Ming could tell that this volcano was at a distance from the dome, and the magma within the cracked volcano mainly poured from top to bottom.

Yet some of the magma expelled during the eruption would certainly soon fall onto the dome.

The two-thousand-meter volcano’s erupted magma, despite the seemingly minimal threat at first blush, considering Chen Ming had heard of much larger and taller volcanoes.

But based on the sheer scale witnessed of the never-before-seen vertical volcano before it was shrouded in volcanic ash.

Chen Ming felt a little uneasy about the reliability of the dome.

Even with Bai Quan’s assurance earlier about the dome’s safety, and Chen Ming’s armor presumably being sufficient to isolate the high temperatures outside, he could not risk it.

Thus, Chen Ming decided swiftly, retreating to the second underground level with the Purgatory Core.

Meanwhile, he used his stock of advanced metals mixed with various metal materials from the temporary stronghold to completely fill the entire first underground level between the second level and the surface, thoroughly securing himself.

Meanwhile, Chen Ming’s monitoring of the surface and the exterior of the dome hadn’t ceased.

Even underground, testing of the Purgatory Core could continue.

Chen Ming consequently shifted his test targets to that vertical volcano.

Although testing on the airborne magma was tricky, since cooling it mid-air might cause the magma to turn into stones hitting the dome, indistinguishable from meteorites.

Better avoid such outcomes, just in case.

While the influence range of Chen Ming’s Purgatory Core was continuously expanding, toward the volcano.

Magma persistently fell in the vicinity onto the dome.

Looking from inside the dome outward, there was magma flowing everywhere, and when the magma reached the bottom, it was all entropy transferred by Chen Ming.

The temperature of the magma cooled down, extinguished, and formed rocks piling around the dome.

Though some rocks near the dome with incomplete entropy transfer exploded, spurting magma.

The exposed magma tended to cool within seconds.

All magma flowing near the dome was thoroughly controlled by Chen Ming.

The entropy control test was complete.

Next, just testing the effect of the Purgatory Core on the volcano, clarifying its extreme effect, and the testing could be concluded.

But surprises always came swiftly.

Just at a spot very close to the dome, the solidified magma suddenly burst open, thoroughly exploding.

This wasn’t due to the previous small-scale entropy instability, but rather a new heat source appearing underground, and a new magma flow erupted from a very nearby location.

Simultaneously, an exceedingly intense earthquake occurred in the vicinity of the dome’s underground.

Even though the dome had thorough seismic measures, Chen Ming in the second underground level could clearly sense the direction of the earthquake’s source.

Following the tremor’s origin through the dome’s monitoring, Chen Ming suddenly witnessed a small protrusion on the magma-covered ground.

Seemingly... the sharp vertical volcanic peak of the type just now was about to rise very close to him.

If that two-thousand-meter volcano appeared at this distance, the dome overhead might offer no protection at all.

Chen Ming’s face bore a rarely seen seriousness.

He had to find a way to resolve this issue.

Just as Chen Ming saw the threatening vertical volcano about to rise from a very close position to the dome.

Bai Quan happened to finish most of his work for the day and headed to an external equipment control center.

This control center connected to satellites in orbit around the volcanic planet.

One of the satellites was observing the situation on Chen Ming’s side.

Not out of concern for the dome being damaged by the volcano.

In his view, the dome’s protection capabilities were not something to worry about.

Having stayed here for a while, he knew the local geological environment and the scale of various disasters, aware of the dome’s protective performance.

Therefore, he felt fairly assured about Chen Ming’s safety.
