Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 694: Chapter 210: The Psychic’s Backdoor

Chen Ming, who was just about to activate the Purgatory Core, frowned as he picked up Bai Quan’s call.

Bai Quan’s voice immediately transmitted from the other end: ”Geological activity is suddenly quite intense tonight, the volcanic eruption might be severe, it’s best to rest on the second underground level.”

Chen Ming’s furrowed brow relaxed, he thought Bai Quan was calling him in the middle of the night to inform him someone was causing trouble for him, but it turned out to be just this.

”Got it.”

Chen Ming replied and then hung up the phone.

Chen Ming didn’t need Bai Quan’s reminder to know that geological activity had been frequent recently, with tonight being the peak period.

This is because the main control room of the dome is connected to an observation system of the Fourteenth Legion’s base.

There would be regular weather reports sent to each dome.

Although this ”weather report” didn’t describe sunshine or rain, but instead the intensity of geological activity and the severity of volcanic eruptions, the effect was about the same.

Although Chen Ming basically stayed in the laboratory all day and didn’t go out, he still kept an eye on the outside situation every day.

And actually, he had been waiting for this day.

The best day to test the Purgatory Core.

The extreme heat environment of the volcanic planet was the most suitable environment to test the Purgatory Core.

Chen Ming put away the terminal, took a line connected to the Purgatory Core in the laboratory, and walked out of the lab.

The situation outside appeared before him through the transparent dome.

Although the entire planet seemed to be shrouded in dark volcanic ash, luckily, the light emitted by the hot magma allowed Chen Ming to see the general situation near the dome clearly.

However, the situation didn’t seem optimistic.

Intensified geological activity caused the surging magma to accumulate massively on the surface, and now the area near the dome was almost an ocean of orange-red.

”Um... doesn’t the situation seem a bit off?”

Chen Ming remembered asking Bai Quan about the dome’s location a couple of days ago, whether it would be affected by geological activity and cause damage to the dome.

Bai Quan had said that the dome’s location was all on relatively stable tectonic plates, generally only the magma from eruptions far away might fall near the dome.

Why was everything around now flooded with magma?

But it wasn’t a big problem.

Since Chen Ming wanted to test the Purgatory Core, the more challenging the test environment, the better.

Although the Purgatory Core couldn’t reduce entropy, transferring entropy to a farther place shouldn’t be a problem.

Chen Ming lifted the Purgatory Core, connected to the micro-antimatter reactor, in front of him to observe the core’s condition during the upcoming tests.

Then, he infused his Spiritual Power directly into the core entropy in his hand.

Spiritual Energy Fluctuation then spread from his body into the Purgatory Core.

The Purgatory Core, stimulated by Chen Ming’s Spiritual Energy Fluctuation, had its internal spiritual components activated, producing Spiritual Energy Fluctuation which was all confined within the core by the isolation materials of the isolation layer.

Only the effect produced by the Purgatory Core after activation would take effect outside the core.

The Purgatory Core, cold as a metal block, gradually started to become warm.

And the environment temperature, originally heightened by Chen Ming for testing, stabilized by the dome’s life support system, began to gradually decrease.

The entropy within the dome wasn’t gone, it was dissipated outside the dome.

The magma’s activity near the dome rapidly became more active.

However, since the temperature change within the dome wasn’t significant, the magma’s activity outside was only active for a short while.

The entropy dissipated from the domes naturally blended into the surrounding environment.

It no longer excessively influenced the local environment.

Chen Ming was fairly satisfied with this effect.

He conveniently reset the life support system’s temperature to a suitable level, to avoid further wasting the dome’s electricity.

Then he continued to control the Purgatory Core for subsequent tests.

Namely, continuing to transfer the surrounding entropy further away.

The magma near the dome, after surging for a while, began to calm under the influence of the Purgatory Core, cooling into blocks of pitch-black rock covered in magma patterns.

The area covered by these rocks, which suddenly appeared in the extreme high temperature and magma-filled environment, was expanding in a circular pattern visible to the naked eye.

However, since the effect of the Purgatory Core took time to affect the magma at the bottom,

the areas where entropy hadn’t yet been transferred out experienced some situations due to the rapid temperature increase and environmental change caused by entropy dissipating to the surroundings.

The rock, originally solidified due to entropy transfer, was constantly blasted by the active magma below.

Shattered rock melted again under high temperatures, and the spraying magma continued to pour towards the dome.

This situation prompted Chen Ming to immediately change the approach of invoking the Purgatory Core, opting to stabilize the top entropy and prioritize transferring the bottom entropy out.

Soon the situation was once again under Chen Ming’s control.

The area covered by cooling rocks was expanding in a constantly growing circle, while the previously surging magma appeared like boiling water before Chen Ming.

Everything was going very smoothly.

Even though there seemed to be continuous underground magma eruptions nearby, Chen Ming could quickly use the Purgatory Core to cool it down.

Thoroughly resolving all current problems near the dome.

And during the testing process, Chen Ming had become thoroughly familiar with how to use the Purgatory Core.
