Chapter 663: Chapter 202: The Empire’s Direction_2

Now, Cheng Xinghai is sparring against Chen Ming, whose psionic powers have been developed to a high degree but are partially restricted, and both sides have fixed starting fleet strengths.

So if Cheng Xinghe were to spar with Chen Ming again now, he’d probably get beaten easily by Chen Ming.

After all, Chen Ming’s progress in psionic abilities is much faster than Cheng Xinghe’s improvement in command skills, especially since Cheng Xinghe spent two months doing nothing in an escape pod.

However, if Cheng Xinghai had another chance, the result might be different.

Bai Quan sent a message to Cheng Xinghai with similar thoughts to comfort her.

Just then, Chen Ming had finished cleaning up the battlefield and ended the battle, his consciousness being ejected from the simulation device.

Noticing that Bai Quan seemed to be waiting in the corner of the equipment room, Chen Ming spoke up, ”Finished the battle.”

”I saw it.”

Bai Quan said as he approached the equipment, casually turning off the device beside him and said, ”I can see that your command skills have indeed improved during this period; the small-scale baiting was very well done.”

”It’s just that there was a slight problem at the end when you exposed the position of your flagship while setting another layer of bait.”

Hearing Bai Quan’s words again, Chen Ming felt a little regretful as he initially did not expect the opponent to suddenly turn and break through to the rear of his fleet.

Moreover, due to the simulation, he himself was not in danger, so his danger sensing psionics couldn’t fully function.

Otherwise, when the opponent’s fleet breached the defense line and attacked the support fleet he had prepared, he should have sensed the danger in advance and started maneuvering.

However, at this moment, Chen Ming felt he might be overly reliant on his danger sensing.

Even though relying on psionics is not an issue for a Psychic, there is always the chance that psionics might fail, as it did the first time he tried to control the Mechanical Race on a colony.

If something like that were to occur at a critical moment, he wouldn’t have a second chance.

Many times, the dangers he could detect himself he must discover on his own.

Psionic energy should be a last-resort safeguard.

So when Bai Quan pointed out this issue, Chen Ming accepted it, admitting, ”Indeed, that’s my fault. I will remember that.”

Bai Quan was quite satisfied with Chen Ming’s learning attitude and said, ”There were also some minor issues with your capabilities throughout the battle, but they don’t overshadow your achievements.”

”Your opponent has completed all the basic courses of our Fourteenth Legion Academy and has started on-site design work for graduation.”

”It’s normal for her command knowledge and abilities to surpass yours; as long as you win in the end, it’s all good.”

Chen Ming humbly said, ”I mainly relied on psionics, without them I surely couldn’t beat him.”

”You don’t need to worry about that because the opponent also used psionics.”

Chen Ming was surprised and asked, ”Cheng Xinghe isn’t a Psychic, right?”

”That wasn’t Cheng Xinghe.”

”I felt it was similar.”

Bai Quan nodded, saying, ”It indeed seems similar because both are my students; it’s his sister, Cheng Xinghai.”

”Oh? I remember you mentioned before that Cheng Xinghe was once defeated by someone close to him and went traveling to find Dusk for a fight, and coincidentally ran into trouble with the Star Zone Military looking for me, that person...”

”Yes, it was his sister.”

”Le.”

Seeing a trace of concern mixed in Bai Quan’s expression, as if worried about Chen Ming holding a grudge against Cheng Xinghe,

Chen Ming proactively added, ”Don’t worry, you have already apologized on his behalf before, I won’t mind about him, nor would I blame others.”

”That’s good.”

After reiterating his stance, Chen Ming asked Bai Quan, ”Then what is Cheng Xinghai’s psionic ability?”

Bai Quan pointed to his head, without elaborating.

Chen Ming felt it was probably similar to Shao Yang’s cognitive enhancement ability, given that it felt genuinely frightening how in the recent battle, almost all his setups were effortlessly seen through.

Cheng Xinghai’s psionics should be in this aspect.

As Chen Ming pondered, Bai Quan checked the time on the terminal and said to Chen Ming, ”That’s about it for today; I’ll watch the recording again later.”

”Tomorrow, we’ll officially resume the tutorial. I’ll help you review the issues in your game. I will also discuss something with you during tomorrow’s lesson.”

”No problem reviewing.”

Chen Ming had already planned to review himself, but doing so alone would inevitably lead to mistakes. Having Bai Quan help would be excellent.

”But can’t you tell me now?”

Bai Quan appreciated Chen Ming’s commitment to learning but explained his reasoning, ”I want to formally discuss it tomorrow.”

”However, I can give you a small preview, that it’s something I found out after being promoted to Vice Admiral.”

”Does it have anything to do with me?”

”The first part indeed concerns you, and the second part can concern you.”

Chen Ming instinctively began contemplating the implications of Bai Quan’s words, though Bai Quan’s hints weren’t enough for him to deduce what Bai Quan would discuss tomorrow.

And Bai Quan didn’t elaborate further.

Just before ending the call, Bai Quan posed one last question to Chen Ming: ”Would you like to get to know Cheng Xinghai?”

”Her command level is already close to Cheng Xinghe, and with her psionics, her overall level should match you when you’re not fully using your psionics. She’d make an excellent sparring partner.”
