Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 684: Chapter 207: Arrival_3

”As long as he’s still stationed at your base, you can use him like a device that transmits information accurately without any delay,”

”Chen Ming’s psychic abilities can do things at least ten thousand times more than what I’m saying, right?”

”If he wants to come, then he’s definitely willing to work. Otherwise, why come? Just to freeload?”

Bai Quan suddenly remembered what Chen Ming said earlier about wanting to use the Fourteenth Legion’s equipment for research.

Even if they would surely approve, Chen Ming’s approach seemed no different than coming in and taking by force.

So Bai Quan casually replied, ”Maybe.”

”Tsk, how come just as I’m done, you start up?”

The investigating Psychic didn’t realize Bai Quan was actually speaking the truth and not just making stuff up.

However, he still chose to seriously say, ”If you’re worried about him slacking off, why not give him a Destroyer for each mission he completes? Isn’t that manageable? Consider it as loss incurred during the mission.”

”Do you think Chen Ming would help you with that?”

Bai Quan thought the answer should be yes.

Half an hour later.

While busy in his office, Bai Quan suddenly saw a report from his subordinates that a Stardust Level Cruiser had appeared in their base’s star system’s superspace, requesting entry into the system.

”He’s really here.”

Bai Quan murmured, put down his work, swiftly left the office, and quickly boarded a Cruiser that was ready for takeoff.

At this moment, Chen Ming was still patiently waiting on the Stardust Level ship in the superspace, as he had previously stated he would come.

The reason for choosing to use the Stardust Level was because it was the ship best suited for utilizing his spiritual energy.

Another reason was that Chen Ming planned to conduct a month-long transaction with Shao Yang at the Supreme Point later on.

Also, his main body needed to stay at the Supreme Point to continue his daily study and research, using both the main and fake bodies. Without those research devices, his learning efficiency would drop significantly.

A long time ago, Chen Ming had already mastered managing dual tasks simultaneously, only he didn’t have a second self to share the workload, so he had to perform different learning tasks at different times during a day.

Now things were different; with the existence of a fake body, Chen Ming even felt he could achieve the work of five people on his own.

However, this would scatter his thoughts too much and reduce his learning efficiency.

Thus, having one main body and one fake body was the maximum he could handle without dropping his work efficiency.

Just when Chen Ming was pondering how to allocate tasks between his main and fake bodies,

the Stardust Level ship suddenly received a new communication request.

When Chen Ming answered, Bai Quan’s face appeared on the screen in front of him.

Chen Ming casually greeted Bai Quan as usual since the minor conflict they had was insignificant.

”Hello, Bai Quan, this is the temporary tactical instructor from the Fourteenth Legion; can I come in?”

Bai Quan suddenly had an odd look on his face as he stared at Chen Ming for a moment, then said, ”Follow me.”

With that, Bai Quan’s ship turned around, powered its course engine, and left superspace.

The five Cruisers of the Fourteenth Legion that had been keeping strict watch on the Stardust Level ship finally lowered their guard.

Chen Ming followed along.

As they entered the star system and approached the planet housing the Fourteenth Legion’s base, Bai Quan asked Chen Ming, ”Is there any Dusk on your ship?”

Chen Ming replied honestly, ”No.”

”Okay, when the ship docks, it will undergo a thorough deep scan. Remember to turn off the jamming device.”

”Alright.”

Everything was proceeding as per normal procedure; Chen Ming had no other intentions towards the Fourteenth Legion, so he naturally had no objections.

As Chen Ming and Bai Quan approached the giant dock of the Fourteenth Legion,

Bai Quan’s Cruiser suddenly came to a halt.

His communication was also sent over, saying, ”I’ll take the Shuttle Boat over to pick you up. We’ll go directly to the surface. You can remotely pilot the Stardust into the dock, right?”

”I can.”

Chen Ming agreed without hesitation.

Bai Quan’s action was evidently due to concern that Chen Ming might use spiritual energy at their giant dock without restraint.

He knew very well what happened to Dusk’s giant dock back in the day.

Even Chen Ming, if in Bai Quan’s position, would probably do the same.

So he had no objections, as it was understandable to be considerate of Bai Quan’s concerns.

Soon, Chen Ming, clad in heavy protective gear, stood on the flight deck of the Stardust Level ship.

Before long, he saw a Shuttle Boat growing larger as it approached from the outer space and landed on the Stardust Level ship.

Chen Ming turned off the opacity feature of his helmet, revealing his face.

A few people stepped down from the Shuttle Boat at random.

The person in the lead, also wearing heavy protective gear, revealed Bai Quan’s face under his helmet.

Bai Quan stepped forward a few steps and extended his hand to Chen Ming.

Chen Ming likewise reached out for a handshake, saying over the communication channel, ”This is our first face-to-face meeting, right?”

”Yes, but we just saw each other half an hour ago, so it lacks that ceremonial feel.”

Bai Quan released his grip, turned, and motioned for Chen Ming, saying, ”Come aboard. Since you suddenly came, I’ve got to get you situated promptly.”

Chen Ming didn’t speak much, just followed Bai Quan onto the ship, casually touching the Shuttle Boat.

Bai Quan clearly noticed Chen Ming’s small gesture but didn’t comment on it.
