Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 678: Chapter 206: Prosthesis

Chen Ming left the bar where old Wu was drinking and stood on the street outside.

He shook his head slightly, like someone pulling himself together from drunkenness.

However, his eyes showed no signs of drunken daze; they were as clear as usual.

After recognizing the direction,

Chen Ming headed towards the inner city on a street where the Space Station had dimmed its overall lighting for the night.

The factory manager’s home was near the center of the Space Station, very close to the Administration Building, seemingly just an employee dormitory of the Administration.

Honestly, Chen Ming never knew how the manager, a second-generation son of a large company’s chairman, mastered so much maintenance technology and was willing to actually work in the repair factory.

Moreover, he usually lived in a place considered simple compared to his status, though the employee dormitory seemed decent. Something just didn’t add up.

But that’s the manager’s private matter, so Chen Ming didn’t ask more.

At this moment, Chen Ming suddenly remembered that the company seemed to have said earlier that they would arrange a special dormitory for him.

Though he didn’t want it, the manager seemed to casually mention before that the dormitory was still reserved for him.

Forget it, it doesn’t matter, Chen Ming couldn’t be bothered to go see it.

He still had to go to the manager’s place.

When Chen Ming arrived at the company employee dormitory, because he had mentioned to the manager in advance that he was coming over,

the manager directly welcomed Chen Ming at the community entrance and brought him to his place, staying in the study room.

After being asked the same questions as old Wu had asked, Chen Ming gave the same answers.

Chen Ming then casually chatted with the manager about recent circumstances.

He even asked about how business was at the repair shop.

After all, it was a place he had stayed for a while, and he had some attachment to it.

However, as they chatted, Chen Ming noticed the manager looking at him strangely.

Chen Ming thought the manager might have noticed something and asked, ”What’s up?”

”Nothing.”

The manager shook his head and continued to chat idly with Chen Ming.

Yet after a while, he hesitated and said to Chen Ming, ”I want to ask you something; what are your future plans?”

”What future?”

”After the colony is established.”

Chen Ming, following the casual chatting tone, said, ”Haven’t thought about it yet, but establishing a colony isn’t easy; it might take years or decades. I’m sure I’ll have figured it out by then.”

”Your career will definitely go smoothly, so... isn’t it about time to settle down?”

Chen Ming asked with some confusion as he pointed to his face, ”Do I look old to you?”

”I just think it’s about time.”

”Well, I can only say that I haven’t considered it yet.”

Chen Ming pulled up a schedule from his terminal that he had been working on recently, placed it in front of the manager, and said, ”Look at this, where do I find the time to do anything else?”

The manager asked, ”Would you pursue it if you had the time?”

”That would need time too. Besides, it’s not that I’m completely against it, I just genuinely don’t have the time.”

”Oh, I see.”

”Yeah, that’s it, why ask suddenly?”

The manager gestured with his thumb towards the outside of the study room and said, ”You know I’m married; sometimes I chat about you with my wife, and it leads to this topic. She asked me to look out for you.”

Chen Ming chuckled and said, ”There’s nothing really to look out for, is there? It’s my own issue.”

”Right, it’s good if you prioritize your career.”

After chatting with the manager for a while longer, Chen Ming left.

Finally, he went to see the boss.

At the entrance of the hardware store on Space Arm 2, Chen Ming arrived just as the boss was closing the store.

Chen Ming visited everyone he knew, and by the time he reached the boss, it was already close to midnight.

Chen Ming stopped in his tracks.

But the boss noticed Chen Ming, waved at him, signaling him to come over.

When he approached the hardware store, the boss suddenly looked him up and down and asked, ”Why do you seem a bit tense?”

Chen Ming casually explained, ”Just completed an experiment. The process was a bit challenging, but the results were good.”

As Chen Ming spoke, the boss noticed him quickly calming down and didn’t say much.

After exchanging a few words,

Chen Ming left voluntarily, as time didn’t permit him to keep bothering the boss.

Once the boss disappeared from his sight,

Chen Ming took a long breath and then walked all the way back to the Supreme Point.

Boarding the spaceship, he headed to the captain’s cabin.

Someone was waiting for him there.

And this person looked exactly like Chen Ming.

To be precise, the Chen Ming on the spaceship was the real Chen Ming.

The ”Chen Ming” who had just gone out to meet old Wu, the manager, and the boss, was merely a dummy controlled by Chen Ming’s consciousness and looked identical to him.

This wasn’t cloning technology but a technique mastered by the Insect Queen.

By using Chen Ming’s genes and employing the method of Manufacturing ordinary Insect Race, a pure fake body was created.

The effect of the dummy was simple and direct; he had just personally experienced it.

This dummy technology was something Chen Ming specifically had the Insect Queen develop a while back.

It was essentially the only piece of good news that could come out of what he thought the Insect Queen was doing back then.

Originally, the Insect Queen was doing two things: cultivating bio-structures for the Insect Race and breeding special Insect Race units.
