Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 683: Chapter 207 Arrival_2

He had to personally adjust and select, picking out useful people from the group, and halfway through, he was tricked into suffering a serious injury.

Only recently has he managed to create a truly trustworthy team.

The current Fourteenth Legion, established for just twenty years and still engaged in frontline battles with Dusk, cannot avoid such issues.

The situation within forces that have been established for even longer is undoubtedly grim.

And as the aggregation of all forces, the Empire is no different.

”Wait, I almost misled you.”

Bai Quan suddenly realized he wasn’t here to discuss this, and quickly returned to the previous topic, saying: ”Do you really understand why Chen Ming is taking such a risk?”

The Psychic, who apparently couldn’t avoid an investigation, guessed casually: ”Maybe Chen Ming has a way to escape? Should I help you check out his situation?”

”No need, your spiritual energy was detected by him last time, and this time it will be the same.”

”Forget it, I’ll just pretend I didn’t see anything when the time comes. My position doesn’t allow me to do much.”

After chatting for a while, Bai Quan’s confusion over Chen Ming’s irrational actions and the slight anger within him subsided considerably.

If someone Bai Quan didn’t know made some overtly irrational decisions, he wouldn’t even pay them a second glance.

But since Chen Ming is someone he knows, and after these months of interactions, they are quite familiar with each other.

That’s why, when Bai Quan couldn’t stop Chen Ming from making such a self-destructive decision, he felt that anger.

But now that he’s calmed down, he has nothing more to say; they’re adults, they have to be responsible for their own decisions.

However, at this moment, the Psychic suddenly said: ”Hey, you should think positively, Chen Ming isn’t an idiot, right?”

”No.”

”Then he must have prepared himself before coming here. Didn’t he say it himself? He made that decision after gaining capabilities; his spiritual energy must have progressed.”

”What you say makes sense, but I don’t know whether his spiritual energy progress is good or bad.”

The Psychic, in an experienced tone, said: ”Don’t worry about Chen Ming himself, or why he’s here, think about what you can have him do now that he’s here.”

”It’s as if even if he did join in as you imagined, normally you wouldn’t be wary of someone with his current level of spiritual energy.”

”His spiritual energy is right there, isn’t prevention necessary? Would your attitudes be different from now?”

Bai Quan considered the hypothetical situation and said: ”At least then I wouldn’t have to worry about Chen Ming having any bad intentions.”

The Psychic immediately asked: ”How’s your relationship with him?”

”It’s okay.”

”Then since he’s in contact with you daily, learning technology from you, he suddenly plans to harm you without warning? What do you think?”

”The main thing is that his behavior today was suddenly very strange, it’s hard for me not to overthink.”

”Then try another thought process, what if he’s just tricking you? Maybe he simply doesn’t want to learn today and found an excuse; is that possible?”

”It’s unlikely.”

”The probability isn’t zero, right?”

Bai Quan thought it over again.

Chen Ming’s mental state has always been quite stable, and he usually expresses himself appropriately and reasonably; it’s unlikely he would suddenly use such awkward manners to express his thoughts.

But today, Chen Ming gave him a familiar yet unfamiliar feeling, making it hard for him to be sure.

However, Bai Quan’s emotions were quickly stabilizing, soon realizing it was just his friend joking around.

Something that he usually considered a mere jest, unexpectedly made him ponder seriously.

Bai Quan hurriedly dragged the topic back to the original subject.

The matter concerning Chen Ming already had a conclusion.

Which was that Chen Ming would be responsible for his own decisions.

So the Psychic didn’t continue to joke around but said seriously: ”Anyway, just do your job well, simply assume Chen Ming wants to join your Fourteenth Legion to participate in the war, and assign him some tasks.”

Bai Quan responded matter-of-factly: ”Actually, it’s a bit tricky to arrange since he’s the strongest in Mechanical Race research, and fighting is out of the question.”

”Then just set up a research institute for him, appoint him as director, and call him to attend battles meetings to observe.”

”Capable people find the right things to do themselves, you don’t have to arrange everything for him.”

”Shouldn’t you be better at this sort of arranging than me? Wait, don’t tell me you haven’t organized anything at all?”

Bai Quan denied: ”How could that be? I’ve arranged things, but since I came to you, I might as well ask for your opinions. You’re the easiest Psychic for me to find, what do you suggest about arranging Chen Ming?”

”My opinion?”

”Honestly, I’d say let him participate in those small-scale reconnaissance missions you have now, it might work.”

”It’s not like it’s a large-scale conflict with the Mechanical Race where you can’t just involve someone who might not follow orders.”

”Isn’t small-scale missions flexible? He knows about the Mechanical Race, it might be beneficial, no?”

”Moreover, Chen Ming’s spiritual energy can affect objects under his control.”
