Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 662: Chapter 202: The Empire’s Direction

In the moment when the enemy fleet broke through the defense line and approached the flagship at the cost of massive losses.

Chen Ming didn’t hesitate. The twelve ships by his side immediately maneuvered, all blocking the firing trajectory of the enemy fleet.

Relying on the simulation setting of thirty times the radiation energy dissipation and the ability to forcibly dissipate hard radiation without shutting down shields and weapons to withstand the focused fire on the flagship.

However, the nearly tenfold numerical disadvantage and uninterrupted attacks made it difficult for Chen Ming’s ships to completely absorb all the firepower even with various enhancements.

Losses soon appeared.

Even though Chen Ming’s ships could be reshaped into new ones after being lost, it was still difficult to completely block the opponent’s desperate firepower at the last chance.

In an instant, all the ships guarding the flagship were destroyed, and the flagship’s shield was also attacked to the verge of collapse.

Then, at the next moment.

Another ship once again blocked in front of the flagship.

Chen Ming’s dozen or so spiritually energy-augmented ships successfully delayed the enemy’s firepower until the front line fleet turned around and returned.

At the same time, a part of the divided fleet from another side bit into Cheng Xinghai’s fleet, completely trapping it.

And the battle damage ratio of Cheng Xinghai’s fleet was already hopeless during the forced breakthrough.

When Chen Ming successfully delayed time without being eliminated by Cheng Xinghai’s plan, her fleet was destined for destruction.

The outcome was decided.

Chen Ming finally let down the anxiety he had been holding on to.

He quickly noted Cheng Xinghai’s unexpected plan that almost succeeded, vowing never to make the same mistake again in similar situations.

Then, Chen Ming roughly estimated the mental power consumption required for those psychic actions he performed in the simulation battle earlier.

If it exceeded his mental power limit, he would consciously admit defeat.

Cheating would make it meaningless.

However, after a bit of calculation, Chen Ming could basically determine that his spiritual power consumption was negligible.

After all, in this simulation, there was not a single cruiser-level ship, and the consumption of frigates and destroyers was just trivial.

So, in the end, Chen Ming’s side lost fifty-three ships, including twelve destroyers, out of three hundred.

On the other side, facing complete annihilation, already surrounded by Chen Ming’s fleet, with Chen Ming’s spiritual energy support, the opponent wouldn’t be able to destroy a single ship.

However, Chen Ming didn’t receive any victory notification.

So they continued to rely on the fleets that had bitten the enemy fleet’s tail to keep destroying the remaining ships.

Also capturing those escape pods launched from the ships in the simulation.

Then spent some more time carefully recalling the final scene earlier.

Looking back now, Chen Ming realized he could have foreseen the problem with his flagship’s position in advance, and a slight adjustment would have left the opponent with no chance.

He could even use the position of his own flagship as a second trap to completely crush the opponent.

Chen Ming shook his head slightly, there was nothing much to say.

He was indeed still inexperienced.

And at this moment, on the side of the Fourteenth Legion headquarters.

Cheng Xinghai had also completely given up resisting, removing the wire-studded device from her head and dialing Bai Quan’s number.

While waiting for the call to connect, her eyes gradually became teary.

As soon as it connected.

”Uncle Bai—”

Bai Quan immediately hung up the call.

After a while, Bai Quan called back and said, ”Are you okay?”

This time when Bai Quan called, Cheng Xinghai had returned to normal, at least seemingly.

”Yeah, is Chen Ming’s spiritual energy really that strong?”

”Fake.”

”Then how did he...”

”He was even stronger. I had told him to hold back a bit, not to just use spiritual energy to take you out directly.”

”...”

Cheng Xinghai hung up the phone.

She curled up in the equipment, hugging her knees, motionless.

Seeing the busy tone on the terminal, Bai Quan could roughly guess that Cheng Xinghai had shut herself off.

The sibling rivalry between Cheng Xinghai and Cheng Xinghe had occurred frequently in the past.

He had seen countless times when the two proclaimed boldly before the fight and fell silent after it ended, with the loser retreating into their room in solitude an uncountable number of times.

In the past, he was worried they might actually be too withdrawn, but later realized that their retreat was purely for self-reflection.

Once they had reflected enough and regained the confidence to fight again, they would emerge.

Bai Quan had grown very familiar with this routine over the years and thought it was not a big deal.

Moreover, Cheng Xinghai’s performance just now wasn’t too bad either. At least she was able to quickly come up with countermeasures without much knowledge of Chen Ming’s spiritual energy, and in a situation of full battle disadvantage, she almost won.

If she could have retained four or five more ships, Chen Ming’s previous flagship would not have withstood the last wave of firepower output.

But unfortunately, there are no ifs.

However, Bai Quan thought further.

Back in the day, Cheng Xinghe was pitted against a Chen Ming without fully developed spiritual energy and only a broken fleet.

They barely ended in a draw, with external interference eventually leading to Cheng Xinghe’s capture.
