Chapter 655: Chapter 200 Chairperson’s Thoughts_2

Bai Quan returned to his normal smiling appearance and whispered, ”Nineteen.”

At the same time, he gave the chairman a look indicating they would talk later, and then returned to the person he was chatting with as if nothing had happened.

The chairman understood and went elsewhere with his glass.

Meanwhile, Wu An, who was by the chairman’s side when he was questioned, had been paying full attention to the chairman’s activities.

When the chairman left Bai Quan’s side, the terminal in Wu An’s hand already displayed Chen Ming’s communication code.

But he was still pondering.

After thinking for a while, he finally turned off the terminal and muttered to himself, ”The age difference is a bit too much, but it’s not impossible.”

The latter half of the banquet was mostly about the participants discussing business matters.

And after the banquet ended.

The chairman received an invitation from Bai Quan and went to his residence.

When the chairman arrived, besides Bai Quan, Wu An was already seated there.

The three of them sat in silence around the coffee table at Bai Quan’s place, feeling a bit awkward.

Because they didn’t know what to say.

Even though they’ve handled all sorts of complicated matters, things that were extremely troublesome as well, they all had similar experiences.

But now the thing they needed to discuss was something none of the three knew how to broach.

Finally, the oldest, the chairman, was the first to place Chen Ming’s identity profile on the coffee table, pushing it towards Bai Quan, and asked, ”What do you think?”

Bai Quan picked up the profile, which he was already very familiar with, looked at it for a long time, and finally squeezed out a sentence, ”I think there’s no problem.”

Then the two looked at Wu An together.

Wu An shrugged and asked, ”Why are you looking at me?”

Bai Quan immediately said, ”You are his guide into the Spiritual Energy path, his elder. Aren’t you going to worry about this matter for him? He’s already twenty-six.”

”Does he know I’m his elder?”

”A Spiritual Energy elder is still an elder. I’ve heard that ever since he gave up the corporate path, you’ve been guiding him on the Psychic path. Don’t you have to worry about things like this?”

Wu An gave a helpless expression and said, ”But I go into hibernation every few years, have never been married; can I still worry for him? It’s good enough that he doesn’t have to worry for me.”

”And haven’t you been married? You should have experience in such matters.”

Bai Quan immediately retorted, ”I’m an orphan like Chen Ming. My marriage was arranged by the person who brought me along; I have absolutely no experience myself, so I called you over.”

After Bai Quan finished speaking, his gaze shifted to the oldest present, the chairman, whose son’s age was even close to theirs.

The chairman quickly waved his hand and said, ”Don’t look at me. I’m not really good at this; my relationship with my son isn’t that great right now, as you know, Mr. Wu An.”

The three fell silent again for a long time.

Wu An suddenly coughed twice and said, ”How about we think of this from another perspective, looking at the value this matter has for everyone involved?”

”First, for me, I’m very happy to see Chen Ming grow, isn’t that without question?”

”Indeed,” Bai Quan nodded, ”No problem, everyone knows your thoughts.”

”Then for Bai Quan, you can bring Chen Ming closer to your Fourteenth Legion through this matter, which would definitely be beneficial for you, right?”

”No problem either.”

”So for Chairman Xu, as the one who initially suggested this idea, if Chen Ming smoothly accepted this outcome, then as... a matchmaker, you could ease the slightly awkward relationship Chen Ming has with Sinda Corporation, right?”

”Correct.”

The chairman acknowledged Wu An’s words and his thoughts.

Wu An paused for a moment and asked, ”Then what about for Chen Ming? Is there any benefit for him?”

The chairman asked, ”Does establishing a family and career count as a benefit?”

Wu An, having thought about this aspect when the chairman questioned him earlier, quickly said, ”Establishing a family and career might be something many people want, but I didn’t see that idea in Chen Ming.”

”But I feel he’s not resisting; he just simply has no thoughts for now; he wants to pursue his own career.”

”If there’s enough value and if it’s me bringing this up to him, he might still agree.”

”It’s barely a benefit.”

Bai Quan thought for a moment and said, ”If this really works out, no matter how it works out, Chen Ming would be directly counted in our Fourteenth Legion.”

”Our Fourteenth Legion’s resources can more extensively invest in him, treating him as one of our own.”

”Additionally... there are some implicit benefits.”

”Right now, Chen Ming’s situation is making those at the top a bit worried, worried that Chen Ming might abandon his relationship with the Empire.”

Wu An immediately denied, ”Chen Ming wouldn’t abandon it. He’s always been trying to push forward trade with the Empire through me and you, even if he leaves, he just doesn’t want to be restricted by the Empire’s rules.”

Bai Quan shook his head slightly and said, ”You know he won’t, but the people at the top won’t think that way.”

”Currently, Chen Ming hasn’t the ability to detach from the Empire, but those at the top will definitely restrain him before he truly gains the ability to live independently outside the Empire.”

”Unless more from the Empire can engage him, keeping his focus within, like you, Wu An, and his few friends.”

”If this can work out, having the Fourteenth Legion’s network tie Chen Ming down, keeping him closely connected with the Empire, makes it unlikely for things we all don’t want to see to happen in the future.”
