Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 688: Chapter 208 Arrangement_3

”So, in terms of Mechanical Race research, you’re now the authority.”

”There are many researchers studying the Mechanical Race who are willing to assist you, to be the assistant to a Psychic, and there’s nothing shameful about that.”

Alright.

It seems he doesn’t need to prove his words are correct; someone has already verified it for him.

Those researchers who want to be his assistants...

”I must personally select them, and it’s best if you can also give me some newcomers.”

Bai Quan immediately agreed, ”No problem, I’ll send you the list by then, so you can choose for yourself.”

Seeing Chen Ming agree with his idea, Bai Quan said, ”Alright, then from now on this will be your research institute. Do you want to give it a name?”

My research institute...

Chen Ming shook his head and said, ”Let’s just call it the Extraordinary Research Institute.”

Bai Quan was momentarily stunned, then smiled after realizing, ”I suspect you’re trying to imitate a certain research institute, but that’s fine.”

”Then let me make this clear, your research institute is required to periodically study some special items similar to the Purgatory Core that we send to you.”

”Apart from researching those things, you can study whatever you want, as long as it’s related to the Mechanical Race.”

”In all aspects related to Mechanical Race research, all your needs can be met.”

Chen Ming somewhat uncertainly asked, ”Anything I want to research?”

”Anything you want, even if you want to research how many kilowatts of electricity the Mechanical Race consumes for breakfast, as long as it’s related to them.”

”These seemingly useless details will eventually accumulate, and someone will find important connections among them.”

Chen Ming asked with some confusion, ”What’s the reasoning behind this?”

”Over the years, the Empire has faced opponents not just like Dusk and the Mechanical Race, yet most of those other opponents are now extinct, thanks to our continuous research on those things.”

”Someone will inevitably find the key points amidst the extensive research outcomes, then combine them to uncover the enemy’s fatal weakness, and then there’s nothing more to it.”

Chen Ming immediately thought of an enemy that fits Bai Quan’s current words.

Thorn Insect Race.

When Chen Ming searched for the Thorn Insect Race before, he found a vast number of papers, extremely diverse.

Those papers seemed unrelated to each other and meaningless.

But Chen Ming indeed saw at the end of a very detailed paper, which clearly explained various situations of the Insect Race, a pile of referenced articles.

When an enemy has been thoroughly studied from what they eat for breakfast to what color blanket they use at night, defeating such an enemy really becomes effortless.

”That works, I got it.”

”Alright, that’s all for the research institute for now, let me clarify what’s needed for your personal matters.”

”What matters?”

Bai Quan placed a hand on Chen Ming’s shoulder while placing the other on his own chest, saying, ”You have come to our Fourteenth Legion and intend to change the original learning schedule.”

”But I don’t have that much time, half a day is the maximum time I can spare.”

”I’ll need others to be responsible for teaching you for the remaining half-day.”

Chen Ming understood and nodded, ”I get it.”

”It’s great that you understand.”

”The morning will remain as regular teaching, I’ll come directly to you then.”

”As for the afternoon, I’ll assign personnel tomorrow, and in the morning, I’ll let the instructor meet with you.”

”No problem.”

”Okay, then let me ask you one last time, are you sure you really want to stay here? You can see your current situation.”

Though Bai Quan didn’t clarify, Chen Ming had already understood.

Even after coming to the Fourteenth Legion, he can no longer freely leave the dome where he is currently situated.

His spiritual energy is feared by many; who would wish for the place they stay every day to be suddenly controlled by a Psychic, along with everything else being dominated by them?

So the implication in Bai Quan’s words is very clear; there’s still time to back out.

But since Chen Ming came here, he certainly wouldn’t change his mind casually; he replied firmly, ”I’m sure.”

Bai Quan stared at Chen Ming for a while and said, ”I hope your decision is the right one.”

”Alright, that’s everything regarding your matters, right? If there’s anything, say it now, and I’ll help you resolve it.”

Chen Ming thought for a moment and said, ”You mentioned that the equipment and manpower will be sent to me soon, and new research subjects will be sent once I’ve finished studying the Purgatory Core. When there’s no research task, I can do whatever I want.”

”Then regarding the learning aspect, since you don’t have much time, you’re preparing to find an instructor for me. Is that all? Feels like something’s missing.”

Bai Quan immediately asked, ”What’s missing?”

”Aren’t we at war with the Mechanical Race now? Although you said it’s still in the early stages, you haven’t mentioned anything about it.”

A significant reason Chen Ming came to the Fourteenth Legion was to participate in the war against the Mechanical Race, so Bai Quan can’t ignore this matter.

Bai Quan quickly said, ”About that, I know, but do you understand any of it right now?”

Chen Ming, regarding what Bai Quan taught at the current stage, most of it is battlefield fleet command knowledge and hasn’t delved too deeply into such Star Realm level warfare.

If Chen Ming were to understand, he might not even comprehend the detailed situation between the Empire and the Mechanical Race right now.

And Bai Quan continued, ”Actually, I’ve already thought about this. I’ll talk to your new instructor about this matter and have him give you some intensive training on it in the next few days.”
