Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 654: Chapter 200 Chairperson’s Thoughts

The chairman’s thoughts were gradually taking shape.

He had a fairly good understanding of Chen Ming’s situation, at least for the first twenty-odd years before he went into hibernation.

An orphan by birth, during his university days he was recruited by Sinda Corporation because of his excellent grades.

Upon joining the company, he was wholly devoted to his career, reaching a good level right after graduation.

Then, if he were promoted and sent out but could return, it wouldn’t be a problem for him to become a department head after a few years.

Although at this point, an accident occurred.

But if the accident hadn’t happened, and if Chen Ming returned safely, it might have been possible for him to become head of a branch company by the time he retired, if all went well.

It was clear that Chen Ming invested a lot in his career.

Even after escaping from the Space Station, his focus has always remained on his career.

Therefore, he naturally didn’t invest much energy in other areas.

So, the chairman suddenly thought that he could offer some help in these areas and use these matters to draw closer to Chen Ming.

Now that Chen Ming is a Psychic, conversing effortlessly with the bigwigs of the Spiritual Ability Association and the Vice Admiral of the Fourteenth Legion, his status and position are naturally incomparable to before.

So the person he chooses must be considered prudently.

And just now, he found a suitable candidate.

Cheng Xinghai, a lively young individual with a charming face and an obedient expression like the girl next door.

Although she comes from a military background and her personality seems a bit different from ordinary girls, she should be suitable.

Moreover, based on Bai Quan’s achievements and the fact that Chen Ming entrusted the sale of an important technology to Bai Quan, it’s evident that Bai Quan’s relationship with Chen Ming is not ordinary.

But there seems to be no sign of further development for now, and it appears Bai Quan doesn’t have this intention at the moment.

So what the chairman wants to do is to bring up this matter.

Of course, the premise is to first investigate the feasibility to avoid being chased away by Bai Quan as a nuisance.

So after everyone had seen what Wu An brought and returned near the banquet area, where the crowd gradually dispersed to socialize,

the chairman approached Wu An, who was conscientiously staying by himself.

Just as Wu An was considering whether to manually chase the chairman away to enjoy a quiet place, the chairman asked, ”How old is Xiao Ming this year?”

”?”

Wu An, puzzled, glanced at the chairman and asked back, ”Don’t you know, as the employer?”

The chairman unceremoniously lowered his pride, suppressed his awkwardness with a dry cough and said, ”Just confirming.”

Wu An didn’t immediately figure out what the chairman was up to, so he normally replied, ”Let me think, he should be twenty-six.”

”When he went into hibernation, he was twenty-five in nominal age, twenty-four in actual age, and the rest of the time was spent in hibernation.”

”It’s almost been a year now, but I’m not sure of his exact birthday.”

The chairman had reviewed Chen Ming’s profile countless times, and he clearly knew exactly how old Chen Ming was; his question was merely a prelude to what he intended to say next.

”Twenty-six, that’s not young, has he mentioned any thoughts on things suitable for someone his age to do?”

”?”

Wu An suddenly realized the chairman’s intention and looked at him with increasingly odd eyes.

However, another glance towards Bai Quan’s direction, paired with recent reflections over past events, led him to say, ”Not really, but given his current environment, he doesn’t encounter suitable people, so... you could try.”

The chairman nodded slightly, exchanged a few words with Wu An about the living conditions in Pirate Space Station, and then headed towards Bai Quan.

Bai Quan quickly noticed the chairman, maintaining a certain distance from him, looking as if he had something to say but was hesitant.

As the leader of the company where Chen Ming had worked before, and a party in the previous planned rescue mission for Chen Ming, Bai Quan remembered him.

So Bai Quan greeted the people around him and then came over to the chairman alone.

The chairman hurriedly raised his glass and said, ”Vice Admiral Bai, we’ve met before.”

Bai Quan, smiling, without a hint of his former coldness due to a generous gift from Chen Ming, replied,

”I remember, Chairman Xu of Sinda Corporation, we even talked before about the annual bidding for spaceship technology. What’s the matter?”

The chairman’s lips twitched slightly as he glanced at the other partners looking at him from behind Bai Quan; he knew he couldn’t take his time with Bai Quan.

So after a brief moment of hesitation, he chose a direct approach and asked, ”How old is that young lady from before?”

Bai Quan’s smile immediately vanished and he became vigilant.

Cheng Xinghai and Cheng Xinghe were both from a different generation than him, and he had always paid attention to their development.

Having been approached a few days ago regarding matters related to Cheng Xinghe, he was well aware of the chairman’s intentions after suddenly inquiring about Cheng Xinghai.

The chairman also realized why Bai Quan’s attitude suddenly changed upon hearing his words, and promptly added in a low voice, ”Chen Ming is twenty-six this year.”

Bai Quan instantly grasped the chairman’s intent.

He hadn’t originally considered this idea, but prompted by the chairman’s mention, upon reflection, it seemed... not a bad one.
