Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 391: Chapter 142: Fully Prepared

After realizing it wasn’t the previous director who helped him that wanted to hit him with his things.

Chen Ming didn’t have as many strange thoughts anymore and directly addressed the core of the issue, asking the factory director, ”What’s the background of this new director?”

The factory director, who seemed like he’d been wanting to say it for a while, replied, ”This is a bit convoluted to say, but it should be understandable.”

”The Sky Steel issue has already been resolved, so the Fourteenth Legion has reopened the star system to us.”

”We’re re-investigating and counting the number and growth conditions of the Altrulan air eels, then determining how often these air fish can produce Sky Steel Ore.”

”Although what’s lost before cannot be recovered, the future company accounts must be clear.”

”Since the interest in Sky Steel has already entered the company’s belly, it must be digested.”

”The majority of the Sky Steel definitely belongs to the entire company, to be used in the future to reduce the cost of spaceship manufacturing, no longer needing to purchase at a high price elsewhere.”

”Or it can be used in the R&D of spaceships. Sky Steel is one of the top-grade materials out there; with massive production, it should be needed in many places.”

”However, not all of these materials can be used within the company; some of it must be shared.”

”Therefore, the different departments within the company need to distribute these interests, and simultaneously find ways to fend off other forces eyeing this piece of meat.”

The factory director explained the current situation of the company to Chen Ming and began to talk about more detailed matters.

”Because it’s due to you that we got back the Sky Steel, and I was the first to interact with you, the first to know about your situation, and the one who informed the company about you.”

”Therefore, the company’s ability to recover Sky Steel is also related to me, hence the departments behind me could get the biggest share.”

”As for the rest of the things, it depends on who contributed more to this matter; they’ll get more in the end.”

”But the specifics aren’t as simple as I make it sound, and it’s too complicated so I won’t go into detail and waste your time.”

”You should know in the end, the director in charge of the Pirate Space Station relented, which is how it got here.”

The factory director paused a bit, then continued, ”There’s old Wu in the Space Station, who you also know, so the value of a position here is quite high, especially the position of the director.”

”And just so you know, I’m friends with old Wu privately, but I don’t use my relationship with old Wu to handle company matters.”

”Anyway, I’ve clearly explained from the company side, no one can force me, not even the chairman.”

The factory director suddenly joked, ”It’ll be the same even if you make it big.”

However, Chen Ming said seriously, ”If that day truly comes, I wouldn’t mind actually.”

The factory director wasn’t surprised, muttered something unclear, and continued to talk about the company’s issues.

”Although the actual power in the Space Station still lies in the deputy director’s hands, the new director still has some power.”

”If he has his eye on your things, he indeed has the power to take them away.”

”In any case, the current director and I have no relation, nor does he with the current deputy, rather their relationship is quite poor.”

”After all, who would give a good face to a leader parachuted in out of nowhere?”

”Moreover, he’s personally not very competent.”

The factory director’s tone suddenly turned somewhat annoyed: ”You know our maintenance factory, though we have few people, we have many lucrative areas.”

”Then he arranged for several people who do nothing to come in and take salaries.”

”Arranging people to take salaries for nothing would be one thing, but damn, he keeps changing my purchase order arrangements, choosing suppliers from who knows where, and the goods coming in are at least two grades inferior.”

”He’s happily taking his cut, and it’s giving me a real headache.”

”How many people are there in the maintenance factory?”

”Not long ago, several people died over time. Hardly managed to hire three newcomers, but one died, one was a spy, leaving only one still alive.”

”With such a small amount of people, there are still those who get salaries without doing any work every day, old Wu is stirring to skip work, and Bald over there is quite upset too, constantly nagging me that he’s earned enough and wants to retire.”

”The only newcomer who survived from before is now considered an old hand.”

”He’s even younger than you, yet his temper is actually fiery, in front of you and old Wu and other seniors he’s like an obedient child, but once he meets those foolish directors arranged by that idiot, he wants to quarrel, and once they start, it turns into a fight.”

”I still have to step in, and if I’m not around, I can’t stop him and still have to clean up his mess; if he leaves again, I truly won’t have anyone to work.”

”Also, the few newcomers I’ve recently recruited on my own, they have said nothing yet and are still learning technology, but if they continue to see more of those loafers, sooner or later, issues will arise again.”

”I’m really... ugh, it’s a headache.”

The factory director let out a long breath, expressing all his grievances in one go.

It was clear that the pressure was indeed quite big and he needed to vent a bit.

And from Chen Ming’s impression, the factory director actually liked money.

Previously, when he was doing private second-hand goods refurbishing to earn a profit, he looked pretty upset when it couldn’t continue.

Suddenly someone directly comes to snatch the maintenance factory’s business, it could even be said they’re trying to close the maintenance factory.

If the factory director wasn’t angry, that would be strange.

So, Chen Ming very considerately asked, ”I just happen to be going back these days, should I conveniently take care of these people?”

The factory director was stunned for a moment, then quickly said, ”No no no, there are debts and debtors for every grievance. If people rob your resources and spaceship, just get rid of their boss, that’s enough.”
