Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 355: Chapter 133 Cloning Research Institute

Bai Quan managed to barely control the chaos of the Fourteenth Legion with his own reputation, military rank, and that revolver.

However, this time he came to the Gallo Star Realm, and not all soldiers of the Fourteenth Legion under him were his former subordinates. They had their own thoughts and could easily be incited by others, especially those from the Battle Zone.

Therefore, if he wanted to completely suppress the internal opposition, he had to achieve some merit.

As such, he needed the help of Chen Ming.

Bai Quan quickly explained his purpose to Chen Ming.

To which Chen Ming retorted, ”So? Are you expecting me, someone captured by Dusk, to help you?”

Bai Quan earnestly said, ”Mr. Chen Ming, we now know the name of the equipment delivered by Dusk, the Spirit Awakening Nerve Extractor.”

”Considering the time, Dusk should have activated it on you at least once already, maybe during the last raid or in the recent two days.”

”You are still alive, which means your spiritual energy has abilities stronger than the Enlightenment Nerve used by this equipment.”

”And you are neither fleeing nor becoming despondent after this, but even have time to converse with me.”

”This implies you are confident you can escape from the Dusk Star Realm.”

”I have always regarded your abilities with the highest potential. I believe that after losing your previous control over the Alpha Level Dusk, you must have controlled a new one.”

”Or perhaps, you’ve already controlled many before.”

”If the Alpha Level Dusk being controlled is discovered, Dusk will definitely be extremely tense and is likely to conduct an internal purge, which will also expose your situation.”

”So you are waiting for an opportunity, and the key moment is before the Spirit Awakening Nerve Extractor is activated a second time.”

”You will rise up then, leading the Dusk you control out of the Dusk Star System.”

Bai Quan guessed Chen Ming’s plan correctly.

And he guessed it by assuming Chen Ming was very strong, thus likely having such capability, leaving Chen Ming momentarily speechless.

After a moment of silence, Chen Ming spoke, ”So what do you want to do?”

Bai Quan replied, ”I want to solidify all the Fourteenth Legion soldiers’ trust in me.”

”Victory is the best way to achieve that.”

”As long as I can win, as long as I can bring merit to all my soldiers, they will fully support me.”

”A failed, disgraced commander who was executed by me would have no impact on me afterward.”

”Because the soldiers will know that it is I who can bring them victory, not those stirring trouble from the shadows.”

With these thoughts in mind, Bai Quan devised such a plan.

He was actually taking a gamble since he did all this before Chen Ming agreed to it.

If Chen Ming doesn’t agree, it means he has pushed himself to the limit.

He would have to put in tremendous effort to completely resolve the situation, with the constant risk of it going completely awry.

However, correspondingly, the gains and growth he would derive from this matter would certainly surpass those which could be achieved with Chen Ming’s help.

Moreover, there were other reasons for Bai Quan’s actions.

His current batch of Fourteenth Legion soldiers had been significantly infiltrated by others compared to the ones from his native region.

He felt that the leadership had arranged his personnel in such a deliberate way right from the beginning.

Under such circumstances, even if problems don’t erupt now, they might in the future.

Bringing the situation to a head early is not a bad thing.

Furthermore, issues had already erupted once—these infiltrators had become bold enough to act against him, and what they might dare to do in future is unimaginable.

Thus, bringing the situation to this point was an intentional and proactive move by Bai Quan.

Destroy to build anew.

Either he fails this time, slinking back to the home of the Fourteenth Legion in disgrace.

Or he seizes control of the Fourteenth Legion, achieving significant progress.

Of course, it’s not that Bai Quan wouldn’t achieve such progress even with Chen Ming’s help.

Apart from the assistance Chen Ming could provide regarding Dusk, he still had to face numerous internal issues by himself.

Bai Quan was promoted from battlefield command to his current general headquarters position for the first time.

Inexperienced, he needed to go through learning and trial to understand precisely what he should do in this role.

This is his task, his goal.

These are not areas where Chen Ming can assist.

Only by resolving these issues can Bai Quan be considered to have made progress in terms of ability.

After listening to Bai Quan, Chen Ming gestured for him to continue.

Chen Ming had no doubts about Bai Quan’s intentions.

It was normal for the Fourteenth Legion to not be entirely made up of Bai Quan’s men when he came here, and for new subordinates to be skeptical of Bai Quan was also normal.

And a commander who could bring victory would naturally be more favored than one who led to massive personnel losses.

Chen Ming saw nothing wrong with his actions.

However, Chen Ming was actually more curious about Bai Quan’s plan and what it could bring him.

Upon Chen Ming’s indication to continue, Bai Quan slowly and thoroughly explained his specific ideas to Chen Ming.

In simple terms.

Since Bai Quan needed sufficient military success to establish his standing, he needed Chen Ming to help create such an opportunity, a chance to significantly damage Dusk.
