Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 375: Chapter 138: Dimensional Infection

After the initial surprise, the boss quickly asked, ”How can you be sure that what’s in your mind is the Ship Spirit? And how do you know about this concept of Ship Spirit?”

Chen Ming couldn’t really answer the boss’s question. He could only respond somewhat ambiguously based on his intuition, ”I’m not really sure.”

”It was when I was planning to keep a distance from the big heart that I suddenly sensed the Ship Spirit, and then this term just automatically popped into my head.”

”I only know the Ship Spirit is symbiotic with me, and it originated from my Spiritual Energy.”

The boss pondered silently for a moment, ultimately choosing to believe Chen Ming’s explanation.

He had already witnessed Chen Ming’s genius in the realm of Spiritual Energy.

So even though Chen Ming hadn’t undergone systematic study, hadn’t seen the Ship Spirit, nor knew of its existence.

Discovering that the Ship Spirit originated from Spiritual Energy and is symbiotic with the Psychic upon contact is a perfectly normal thing.

”Let me give you a rough explanation then.”

”The Ship Spirit can be considered as another life for the Psychic, and it is something no one can take away.”

”Just like what you understood, the Ship Spirit and the Psychic are symbiotic, so it will instinctively protect the Psychic.”

”Since your Ship Spirit is not on the ship, but with you, it indicates your ship is gone, correct?”

”Your Ship Spirit must have done something.”

A previous scene flashed in Chen Ming’s mind, and he responded, ”Yes, my ship was lost during the operation with the Fourteenth Legion, and it indeed protected me.”

The boss nodded habitually and continued, ”However, the value of the Ship Spirit is not limited to this; it excels in aiding ship control and enhancing ship AI effects.”

”Moreover, it can manifest the characteristics of your Spiritual Energy on your spaceship, and that’s the key point.”

”Enhancing AI? Manifesting characteristics?”

”That’s right.”

”Enhancing AI is probably easy for you to understand.”

”Ships above cruiser class basically have at least Delta Level AI, except for Speed Particle Technology’s Torrent Level AI, which is an exception.”

”The reason why it’s called Ship Spirit, apart from its origin from the Psychic, is also due to the spiritual nature of the Ship Spirit.”

”Ship Spirit is a Spiritual Creature; it possesses its own consciousness.”

”Though the consciousness of the Ship Spirit is quite simple, it’s sufficient to compensate for the personality missing in the Delta Level AI Core.”

”A Ship Spirit with simple consciousness can, as long as it cooperates with the Psychic, adjust the rigid AI Core’s computational power according to the Psychic’s will, achieving excellent results.”

”And moreover, since the Ship Spirit and the Psychic are symbiotic, there is never a risk of betrayal from the Ship Spirit.”

”Of course, this effect doesn’t really matter to you.”

The boss understood the effect of Chen Ming’s Spiritual Energy; no matter how the Ship Spirit cooperates with the Psychic, it couldn’t feel as comfortable as the Psychic personally controlling a battleship alone.

So the boss casually mentioned it, and then answered another of Chen Ming’s questions.

”As for the manifestation of characteristics, it’s more complex when explained in detail, so let me give you an example.”

”Suppose there is a Psychic who can control flames, and if he has a Ship Spirit, which resides on his spaceship, then the spaceship might manifest flame characteristics in many ways.”

”Essentially anything related to fire, like increased engine efficiency, weaponry carrying flames, or even the spaceship shield having similar effects.”

”This is just an example with randomly made simple flame-type Psychic effect.”

”If it were a more complex kind of Psychic, the manifestation of characteristics would show significantly different effects.”

When the boss reached this point, he couldn’t help but imagine the future as he spoke, ”I’m really curious about what kind of effect your Ship Spirit can bring to your ship.”

”Make sure when you get a new ship to let the Ship Spirit reside in it; that Supreme Point combined with your Ship Spirit should be excellent.”

”No, wait.”

The boss suddenly realized the issue and said, ”Weren’t we discussing cloning experiments earlier? Got carried away.”

”I’ve already looked into the news from the period of the cloning ban, I have a vague memory of these things, but once I looked at the documents, it all came back.”

The boss sent several documents over to Chen Ming’s terminal, while saying, ”The first problem with cloning experiments occurred a long time ago.”

”Let me give you a premise to help you understand, just in case you don’t know.”

”Everything has a spirit, but clones do not, because clones are entities without consciousness.”

”But clones, like other creatures, exist in the universe, and anything that has vitality can potentially acquire Spiritual Energy; humans become Psychics, other creatures become Spiritual Creatures.”

”Clones have the potential to become Spiritual Creatures rather than Psychics.”

While dealing with the fleshy tissue in the passage before him, Chen Ming took some time to browse several supposedly not highly classified documents the boss had provided while also listening to his explanation.

Even though Chen Ming was multitasking, when the boss reached this part, he instinctively retorted, ”What about vegetative-state patients?”

”Vegetative-state patients also have consciousness, it’s just that it’s too weak to support the body in waking up.”

”Clones are completely different; they’ve bypassed the normal development stages of life, and consciousness is vacant, unless you say that clones are merely genetically cloned embryos that are then birthed naturally, and that’s fine.”
