Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 300: Chapter 119: Research Plan, Spiritual Energy Amplification_3

It was just that Chen Ming didn’t understand the more difficult parts, which required Brilliant to spend a bit more time teaching Chen Ming.

But now, the G3 seemed to have anticipated the situation on Brilliant’s side when assigning tasks.

Various trivial and miscellaneous tasks completely filled up the entire morning’s time.

Although after one whole morning, Chen Ming’s overall spiritual power consumption standard slightly increased, the extension of time and his own mental, not spiritual fatigue, really made it difficult for him to endure.

Fortunately, the afternoon was still designated for routine learning, which G3 would not occupy.

In terms of learning, Chen Ming had already mastered all the knowledge he could currently acquire.

Moreover, he also felt that his current ability was sufficient for doing things beyond learning, and it wasn’t necessary to be rigidly fixed on learning.

So, from his current environment, the most suitable thing to do was naturally to engage in research and development work.

Chen Ming could research some useful things for himself.

Thus, Chen Ming directly proposed an early review for the third time.

The efficiency of learning deeper knowledge while researching is definitely better than relying solely on the technology Chen Ming currently mastered to conduct research.

And the third review process was fairly smooth.

Except that G3 wouldn’t let Chen Ming save time, requiring him to complete all the practical tests himself made Chen Ming quite uncomfortable, as a lot of time was wasted for no reason.

But Chen Ming chose to cooperate because, at this point in time, stability was definitely better for him, and he shouldn’t do anything out of order.

After the review, G3 also provided Chen Ming with some new technologies.

They were basically some in-depth and specialized technologies.

The content was still the old trio: energy weapons, radiant energy systems, and shield systems.

Simultaneously, G3 also gave Chen Ming some of Dusk’s most advanced technologies in these three areas that were still under development, all of which were for Frigates.

This was good news for Chen Ming.

Though his technology posed no problem for Destroyer transformation, in terms of development, he had not yet reached the level where he could meddle with a Destroyer.

This way, Chen Ming had a reference when doing his own things, instead of needing to explore slowly on his own.

The reason for Chen Ming not yet developing Destroyer-related technology is mainly due to the difference in level between Destroyer and Frigate technology.

The technology of these two resembles aerospace technology and ground vehicle technology; after deeper research, the former is undoubtedly harder.

Fortunately, the gap between Frigates and Destroyers hasn’t yet reached the difference between cars and spacecraft.

Chen Ming can still conduct some modifications on Destroyers.

But Destroyers and Cruisers are truly two different things; it would consume countless time and energy to learn.

However, Chen Ming can’t get hold of a Cruiser just yet.

The technology he currently masters is sufficient for his ideas.

Once he finishes researching these specialized technologies, Dusk should provide him with Destroyer level technologies after the next review.

But that’s something for later.

Now, Chen Ming should stay honest and continue research based on the technology he currently possesses.

As for the subject of research beyond learning.

Chen Ming’s idea is to research based on the capabilities his current fleet is lacking.

And speaking of the missing capabilities of the fleet, Chen Ming immediately thought of his spacecraft’s terminal weapon capability.

However, this point had been resolved once he acquired Torrent Level equipment.

The Terminator drone of Torrent, even in standard overload, is enough to destroy a Mule with a single shot.

The ultimate overload to destroy a Frigate is absolutely no big deal.

So Chen Ming turned his attention to other important equipment on the spacecraft.

For example, the radiant energy system.

The overall radiant energy system of Chen Ming’s few spacecrafts is actually quite decent.

Having two Speed Particle Technology ships—Warrior Mod and Torrent—raised the average radiant energy value.

Thus, the weakest aspects of Chen Ming’s current fleet power are twofold: fleet size and spacecraft shields.

For the former, Chen Ming can only slowly make money by robbing pirates to buy spacecraft.

However, the latter is currently Chen Ming’s best target.

The reason being, even today, there is no universally optimal design for spacecraft shields.

Because there are too many factors to consider in shield design.

Shield strength, shield efficiency, shield deployment speed, shield deployment angle, radiant energy consumption for maintaining the shield, shield energy-level protection index, which includes protection indices for the three main types of weapons: solid projectiles, energy weapons, and missile explosions.

Additionally, there are issues like recovery time after the shield is breached, whether coordinated fluctuations in the shield field will affect other spacecraft, and various other issues.

So when designing shields, there hasn’t been a sufficiently universal template within the Human Empire.

Different shields have different effects, and different spacecraft have different needs.

Different companies, different factions, even military departments often use different shields.

Though the final realized effects may seem similar, apart from the military ships, the specifics of how shields are maintained and operated differ significantly.

And the shields on Chen Ming’s ships, especially that of the Centurion, were unworthy of notice.

Although the armor performance of the Centurion is indeed excellent, the shield shouldn’t merely be decoration.
