Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 282: Chapter 115: Dusk’s Urgency

Old Wu, who was shaken by Chen Ming, quickly walked onto the Sentinel once again.

After becoming busy with all sorts of demands from Chen Ming’s side, he seemed to be in much better spirits than before.

However, his habits hadn’t changed; as soon as he boarded the ship, he immediately ran to the captain’s cabin, plopped down in a chair, crossed his legs, and asked, ”Xiao Ming, what’s up this time?”

Chen Ming didn’t rush to explain and instead said, ”No hurry, let’s start with some bad news.”

”I’m about to leave my original place to go to a star system within a star system, an arrangement suddenly made by Dusk that I can’t change. This news needs to be sent out for me, so the company won’t end up empty-handed.”

”Because of this, I might be a bit short on time, so I’m quickly taking advantage of this last bit of time to try out some new things.”

”Oh.”

Old Wu nodded and asked, ”You said Dusk is sending you to a new place? Where?”

As soon as the words fell, Old Wu saw a star map displayed on the control panel in front of him, marking a star system.

”Here? Alright, but why are they suddenly moving you?”

Chen Ming replied, ”It’s not exactly sudden; it was bound to happen sooner or later.”

”The place I was at before was just a temporary arrangement by Dusk, and they definitely want to send me to a place with more secure protection and better technical facilities.”

”I had already thought about it, but when the time really came, I was still a bit reluctant.”

Old Wu asked curiously, ”What is there to be reluctant about?”

”The technology, resources, and environment; I’m a bit reluctant about all that. Dusk even gave me two Speed Particle Spears for experimentation, not just one, for real, which makes me feel a bit guilty about taking advantage of Dusk too much.”

”Speed Particle Spears... that’s indeed impressive, but I heard you blew up a Dusk mining site? You call that feeling guilty about taking advantage?”

”You can’t say it like that, I felt really bad while taking advantage.”

Old Wu casually said, ”What’s there to feel bad about?”

”It’s been so many years since Dusk defected from humans, how many people have died in the wars fought every year?”

”If you don’t count the other people far away, then in the recent past, haven’t you encountered two Dusk attacks? They didn’t show you any mercy at that time, and you almost got killed.”

”What’s there to feel sad about?”

”Yeah.”

Old Wu, who originally thought Chen Ming was just talking nonsense, suddenly seemed to realize something and quickly asked, ”Are you serious? Do you really feel this way?”

Chen Ming didn’t lie and honestly said, ”A little.”

”Goodness, you’ve been brainwashed! Just with a few benefits like this? Wait a sec, how old are you?”

”Twenty-five.”

”I thought so.”

Old Wu suddenly said in a grandfatherly tone, ”Xiao Ming, you’re still too young, not experienced enough. I looked at your resume; it seems like you’ve been quietly studying and working hard to climb up to... what was it, Maintenance Team Leader?”

”Yes.”

”See, if you understood a bit more about socializing, learned some flattery, and how to read faces and set up your colleagues, your skills would’ve taken you further already? Instead of just being a team leader?”

”And you’re feeling bad for screwing over Dusk once? What are you thinking?”

”You have to know Dusk is really cunning, if you have thoughts like this, they’ve scored big.”

”If they treat you a little better next time, will you feel even worse? The more uncomfortable you feel, the less you’ll want to take advantage of them one day, and wouldn’t that be terrible?”

Chen Ming thought carefully and found it really was like Old Wu said.

Of course, Chen Ming wasn’t referring to the pile of workplace ’tips and tricks’ Old Wu mentioned.

Even if Chen Ming wanted to learn those things, he absolutely could, but he just didn’t want to, without any specific reason, he simply didn’t.

Moreover, he had a feeling that if he did learn those skills, his interpersonal relationships would be quite different from now.

So Chen Ming just listened to Old Wu’s words and ignored them, focusing instead on Old Wu’s remarks about Dusk’s actions and the inevitable conflict between Dusk and Chen Ming as a human.

The resentment between Dusk and humans has been brewing for a long time, and it’s definitely not something Chen Ming can ease with normal communication with Dusk.

But it’s not that there’s no way to resolve the conflict between Dusk and humans, just that this method is relatively difficult.

So even though Chen Ming is to some extent working on this, he can’t guarantee success.

But listening to Old Wu’s words, Chen Ming suddenly became more puzzled, what did Brilliant mean when it spoke those few sentences?

Who or what does Brilliant actually believe in?

Forget it.

At least Old Wu’s words allowed Chen Ming to completely let go of the psychological barrier that suddenly popped up, and now he can go back to taking advantage of Dusk without any burden.

After reminding him, Old Wu didn’t chatter much and went back to what Chen Ming just talked about, asking, ”So what do you want to try this time? Most likely it’s the result of your Spiritual Energy?”

”Almost, but not just that, the experiment can wait, I have another thing to talk to you about.”

”About my fleet and the pirates.”

The prototype of Chen Ming’s current fleet has already taken shape.

The two Centurions he previously asked Old Wu to help buy have already docked at the Pirate Space Station.

Torrential Rain and Warrior modifications were also sent back here by Chen Ming a few days ago.

There’s also a Refraction, which is currently on its way back as well.

According to Chen Ming’s previous arrangements, the Refraction is already located among the hundreds of star systems within a fifty-light-year diameter outside the buffer zone of Dusk Mechanical Race.
