Chapter 286: Chapter 116: Warning from the 14th Legion, Dusk’s Spiritual Ability Device

Chen Ming looked at the screen on Old Wu’s terminal, quite confused.

Just moments ago, he had relayed the message he was supposed to send back, and now there’s something else?

He had clearly explained everything he needed to, provided the star system map, and gave Old Wu the exact location to pass on.

Surely they wouldn’t need him to confirm it again, right?

Probably not.

Moreover, the company didn’t interfere with Chen Ming beyond normal monitoring, especially without proactively contacting him before.

Perhaps this sudden contact is due to an urgent matter?

After considering it, Chen Ming decided to acknowledge them.

After all, for Director Old Wu to cooperate and personally find him, it had to be someone with considerable weight in the company.

Plus, with members of the Fourteenth Legion nearby, that was a special signal for why the company was contacting him.

During past occasions when Chen Ming chatted idly with Old Wu after finishing business, Old Wu had mentioned the situation with the Fourteenth Legion,

They had driven away the original garrison in the star zone and replaced the military presence, taking over everything left behind.

Including, of course, Sky Steel.

Due to Sky Steel’s questionable origins, the name of the Fourteenth Legion could deter those who had previously been involved.

For those who still harbored unrealistic ideas about Sky Steel and dared to reach out, the Fourteenth Legion could handle them.

However, the Fourteenth Legion seemed to have some special interest in Sky Steel themselves, though rather ambiguously, leading to some conflict with the company.

If indeed both the Fourteenth Legion and the company showed up together, then there really might be an urgent matter needing his attention.

Understanding this, Chen Ming patched the communication signal into Old Wu’s terminal.

Under Old Wu’s operation, the video communication was connected to the Director’s office.

Of course, Chen Ming’s side didn’t have a video signal; although he initiated the communication, it actually began from the maintenance plant’s Dawn, so now only Chen Ming could see the Director’s office unilaterally.

Upon confirming the signal was connected, the Director seemed serious as he said: ”Xiao Ming, the Fourteenth Legion has a very urgent message they need to discuss directly with you, this gentleman beside me is here as the company’s witness to this matter.”

”If the situation is indeed as they describe, I think you’d better take it seriously.”

”Let them explain the details to you.”

With the Director saying so, Chen Ming had to listen, to hear what exactly the Fourteenth Legion wanted to tell him.

”I understand, I’m listening.”

The Director nodded to the Fourteenth Legion officer beside him.

However, the officer didn’t immediately state their purpose for contacting Chen Ming, but instead mentioned something else.

”Mr. Chen Ming, I don’t know if you’ve been following the Empire’s public war intelligence reports on the Sunset Star Realm, where we’re engaged with Dusk’s main forces.”

Chen Ming knew the Empire had been engaged in battles with Dusk’s main forces elsewhere, though he was only aware of it and generally didn’t focus on the specific military developments.

So Chen Ming gave a negative response.

Hearing this response, the officer said, ”Then let me briefly outline it for you.”

”In our engagement with Dusk at the Sunset Star Realm, we have gained overall advantage recently. After Dusk’s setback leading to a shortening of their defense lines, the battle has reached a stalemate, making further breakthroughs difficult.”

”However, as long as we continue to pressure Dusk, their lines will eventually be breached.”

”So, to seek a way out, Dusk chose to transport a device to some place using a high-output energy source paired with ultra-long-distance transport facilities.”

”We discovered this and made a prompt counter.”

”In this special operation, we managed to break through Dusk’s defenses once more and achieved results, but failed to achieve the final strategic goal, failing to stop Dusk from transporting their object.”

”Yet, under our continued assault, before Dusk could destroy their transported equipment’s data, we succeeded in invading their colony.”

”The special action team retrieved relevant intelligence, and upon investigation, some results emerged, revealing that the Mechanical Race transported some kind of spiritual device.”

Spiritual energy?

Dusk having just brought Chen Ming, an extraordinarily capable Psychic, there, and then suddenly making moves to transport spiritual energy equipment over great distances, would surely be thought connected.

Chen Ming quickly connected the logical dots in his mind, then said to the officer, ”I have a few questions.”

”Please, go ahead.”

”Is there a Psychic in the special action team?”

This question caught the Fourteenth Legion officer a bit off guard.

Evidently, this question was unrelated to the issue at hand, merely something Chen Ming wanted to ask out of personal curiosity, with no impact on the affair’s outcome by answering it.

”Yes.”

”Alright,”

Having satisfied his curiosity, Chen Ming addressed the matter in an official manner, saying, ”From what you’re saying, Dusk is transporting the item to the Dusk here with me, right?”

”Yes.”

”Dusk transported equipment from the Sunset Star Realm to our current location in the Galor Star Realm, even beyond where I am right now, to such a remote place?”

”Yes.”

”They didn’t send anything else? Like a fleet, for instance?”

”No, only the equipment.”

”Why?”

”Dusk’s ultra-long-distance transport equipment is akin to a Star Gate, but its operational logic differs completely from that of a Star Gate.”
