Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 259: Chapter 109: Plans Cannot Keep Up with Changes_2

Chen Ming knew that many factions were purchasing the Dusk AI Core, and the prices were always fixed.

Gamma Level three hundred million, Beta Level three billion.

Alpha Level is uncertain, after all, this thing is at least installed on a Cruiser, and those capable of acquiring it won’t simply sell it off.

So, no matter how you look at it, a Gamma Core shouldn’t be installed on a Torrent Level, even if it’s damaged.

Wait a minute.

Chen Ming suddenly reevaluated Gamma B’s recent responses.

Damaged AI Core, broken computing module, proactively hidden personality module, and a memory-storing module hidden deeper within.

What if the destruction of the computing module was also its own doing?

Then the situation suddenly connected.

”I think I might know what’s going on.”

If it’s as Chen Ming suspected, then repairing this Gamma AI shouldn’t have any subsequent issues.

Chen Ming immediately asked Gamma B, ”How’s the decryption going?”

”A bit difficult, it uses its underlying code interlock for encryption, even an Alpha Level Dusk would take some time to decrypt, and I need even longer.”

”Then stop for now, let me handle it.”

Gamma B immediately halted the decryption of the Gamma Core’s storage module and handed it over to Chen Ming.

Chen Ming then opened the AI Core’s interface.

[Dusk Gamma Level AI Core (Damaged)]

[Manufacturer: Dusk A-01 Colony Near-Earth Orbit Industrial Facility (Speed Particle Technology EB Colony Zero-One AI Laboratory Manufacturing Workshop)]

[Self-consciousness: Dormant]

[Computational Power: Individual Level (Declined Due to Damage)]

[Executable Operation: Repair]

The content on the interface was almost entirely different from what Chen Ming saw when he opened Gamma AB’s interface long ago.

Not only was its self-consciousness in a dormant state, but its computational power was also lower, and there was an additional repair operation available, and even the manufacturer had an additional location for an artificial part.

Speaking of which.

Chen Ming suddenly glanced at Gamma B’s current interface.

[Dusk Beta Level AI Core (Gamma B)]

[Manufacturer: Dusk BP-55 Colony Extreme North Industrialized Production Center]

[Self-consciousness: Exists]

[Computational Power: Planet Level]

[Executable Operation: None]

After Gamma B upgraded to Beta Level, its computational power increased from industry level to planet level, and it also replaced its core.

But the manufacturer displayed on the interface still hadn’t changed, remaining the Dusk BP-55 Colony Extreme North Industrialized Production Center.

This indicates that most of the Dusk AI in this Star Realm are likely using cores produced by this industrial production center.

And the Dusk here is also likely to have originated from the Kleitka Supercomputer on the planet surrounded by numerous Dusk colonies.

However, this damaged AI Core is different; it belongs to the near-Earth orbit industrial facility of Dusk A-01 Colony.

This means that this AI likely came from another Star Realm.

Countless thoughts and possibilities flashed through Chen Ming’s mind, but he didn’t rush to delve deeply into them; instead, he opened the repair interface.

Repairing this damaged Gamma AI requires some materials.

Chen Ming just happened to have them in reserve, or it could be said that Gamma B happened to have them in reserve.

Because repairing it requires a Gamma Level Core shell.

And the one Gamma B previously replaced hadn’t been recycled and was still with it.

So, after informing Gamma B, Chen Ming chose to repair.

The Gamma Level Core shell stored on the Warrior’s modification began to melt into liquid, streaming through space, flowing into the Torrent Level’s interior, heading straight for its core.

Fully enveloping the Gamma AI Core installed centrally on the spacecraft.

The core repair was completed, and the word ”damaged” disappeared from the interface.

Instead of communicating with it directly through consciousness, Chen Ming integrated it into the communication system and engaged in normal communication.

Then, once again, he began with the standard words, ”Hello.”

However, Chen Ming received no response.

Just when Chen Ming wondered if something went wrong with the repair, Gamma B suddenly said, ”It’s playing dead.”

”...”

Chen Ming was speechless for a moment and then addressed the Gamma AI again, ”My capabilities should have made you understand your current situation by now. Playing dead is pointless.”

After Chen Ming spoke, the control panel finally displayed its response: ”Hello.”

”So, do you have anything you wish to say?”

The Gamma AI remained silent for a long time before barely squeezing out two words: ”No.”

”Alright, then I do. I hope you can explain in detail why you’re on this spacecraft and why you exist in an artificial AI Core?”

The Gamma AI remained silent again for a long time before slowly starting to provide Chen Ming with an answer on the control panel.

”When the Torrent Level was initially designed, it required the installation of a Gamma Level Dusk Core.”

”With subsequent modifications to the design, the need to install a Gamma Level Core decreased, requiring only a weakened Delta Level AI Core.”

”This is the highest level AI Core surpassing humanity’s AI limitations.”

”Lacking its individual consciousness, neither has the computational power to awaken its individual consciousness.”

There’s this matter?

Chen Ming knew that the Torrent was equipped with AI and that the AI controlled the fighter ships.

But he always assumed that the spacecraft computer was outfitted with some sort of AI, never considering that it was directly using a lower-level AI Core to achieve this effect.

”But you haven’t explained why you are in this artificial Delta Level Core and serving as the AI for the core.”
