Elevator Survival: Master of Every Floor

Failure of salt productionAlthough the temperature inside the Elevator had warmed up a bit, Lin Feng couldn’t sleep after being tossed and turned like that.

Just then, his private chat box suddenly flashed.

Ye Hua: [Big Brother, are you there? The crossbow bolts you asked for last time are ready. Please inspect them.]

Lin Feng: [Hmm, you don’t need to make any more for me for now.]

On the other side, Ye Hua, who was halfway through typing, felt his heart sink when he saw the message from Lin Feng.

He had been wondering if Lin Feng had anything for warmth, but he never expected this Big Brother to stop trading with him.

What should he do now? The food from their last trade was already eaten.

Ye Hua: [Big Brother, we can still discuss the price...]

Lin Feng: [I don’t need crossbow bolts anymore.]

Ye Hua: [This... Alright, but I can make other things. See if there’s anything you need.]

Lin Feng: [If I need anything, I’ll ask you.]

Ye Hua: [Okay, Big Brother.]

Ye Hua sighed. Fortunately, the arrows he made were also bought by a few other people, so he wouldn’t starve.

After putting away the crossbow bolts, Lin Feng also closed the chat room.

”Ding! The floor the host is about to enter is the Raft Survival floor. On this floor, there is only one raft drifting in the sea. There is a wooden box on the raft. Opening it will grant one bottle of brandy, two gold coins, and a fishing rod.”

”Ding! A selection quest has been triggered. Please make your choice, host.”

”Option One: Enter the floor and kill the Great White Shark. Reward: Beginner Melee Combat.”

”Option Two: Stay in the Elevator and do not enter the floor. Reward: Stamina Boost.”

”I choose one.”

Lin Feng said decisively. Although the reward for Option Two also looked good, he could improve stamina through exercise, but he couldn’t learn combat skills on his own.

[Ding dong! The Elevator is descending. Please hold on tight.]

After Lin Feng opened the door, the salty sea breeze blew in. Although the weather was good, Lin Feng felt inexplicably annoyed looking at the endless ocean.

However, the mission was still the priority. After moving all the wooden boxes back into the Elevator, Lin Feng took out his shotgun and searched for the Great White Shark.

Buzz~

Soon, the Great White Shark, which had been lurking at the bottom of the sea, finally appeared, swaying back and forth underwater as if looking for an opportunity.

Bang!

Finally, the Great White Shark bit the raft, intending to shatter the fragile raft.

Lin Feng also unceremoniously fired a shot directly at the Great White Shark’s head.

The Great White Shark, hit by the shot, did not die immediately. Seeing this, Lin Feng fired two more shots, but because the Great White Shark had hidden underwater, these two shots had almost no penetrating power.

Soon, the area around the raft was stained red with blood. It wouldn’t be long before other marine predators were attracted.

And this severely wounded Great White Shark would probably be dismembered.

He just didn’t know if it would count as his kill then.

However, just as Lin Feng was worried about failing the mission, the Great White Shark, for some unknown reason, floated up again, and Lin Feng wouldn’t miss this good opportunity, firing several more shots at the Great White Shark.

Now it was completely dead, with no good spot left on its entire body.

Lin Feng also gave up on the idea of eating its meat. Not to mention all the bullets in its body, wasn’t shark meat something you couldn’t just eat casually?

It would also be very irrational to go down and retrieve it now. The surrounding area was full of fresh blood, which would probably attract other predators soon.

As Lin Feng guessed, the blood quickly attracted a group of sharks.

The Great White Shark’s corpse was quickly torn into pieces, scattered here and there.

”Roar!!”

The Little Velociraptor stood by Lin Feng’s leg, roaring loudly, likely feeling threatened by the sharks underwater.

Lin Feng had originally thought about taking some seawater back, but it seemed that wouldn’t work now.

”Ding! Congratulations, host, on completing the mission. Rewards have been issued.”

Instantly, a vast amount of combat knowledge flooded into Lin Feng’s mind.

Soon, Lin Feng received all the information.

Although his brain was a bit swollen and painful, he was still very happy. With his current strength, he wouldn’t say he could fight ten people at once.

But three to five ordinary thugs certainly wouldn’t be able to get close to him.

After the shark group outside finished eating the Great White Shark’s corpse, they all left, but the blood mist in the water still hadn’t dissipated.

After the sharks left, Lin Feng returned to the raft.

The Elevator would close in half an hour. In the remaining time, he had to find a way to get some seawater.

Then he would try to make salt. Otherwise, roasting meat without salt for a long time would make it quite unappetizing.

After waiting for a while, the bloodstains in the seawater finally slowly dissipated. Lin Feng took out his water bottle and directly filled 5 bottles of seawater, a full 5 liters. It should be enough to refine some salt.

He just didn’t know if the refined salt would be edible.

”Never mind, I’ll try it first.”

Back in the Elevator, Lin Feng placed the pot from the induction cooker on it, then poured in the seawater. Now he just had to wait for it to crystalize.

He hoped this plan would work.

Lin Feng prayed in his heart.

”Damn it, why does it feel cold again.”

Looking at the thin ice on the water, Lin Feng shivered.

He felt that the current temperature must have dropped below zero.

At this time, the person with the thermometer in the chat room also updated the latest temperature in real-time.

[Brothers, latest temperature. It’s -5℃ here now. I think I might have a fever. Does anyone have medicine!]

[Don’t say it, even if you have it, you can’t sell it. I think I must be sick too, either a cold or a fever.]

[I’m really fed up! I can’t even get enough to eat now, and the difficulty is already increasing?]

[I really envy you guys who upgraded to a Level 3 Elevator. You don’t have to worry about choking to death when making a fire. I just met a brother who died in his Elevator, and there was a fire next to him. He probably choked to death from the smoke.]

.......

Is it already below zero?

Lin Feng looked at the messages in the chat room and wasn’t too worried. He had an induction cooker that didn’t require energy for heating, so he didn’t have to fear freezing to death.

As long as the temperature didn’t drop too ridiculously.

At the current temperature, the induction cooker could still maintain it.

More than three hours later, the seawater in the pot finally reached the bottom, and some white dragon crystal appeared at the same time.

”This stuff... Can it really be eaten?”

Lin Feng said with some uncertainty. He remembered that seawater contained many impurities, and simple evaporation could not obtain edible salt.

But under the current conditions, Lin Feng couldn’t go any further.

How about... a taste?

Lin Feng thought as he looked at the dragon crystal in the pot.

After it was completely dry, Lin Feng reached into the bottom of the pot and scraped off a layer of dragon crystal.

Then he stuck out his tongue and licked it.

Immediately, Lin Feng’s taste buds seemed to have gone haywire.

”Damn it! What the *taste is this!!”

Lin Feng quickly took a sip of water to rinse his mouth.

How to describe it? Salty with bitterness, bitter with astringency, and for some reason, a hint of foot-washing water.
