High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 3000: Chapter 13: Wandering Bar Again?!

”——My secret recipe!”

”——The treasure my grandpa left behind!”

”——How dare you tear it up! Even if you’re a student from the First University!”

A sharp, explosive voice erupted from the Witch’s mouth as she tossed aside her wine glass— ”You’ll be charged extra for breaking it,” warned the Multi-arm Tribe Attendant behind the bar— seemingly aiming to grab the Little Witch’s collar.

Feeling scared, Zheng Susu leaned back and bumped into the Elder Wizard behind her.

Thud!

The Elder Wizard swiftly rolled off his high chair and began clutching his broken foot, wailing in pain: ”Oh! My foot! My foot is broken! Ahhh!”

”——No, it’s not like that! I didn’t mean to!”

The Little Witch, who had already caused two accidents, was completely flustered. She jumped off her high chair, shaking her hands vigorously, trying her best to prove to the onlookers: ”It was an accident, all just an accident!”

Then her flailing arms knocked over the Crystal Ball held by a third Wizard nearby.

Smash!

Crunch!

The crisp sound of the Crystal Ball shattering left the Great Elf completely dumbfounded.

”——Compensate for my Crystal Ball! I just bought this ’Blue Giant Eye’ from Green Grocery!” The owner of the Crystal Ball, a tall, skinny Witch with disheveled hair, reached out with claw-like skinny hands and grabbed the culprit’s shoulder, spitting saliva like raindrops onto the Great Elf.

”——Compensate for my alchemy secret recipe first! Martin Thor Company’s appraiser said it’s worth at least ten jade coins!” The first Witch was also unwilling to back down and grabbed the other side of the culprit’s shoulder.

”——Oh, oh, my foot!” The Elder Wizard rolling on the ground held onto the Great Elf’s robe hem, crying bitterly: ”I’m already old, the healer said I can’t take magic potions anymore... this kind of fracture requires at least three months in bed! Oh, oh!”

He moaned as he clearly articulated his plea, his speech fluent and unlike that of usual mumbling elders.

Not far from the bar, near the booths.

A somewhat short Black Robe Wizard watched the scene in astonishment.

”This, this is way too unlucky!” Her voice carried a bit of sentiment, while she curled her fingers and tapped on the wooden tabletop beside her, fearing that the bad luck might stick to her.

Her companion looked at the scene rather speechlessly.

”This has nothing to do with bad luck.”

He sighed deeply, uncertain whether feeling grateful or troubled: ”You should feel lucky that you didn’t come here alone today... and there’s an even dumber fat sheep foolishly taking the lead in front of you.”

Simplicity and stupidity aren’t the same thing.

The simple reminder from her companion immediately made the short Wizard realize.

”You mean, they’re all in on this together?” She pointed at the three Wizards who were dragging along a certain unlucky person, her tone showing a bit of shock: ”Is this what you just called crashing, scamming, or forced buying and selling?”

Evidently, she wasn’t quite sure what those folks were up to.

”——Not necessarily together, but there must be some private collusion.”

Her companion pulled her back slightly, lowering his voice even more: ”Watch... that poor child’s living expenses for several years are going to be lost... there should be intermediaries coming soon. Remember, whoever emerges as an ’intermediary’ at times like this, no matter how kind or considerate they seem, is just trying to extract more money from your pocket.”

Sure enough.

Almost right after he said that.

A shout came from the crowd.

”——Let go of that child!” A chubby Wizard rushed forward, slapped away the skinny claws of the Witch grasping the Great Elf’s shoulder, and said sternly: ”This is Buji Island! The First University’s Buji Island! Students of the First University are the masters of Buji Island! How can you be so disrespectful to the master?”

Then he looked at the red-eyed Great Elf, switched to another demeanor, and spoke kindly: ”Don’t be afraid, life inevitably has moments of extreme bad luck... this world always talks about reasoning, and they have suffered losses too, and are a bit eager, so don’t blame them for speaking harshly.”

”Oh...” The Elder Wizard lying on the ground continued to wail.

”Quiet!”

The Fat Wizard glared at him furiously, turned, and smiled at the Great Elf: ”——But no matter what, you broke someone else’s Crystal Ball, tore up someone else’s treasure, and knocked down an elderly...”

”I, I didn’t mean to——” The Great Elf sniffled, raised his hand, and wiped his eyes.

”——Yes, yes, everyone knows it was an accident, you didn’t mean it.” The Fat Wizard greedily eyed the white jade bead string hanging from the Little Witch’s wrist, his tone growing kinder: ”But, as they say, ’You kill, you pay with your life; you owe debts, you repay them’, you’ve damaged others’ treasures, you must compensate, right?”

The Multi-arm Tribe Attendant behind the bar was vigorously wiping a glass, and his cloth snapped loudly.

The onlookers huddled together, whispering, watching the commotion unfold.

”——I, I don’t have that much money.” The Great Elf sniffled, fumbled through his pockets, and pulled out a handful of gold beans, looking rather uncertain: ”I only have this much money on me.”

Sounds of sharp inhales and foot stomping came faintly from the crowd.

”——Not enough! My Crystal Ball was originally priced at twenty jade coins!” The tall, skinny Witch with disheveled hair waved the invoice in her hand and screamed excitedly.

”——The Big Wizard’s notes are certainly worth twenty jade coins, aren’t they?” The first Witch was also not willing to back down, raising the stakes again, completely disregarding that her previous price was ten jade coins.

”——Oh, oh, I earn five jade coins working each month.” The Elder Wizard hugged his foot, continuing to wail and roll on the ground, seemingly calling out prices like listing groceries: ”And I need to buy some health-improving magic potions, like dragon bone powder, Dragonblood Vine, Dragon Tooth Rice, tiger bone wine, Du Zhong, Huai Niu Xi, deer antler, deer velvet...”

”Stop arguing! Everyone stop arguing!”

The Fat Wizard wiped his sweaty forehead and loudly stopped them: ”Compensation will be given! Would a student from the First University cheat you out of what they owe? Even if she doesn’t have money now, she can take a loan and she will pay you! Fellow student, let me tell you, I specialize in financial services...”

Crack!

An extremely faint yet exceptionally clear ripple of magic power blossomed.

It vanished, completely without a trace, shortly thereafter.

The angry Witch, wailing Elder Wizard, the Fat Wizard acting as the mediator, and the other Wizards watching the show all stopped their performances in unison and turned to look at the trembling Great Elf.

”What did you do?” The Fat Wizard forced a smile.

”I, I don’t have money... so I called my family to pay.” Zheng Susu replied, tearfully and sniffling, her mind filled with the tragic possibility of being grounded for the next month.

But even if grounded, the debt must be paid!

How could a student from the First University disgrace the school?

”Why, why did you call your family?”

Sitting on the ground, the Elder Wizard stopped wailing, scrambled up, standing on one leg, rather frustrated: ”Even if you don’t have jade coins, don’t you have some gemstones, dragon bone powder, or the like stored up?”

”Oh... those? I do have those!” The Great Elf, with a seemingly later realization, appeared to have an epiphany: ”But, can those things also pay off debts?”

The onlookers nearly all felt like coughing up blood at the same time.

Sometimes encountering a too innocent ”fat sheep” seems not to be a good thing either.

Just as the Black Wizards hesitated about whether to continue today’s business, a somewhat surprised voice of a Witch suddenly resounded in the hall:

”——Hey, why is it the Wandering Bar again?”

Behind the bar, the Multi-arm Tribe Attendant dashed into the cupboard underneath the bar, an iron cabinet, upon hearing this voice, and sent a Paper Crane to the Wandering Wizard——

”Boss, the one who demolishes the shop has come again... This time during the renovation, I hope you add a chair behind the bar, so I can sit and rest when I’m tired.”
