High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2987: Chapter 31: Yellow Flowered Cat (Part 2)

”Nikita’s escape has nothing to do with those crows.”

The principal of Jiuyou Academy didn’t entertain Yellow Flowered Cat’s roundabout remarks, directly pointed out: ”-- You should know the reason why...”

”It’s because of her teacher!”

Flower Cat slowly moved down from the window sill, sat on the desk, its tail wrapped around its front paws, looking solemn: ”I saw very clearly, that little girl cut open her teacher’s belly and struggled to survive again... The teacher is still that teacher, the one who can let his students survive.”

Professor Yao looked at the shameless cat in front of him, speechlessly fished out a pipe, didn’t put tobacco in the pipe bowl, just clicked it twice emptily.

After a while, he spoke muffledly: ”--Last time when Thomas kidnapped him, he took some flesh from him, this matter is recorded in the school’s relevant files.”

The professor didn’t specify who ’him’ was in his words.

But Flower Cat understood very well.

”So?”

”So, when will he come back?” Old Yao finally stopped beating around the bush, very clearly asked: ”On a smaller scale, whether Thomas or Nikita, their causes and effects are deeply entangled with him, according to our usual handling rules, cases like this are most likely handed to the person with strong connection to resolve. On a larger scale, he took away the Giant God Soldier from Edge Academy...”

”Didn’t he leave one for you?”

Yellow Flowered Cat was instantly a bit displeased: ”Montelio is now on duty twenty-four hours a day, which legend can be more dedicated than him? At Edge Academy’s current state of only a few cats, do they really need two legendary level Giant God Soldiers to guard them? Besides, Old Rat Head’s situation should be stable by now, right? Given his relationship with Korma’s little girl, and the position of his two dependents, having him look after Edge Academy is very reasonable, right?”

”The Rat Immortal’s business is the Rat Immortal’s business, the Giant God Soldier’s business is the Giant God Soldier’s business, they cannot be mixed.”

The principal of Jiuyou Academy insisted: ”Whether the school needs it or not, Taiyi belongs to the edge... There’s no doubt about that. Letting him wander outside, the ones losing sleep at night aren’t you, but us! You should know how dangerous it is outside now...”

Yellow Flowered Cat tugged at its ear.

”Sorry,” it politely interrupted the professor, brushed its whiskers: ”Let me correct you a bit, I rarely sleep at night... because I sleep during the day.”

”Are we discussing when to sleep now?” Old Yao finally got a bit irritable, although he knew this cat was hard to deal with, he didn’t realize it was this troublesome—after all, with the gentleman presiding before, Flower Cat’s slight neuroticism was just laughed off by everyone, but now having to negotiate certain matters with this cat, everyone felt it was quite a headache.

”I feel like you’re thinking of some very disrespectful things.”

Yellow Flowered Cat squinted its eyes, glared at the principal with ill intent, warned: ”Don’t think that just because the Old Rat Head is out of the picture now, I’m easy to bully... I’m a legend now too! Well, to be precise, ’again’! I’m a legend again now!”

It’s not much of a secret.

Professor Yao took a gentle breath.

If this cat was still at the level of Big Wizard, he wouldn’t visit courteously today, but grab its nape and drag it to the office for questioning.

”So, when exactly is he coming back?”

Professor Yao exhaled the breath he just took: ”There’s an old saying, that if you have to swallow a slug, you better not stare at it too long... Both Edge Academy and relevant departments are waiting for him... I hope you can convey the school’s attitude, let him not feel daunted. Many things are difficult to start, but once started, they aren’t hard.”

”If it were me, no matter difficult or not, I wouldn’t eat a slug.” Yellow Flowered Cat muttered, shaking its head slightly: ”Besides, why do you think he’s daunted?”

”Hmm? Then why is he avoiding us?”

”Why do you think he’s avoiding you?”

Yellow Flowered Cat retorted, lifting its tail, strolling leisurely along the edge of the desk: ”You’re legendary now too, you should know, defining someone or something before making a judgment isn’t wise. Because your definition—or what could be called ’label’—will influence your judgment and decision-making. In the eyes of a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

For example crows, when you perceive them as a Black Wizard Group, everything they do is illegal and needs striking; when you perceive them as a small group of radical wizards in a minor gathering, any choice they make is up for discussion.”

Old Yao patiently listened to these trivial talks.

Didn’t let Flower Cat steer him into other topics.

”So, he’s not avoiding us?” He frowned, habitually put the empty pipe back in his mouth, clicked twice.

”He’s very busy... Old Rat Head left him a lot of homework, so busy every day that he doesn’t even have time to sleep, where does he have the energy to play hide and seek with you?”

”He can apply for support from the school, can’t he? Why didn’t you tell us earlier?”

”Why?”

Yellow Flowered Cat rolled its eyes, boldly patted its chest: ”--To make him an impeccable heir, he must do some things himself, must have a predecessor taking the heat for him. I probably serve that role—that’s why, who would really blame a cat, right?”

Old Yao finally realized his pipe was empty.

With some irritation, he stuffed the pipe bowl full of tobacco, lit it, took a deep drag.

--Phuh--

”...So when can he come back?” He persistently repeated this question for the third time.

Flower Cat just as stubbornly continued with Tai Chi: ”--Old Rat Head said once, when looking at a problem, don’t rush to make a judgment, because many things are in the process of developing and changing, perhaps at the moment of your judgment, it’s right at the instant of quantitative change turning into qualitative change, so let’s wait and see, using hunting strategic terms, it’s ’slow advance but quick attack’... Applying this thought now fits perfectly. Perhaps he’ll knock on the bookstore’s door and come back the next second, who knows?”

The words barely finished.

Crack.

A subtle, crisp sound suddenly echoed in the bookstore.

The two legends simultaneously looked up, followed the sound, easily found the source of the sound--a few steps away on a bookshelf, a small transparent sphere like glass had a long thin crack on its side.

A ray of green light seeped through the crack, shadowy and indistinct, hard to see clearly.
