High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 3001: Chapter 14: Upstairs in the Attic

”——Sister Meng, is it really okay for Shanshan to go there alone? I heard that place is the most evil part of Buji Island, and there might be Black Wizards lurking around!”

In the attic on the second floor of D&K, Zheng Suyi anxiously asked her tutoring teacher Li Meng, while her sister leaned by the window looking out, seemingly wanting to see the scene inside the Wandering Bar through the small, heavy glass.

”Remove the words ’might be’! There are definitely Black Wizards in the Wandering Bar!”

Li Meng patiently brushed Poseidon’s tail fur without looking up, and answered, ”——But why should we be afraid? This is Buji Island, not the Land of Desolation! The old man at the Wandering Bar is at least a Big Wizard. Knowing our Shanshan is coming, how could he not be careful? How could he let those Black Wizards near her!”

”Right, don’t be afraid! Mama will beat them!” The child in Li Meng’s arms raised her little arm with great fervor.

Poseidon is already four years old this year.

In the Wizard World, the nobler the Moonlight Nobles’ bloodline, the harder it is to transform. According to Su Shijun’s predictions, Poseidon’s transformation would still take many years——especially since she is a Big Wizard——but in reality, this little one has shed most of her baby fur before turning three and has become a sweet little witch.

However, due to her young age, her transformation was not complete, still retaining fox tail and ears, and a layer of soft short fur on her cheeks and neck.

This made Su Shijun quite worried.

She feared that due to her special background, Dong Dong might have some hidden illness.

In response to Su Shijun’s concern, the Qingqiu Ancestor simply reminded her that the little girl transformed early probably because her ’noble’ maternal bloodline was suppressed by the paternal bloodline, thus triggering an early transformation.

”He is just an ordinary Human Clan member, where is the noble bloodline?” Having lived in Yunhua Residential Complex for a while, Su Daxu felt quite speechless and somewhat inexplicably irritated.

Like when she was a child, the Ancestor pinched her face with a smile, ”Don’t be naive; for a wizard, true noble bloodline is a matter of rank... Though the legends from non-traditional paths may not be appreciated by those true legends, they can still transcend Destiny’s long river, and it’s not difficult to give some blessings to their descendants.”

She seemed to have remembered something here, and poked Su Daxu’s chest with some anger, ”——You have the best looks and the smartest mind, yet you can’t catch that ordinary young man you mentioned! Let him slip through your fingers without a trace! If you were his official Dao companion now, not to mention little things like Dong Dong’s transformation, your true body might even be able to solidify quite a bit!”

Poseidon naturally did not know about the discussions behind her elders at home.

All she knew was that since she shed her fur, the homework she needed to complete daily increased significantly, including not just magical assignments but also many tedious noble etiquettes.

So, whenever she had the chance, she would use ’consolidating knowledge’ as an excuse to sneak out of Greenhill Mansion with the three sisters attending tutoring to enjoy some fleeting freedom.

Just like today.

”——Tail! Your tail is sticking up again!”

Theoretically, Li Meng had grown into a young lady, but she looked almost the same as a few years ago, just taller. Seeing the furry big tail almost touch her nose, she quickly pushed it down, ”Don’t let Sister Su Man see your tail sticking up, or she will definitely add more etiquette classes for you!”

Upon hearing the word ’etiquette class,’ Poseidon’s young face wrinkled up, and her tail drooped down with a plop, grumbling, ”I don’t want to...”

”——Be good, don’t be afraid!”

Li Meng comfortingly rubbed her head, ”Don’t stick your tail up in the Mansion, and they won’t know... Like today, Shanshan sneaking to the Wandering Bar is also unbeknownst to anyone...”

”What do you mean by ’unbeknownst to anyone’?”

A slightly cool voice suddenly sounded in Li Meng’s ear. Startled, she turned around hastily, only to see Jiang Yu walk in expressionlessly as the attic door opened, followed by seven or eight Atoning Hunters, including Xiao Xiao and Lin Guo.

Seeing Li Meng looking like she had seen a ghost.

Xiao Xiao shrugged quietly, indicating helplessness.

”Oh! Cousin! Why... why are you here?!” Li Meng tried to muster a look of surprise, hugging Poseidon, ready to shove her into Jiang Yu’s arms, ”Quick, Dong Dong, call Mama! Mama has come to see you!”

She was no longer the trouble-stirring Li Meng from two years ago.

She knew what her cousin cared about the most.

Poseidon also knew this was a critical moment, she internally apologized, ’Mama sorry,’ and immediately perked up her ears, swaying her fluffy big tail with a swoosh, sweetly called out, ”——Yu Mama, I missed you!”

The Atoning Hunters at the door tried hard to maintain serious expressions, looking at their noses, noses at hearts.

Jiang Yu’s tense expression finally relaxed a bit.

”You have gotten thinner.”

She muttered, turning her head to look at the two Great Elves standing properly beside her, ”——Zhongshan Mansion is closer to school, if it’s inconvenient to eat at Qingqiu, you can stay in Zhongshan at night... Where is Shanshan?”

Jiang Yu clearly noticed one of the three Great Elves was missing.

Li Meng’s heart secretly panicked, pushing herself to keep a straight face, ”——Shanshan? Haha, she hasn’t completed her homework after class, so she was kept back by the teacher... Yi Yi and Shuang Shuang came to me for tutoring in Magic Potion studies. Dong Dong? Dong Dong is also here for Magic Potion tutoring; she read some books by Slague Morgan and has new ideas about the Lu Er De Holy Water... Cousin, why are you here?”

Waiting passively for Jiang Yu to continue asking questions would definitely reveal their secrets.

The best defense is offense.

Sure enough, Jiang Yu naturally got led off track by Li Meng’s words, ”Why can’t we come? This attic is the meeting room for Atonement, not your study room... Of course, when we’re not around, you can study here if you’d like.”

She rubbed Poseidon’s head. Poseidon continued to work hard at wagging her tail——a pleasing skill she learned from Furry Bean, proving to be very effective.

If everything continued this way, Li Meng stood a great chance of muddling through today.

Yet, the unexpected descended at this unguarded moment.

Snap!

Snap!

In the not very large meeting room, the two clear breaking sounds immediately drew everyone’s attention. While Li Meng was still dazed, Jiang Yu’s gaze had already fallen on the wrists of Zheng Suyi and Zheng Sushuang.

The two Great Elves were shocked, raising their heads hurriedly; on each of their wrists, a Jade Bead had suddenly shattered.

”Where exactly is Shanshan?” Xiao Xiao stepped forward, slightly increasing his tone. As a Diviner, he realized faster than everyone else what had happened.

Jiang Yu’s face turned pale, and she looked at Li Meng.

Li Meng was so scared she couldn’t breathe.

”——W-Wandering Bar!” Zheng Suyi, after all, was the eldest, pointed to the bar across diagonally downstairs, stuttering, ”Shanshan said she wanted to go in and take a look...”

”Nonsense!”

Jiang Yu quietly sighed with relief, stuffed the little girl in her arms back into Li Meng’s arms, and angrily scolded, ”——Take care of her! We’ll settle accounts later! Leave two here to watch over them! Everyone else, come with me to fetch her from the Wandering Bar!”
