Chapter 2993: Chapter 6: Invisible Armor

”——Sorry, I am late.”

Zheng Qing stood at the entrance of Solomon Hall, and slightly bowed in the direction of the podium: ”The grandeur and magnificence of Danghag exceeded my imagination, making me feel lost in the Book Mountain Library of First University.”

As expected.

This greeting did not receive a warm reaction.

Behind the tiered long tables and benches, the row upon row of dark silhouettes simultaneously turned sideways, looking towards the doorway. Quiet and silent. Their faces were hidden under wide hoods or tall pointed wizard hats, interwoven in the flickering flames of the Ancient Gublai Fairy Fire, making it hard to see clearly.

But there is one thing Zheng Qing could confirm.

In this hearing involving Edge Academy, there were very few attendees who could represent the edge communities—Korma counted as one, Rat Immortal counted as half, and no other representatives. There were some Great Wizard-level elders from the giants, fishmen, or the Centaur Clan, but it was unlikely that Danghag would risk plunging the headquarters into chaos by inviting these ’highly wild’ great wizards to a meeting where they had little voice.

In contrast, many noble wizards, who had a hostile attitude towards edge communities, came.

It was really quite ironic.

The heavy wooden door behind the young wizard closed slowly, and a gold-red striped ribbon sprang from the darkness, crossed through the closed door, intersected, and simply intertwined for a moment. A drop of thick, crimson wax squeezed out from the void, slowly dripping at the crossing point of the ribbon, sealing it completely—this meant that no one could leave this room until the hearing ended.

”That’s outrageous!”

Below the podium, an old wizard whose eyebrows and beard were almost tangled together stood tremblingly, stomping a wooden staff much taller than himself, angrily rebuking the tardy young wizard: ”——You are making so many elders wait here is wasting everyone’s time! If you want to become the dean of First University, you should lead by example, and take on the responsibility you should bear!”

Is someone trying to make me resign before I even take office?

Zheng Qing blinked.

Another slightly younger great wizard stood up, equally indignant: ”——This is disrespectful to all the great wizards and legends attending the hearing! It is disrespectful to all the committee members of the special committee! It is disrespectful to Danghag!”

Fortunately, this isn’t a court, otherwise, they’d surely charge me with contempt of court.

Zheng Qing pondered secretly, his gaze shifting to the podium.

The expressions on the legendary figures on the podium varied.

The legendaries sitting on the left side of Lady Shi Hui had indifferent expressions, as if they hadn’t heard the complaints from the few great wizards below the stage; those on the right of Lady Shi Hui either nodded slightly or frowned at the young warlock at the door, either curiously or shaking their heads, clearly showing inconsistent attitudes.

Inconsistency is a good thing.

Zheng Qing thought calmly, casually scratching the chin of the flower cat in his arms.

The Yellow Flowered Cat snorted, lazily moved its ears, very reluctantly lifted its eyelids, glanced at the two great wizards who stood up, and muttered: ”——Noisy!”

Boom! ℴℴ𝘮

The pressure belonging to the legends was precisely and measuredly applied to those two great wizards.

Thud!

Thud!

The middle-aged great wizard, overwhelmed by the legendary aura, sat back into his original seat, trembling all over, cold sweat streaming. As for the old wizard, although he looked shaky, he persisted longer, trembling for a whole half second before collapsing with a pale face, wheezing, looking as if he was having a heart attack.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

”Silence!”

On the podium, Lady Shi Hui picked up the small gavel in front of her and knocked it, then gave a reproachful glance at the young man, seeming to think his method was too simple and brutal: ”——The hearing is about to start, everyone maintain silence! Zheng Qing, sit down!”

With the sound of the gavel, the middle-aged wizard and old wizard finally took a breath, as if coming back to life. However, their gazes towards the cat in Zheng Qing’s arms were inevitably filled with some horror and fear.

Zheng Qing paid no heed to the eyes of others.

Instead, he looked at his seat.

It was a long table situated between the podium and the monitoring listener seats. There was no agent’s position on either side, and behind the long table was only a solitary chair.

Tap, tap, tap.

The young wizard walked steadily towards his seat, with each step, his aura intensified. This aura was unrelated to him but originated from the flower cat in his arms, the green snake hanging on his ear, the law book at his waist, and the two rings on his hand.

The ring on the left hand bore the character ’Yuan’.

The ring on the right hand bore the character ’Tai’.

These five highly ranked auras surrounded the warlock, as if encasing him in a thick armor, making the originally spacious and dim Solomon Hall seem unable to accommodate this armor. The tall dome creaked under pressure, the rough and cold walls groaned in pain, while the stone pillars embedded in the walls remained silent as usual; however, the heads of the Bi’an on the pillar heads without exception exhibited painful expressions, and several Bi’ans even had suspicious dark red fluid flowing from their necks.

The monitoring and listening seats showed no more activity.

All the great wizards held their breath, their bodies involuntarily shrinking into their seats, as if thus they could make more room to accommodate the invisible armor on the young wizard.

On the podium.

Thirteen legendary wizards did not stop the young wizard’s actions, showing extraordinary patience. Besides Old Yao glancing at the two rings, Elder Ruoyu cared more about the little green snake hanging on Zheng Qing’s ear, while most others focused their attention on the law book at Zheng’s waist.

Half of them who had signed the law book tried to capture their connection with it.

The other un-signatory legends looked at the law book with vigilance.

Zheng Qing sat steadily on the solitary chair.

The chair had no armrest.

So the flower cat could only lie on his lap.

The young wizard took the law book hanging from his waist and placed it on the table before him. Without waiting for the host on the podium to speak, he proactively pressed his hand against it.

Lady Shi Hui frowned.

In theory, the person being questioned should swear an oath on the Wizard’s Codex, but due to well-known reasons, the authority of the law book was not much weaker than that of the Code.

After a few seconds of silence, she nodded slightly, approving the young man’s choice:

”——Then, swear.”

She emphatically knocked the wooden gavel in her hand.

Thump!
