High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2982: Chapter 26: The True Punishment

”——Eek, are all the wild demons outside like this?”

Peter Greenspan looked speechlessly at the wild wolf demon in the trap, twitching its lower body while frantically attacking a little white rabbit. He tried to express his disgust through his demeanor, yet a subtle curiosity could still be heard in his tone.

The reason for this contradiction.

Is because another witch stood by the trap, also the assistant captain of this graduation practice task, senior assistant coach of the support team, Violet Jessop—because of her strikingly noticeable purple hair, her codename in the hunting team is Azur.

As for Peter, he’s still using his codename from the ’Queen of Hearts Q’, Insect Tail.

Violet wasn’t surprised by the curiosity of the little warlock. When she joined this hunting team, she thoroughly researched the information of each team member. The young man beside her, from a famous wizard world financial dynasty family, had little knowledge about real wild demons, which was quite normal. The Greenspan family from Sam’s Pass was never known for producing high-quality hunters; they prefer cultivating wizards who manipulate abacuses and ledgers.

”Demons often possess stronger desires than ordinary creatures, in all aspects, you should know that. The demons in the school’s hunting ground are mostly ’castrated’, they don’t have such strong wildness.”

Violet held a notepad, scribbling and drawing on it, sparing a glance at the still dazed young hunter: ”——Do you need help collecting its teeth or mane?”

This question immediately startled the warlock.

”No, no need, thank you.”

He fumbled and pulled out a toolbox, flipped open the law book, first rewarded the wolf demon with a soft leg curse, then used a binding spell to hoist it from the trap and began to dissect it clumsily.

Violet secretly shook her head slightly, at a name under her notepad marking a score, changing the seven she originally wrote to a six.

While adjusting, she did not forget her assistant duty: ”——Appetite and desire are the most easily triggered and strongest among all desires. In the wild, when you see a wild creature and aren’t sure if it is a demon, observing its actions is the simplest and direct way. Their instinct imprints are so deep, just like wild dogs like to sniff each other’s behinds, real demons will have instinctive urges towards any opposite sex... so if you see a male monkey doing indescribable things to a female lizard, throwing a few curses at it will never be wrong.”

”What if it’s wrong?”

”A monkey doing it to a lizard, even if you hit it with a thunder curse, where could it go wrong?”

The witch’s slightly coarse language made the boy warlock a bit uncomfortable, causing him to pause the tweezers and silver knife in his hand, contemplating saying something when afar, a bright firework burst into the sky, along with a trace of barely discernible magic power fluctuation in the air.

Both hunters simultaneously detected the fluctuation, raised their heads in unison, looking towards the direction indicated by the fireworks.

Peter was momentarily stunned, dropped the knife and tweezers in his hand, jumped up, was about to wrap an armor horse talisman on his leg when a delicate hand reached from the side, grabbing his collar.

”Don’t move around, I’ll take you there!” Violet’s voice was solemn, her speech was fast: ”...armor horse talisman speed is too slow, by the time you get there, yellow flowers would have cooled!”

The warlock obediently curled up, not feeling awkward at all being carried by a witch.

The breeze slowly drifted, the earth spun.

He instinctively felt his vision blur, after landing again, he already arrived in a forest clearing. Violet stood in front of him, Joan and Ani Black—graduation practice hunting team’s wandering hunter and hunter—stood at two other diagonal directions, together with Violet, locking several ’energy spots’ on this clearing.

And their leader, also the team’s mentor teacher, stood with his back to him, at the center of the clearing.

The teacher wore a red robe.

The opposite was a red robe too.

Just, the teacher’s robe was dark red, while the opposite was blood red.

Peter, being the support hunter, specializing in curses and magic potions, after simply confirming the scene’s general situation, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief—thankfully, the situation wasn’t too bad—as his thoughts turned quickly, he already swiftly took out a row of bottles from his pocket, smoothly preparing various magic potions for dispelling demonic energy, replenishing magic power, and stabilizing mental state.

To align with the teacher’s actions, the witch ahead adjusted her position.

Peter’s field of view suddenly became a bit wider.

He lifted his eyelids slightly, noticed a certain figure on the opposite side out of the corner of his eye, and his hand involuntarily jolted, subconsciously shouted: ”Teacher Zhu?”

Dream Interpretation course teacher Zhu Si, a teacher who sometimes transforms into a little witch in class, Peter, who once took her course, had a deeply impressed impression of her.

This exclamation slightly broke the heavy atmosphere on the field.

A witch in a blood robe, clearly realized that the little boy who was hiding behind the purple-haired witch, was calling herself.

She stretched her head out, blinked, showing a suitable look of confusion: ”——Are you calling me? But I don’t remember being your teacher!”

”She’s not Zhu Si, she’s a faceless demon.”

Violet cautioned quietly, her gaze fell on the black bracelet on the fair wrist under the blood robe, gently taking a breath: ”——Now it’s troublesome.”

No further explanation was needed, Peter quickly perceived the differences between the opposite witch and Teacher Zhu Si. For instance, her makeup was more exquisite, like a porcelain doll, unlike Teacher Zhu’s awful makeup skills; furthermore, there wasn’t that cinnabar mark on her forehead.

Silently breathing a sigh of relief, Peter’s attention shifted to the blood robe on the opposite.

Then he understood why the purple-haired witch said ’troublesome’—it’s Nikita, an A-level wanted demon on the wanted list, who has repeatedly escaped the school and alliance’s hunts, infiltrated First University several times to cause havoc.

One must know, years ago, she was just a negligible C-level wanted criminal, yet within just a few years, her ’value’ soared as expected to be a dangerously perilous individual.

”——Teacher Zhou, long time no see.”

The female demon’s voice was hoarse yet full of magnetism, completely different from the shrillness Peter imagined: ”I heard because of me, you were imprisoned in the Black Prison by the school and sentenced to life? I’m truly sorry...I didn’t expect things to turn out like this.”

Teacher Zhou was once sent to Black Prison?

And sentenced to life imprisonment?

Peter licked his dry lips, only feeling his brain overloaded today.

”I didn’t expect things to turn out like this either.”

The dark red robe slightly lifted under the stirring magic power, Teacher Zhou’s voice as gentle as usual, yet, for some reason, carried a rich vein of sadness: ”When the school granted me special pardon, I thought it was just the blessing of the new academy’s establishment; when the school let me be the team teacher, I thought it was to allow me to make use of residual warmth...until I saw you, only then did I realize, the school’s punishment hasn’t ended...or rather, this is the school’s true punishment for me.”
