High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1690: Chapter 434 A Moment of Pause

When Zheng Qing pulled the trigger atop the inner castle wall, repelling that massive hand.

He didn’t notice that the entire Black Prison Castle battlefield — more precisely, the high-level wizards’ battlefield — experienced a brief pause because of that shot.

The pause lasted only a moment, or even less, just an instant.

Of course, this pause wasn’t due to some great presence using time magic, nor did Zheng Qing’s shot disrupt the time dimension of the Black Prison battlefield. In that split second, all beings whose tier reached the Great Wizard Level experienced a moment of ’distraction,’ coincidentally placing a thought on the inner castle wall.

As the saying goes, ’Being in a room with orchids for a long time without smelling their fragrance; being in a fish market for long without sensing its stench,’ Zheng Qing had grown accustomed to using Blood Symbol Bullets to resolve all significant troubles he encountered, naturally ignoring the source of this power, assuming that others would be as used to it as he was.

The Blood Symbol Bullet was powerful because it was tainted with a trace of forbidden spell aura.

In the darkened, blood-soaked battlefield of Black Prison Castle, powerful wizards unleashed spells of immense power, magical fluctuations surged fiercely across the sky, shaking the soul of every participant in the battle. Even so, that trace of forbidden spell aura remained like a beacon in the night, capturing everyone’s attention.

”Hey, hey, this strand of somewhat unfair power,”

Eris’s raised forelimb trembled slightly, causing several strands of spider silk clutched in her claws to snap due to uneven force. Simultaneously, she anxiously glanced around: ”Is this considered a warning... It feels like the First University is somewhat embarrassed and furious.”

”When they can’t win, they flip the table; hypocrites are so shameless.” Shallow Jin Ryoko attached to an Abomination grabbed a chunk of flesh cut off from Leviathan’s tentacles, munching it voraciously while coldly laughing.

”Forbidden curse?” The Great Wizard Demon Sujade silently looked towards the barely visible walls in the distance, pondering: ”I wonder if the Mist has a response plan... This isn’t a joke.”

A little closer, in the battlefield outside the outer castle.

The Duke Ulrich stood atop a skull-laden podium, spreading his arms wide, laughing wildly, his manic aura permeating most of the battlefield: ”Yes! Yes! Yes! This is how it should be!! On a battlefield involving legend, how can it lack the power of forbidden curses!!”

The prisoners and demons in Black Prison Camps have every reason to believe the school would resort to any means necessary for victory.

Even if it meant using forbidden curses to destroy a world.

However, as their opponents, also present on the battlefield, belonging to the First University, the Great Wizards were just as shocked by that aura from above the inner castle.

”Did the Divination Group ever mention using the forbidden curse option?” The Green Little Sword vibrated ceaselessly, hovering in midair, inquiring of its teammates.

A few demons rushing forward, howling, were shredded to bits by the gale the Green Little Sword whipped up.

The Scorpion wielded massive pincers, defending against the swooping attack of the flesh-eating bird demon Dororo from above while taking a sudden stab at Chizheng nearby with its scorpion tail, complaining with spare strength: ”No idea... Catching schemers often don’t care about the fate of their pawns... There’s a whole lot of this going on, get used to it, don’t be afraid!”

The elegant robe’s hem billowed, delivering a gentle female voice correcting: ”That’s Mister Zhuge.”

”Catching schemers!” The Scorpion grumpily repeated its own term.

Not far from the Great Wizards.

In the Moon Council controlled battlefield.

Su Shi Jun grasped the reality behind that thread of forbidden curse aura more clearly than the others, and thus she spent slightly longer in stupefaction than the others.

”Zheng... Qing?” She frowned slightly, mind racing with one speculation after another, yet unable to grasp at any: ”How did you manage to get into the inner castle?”

Then, a trace of annoyance crossed the witch’s face: ”Blatantly appearing on the battlefield, not knowing to restrain yourself... Do you intend to make Poseidon an orphan?!”

Milton Karen and William Tapott, two Upper House members, had quietly descended from the tower, under the guise of guarding Su Daxu, hovering nearby. Though they were not yet Great Wizards themselves, they were seasoned. Especially Milton, who had once set his sights on Zheng Qing, so when that forbidden spell aura arrived, Mister Vampire silently sidled up next to Mister Wolfman.

”The biggest obstacle between you and Miss Su is right there,” Milton whispered enticingly in Mister Wolfman’s ear, holding a large demon head: ”Catch him, tear him apart, and not only will you get closer to Miss Su, but there’s also a chance to gain rewards from the council.”

The council he referred to was the Moon Council.

The rewards he spoke of were for seizing an opportunity for a forbidden curse for the council.

William Tapott raised his arm to wipe sweat from his forehead, accidentally leaving clear traces of blood across his cheek. Hearing the relentless enticement, the Wolfman glanced at him, pulled at his mouth, revealing several sharp teeth.

”I’m just a bad-tempered man, unlike you idiots.” William withdrew his gaze, striving to suppress the urge to tear Milton apart from within, gruffly retorting: ”...You’re not even a Great Wizard, where do you get the courage to touch First University’s taboo.”

Milton took a deep breath, loosening his grip on the large demon head, shattering it.

Bang!

Fist met tentacle, creating a loud sound. Riding the surging magical fluctuations, Professor Yao retreated a step, giving way to the next salvo of attacks from the giant eye in midair. Meanwhile, the central expressionless face frowned, gazing towards the close-by inner castle wall.

Then he immediately spotted a familiar figure.

”Zheng Qing?” The principal of Jiuyou Academy suddenly felt his three skulls simultaneously aching: ”This brat... he’s everywhere!”

”Is that the ’troublemaker’ scholarship student from your academy?” The principal of Starry Sky Academy landed beside the giant ape with three-headed and eight-armed, nonchalantly patting one of its arms: ”He certainly seems like a man who invites trouble... If you find him difficult, you could toss him to our academy.”

Whoosh!

White mist shrouding the air mingled together, forming half of the Mist Captain’s figure, silently gazing at the inner castle wall, but focusing on the Black Cat: ”...Why does that cat give me a more dangerous feeling.”

Moreover.

The Mist Captain’s gaze shifted from the Black Cat back to the young warlock: ”Is he the student Nikita referred to? As expected... truly... that is a fruit full of temptation.”

”It feels like I’ve uncovered an incredible secret.”
