High School of Demon Hunting

”Of course, we have deduced what will happen after the Sun rises.”

An old wizard with a long beard stood behind the two vice principals, wearing a white robe adorned with various badges that glistened under the sunlight.

The young registered wizards of the First University might find this old wizard somewhat unfamiliar, but if the hunters from the New World were present, they would surely recognize this man known as the ’Xianqin Brain’—of course, currently, the brain of the Xianqin Hunting Group serves as the deputy head of the Black Prison Divination Group, responsible for coordinating various divination tasks.

At this moment, the old wizard was standing with his hands open, looking helpless:

”As you know, the Phoenix Plan was approved after a review by the Professor Joint Meeting... it’s just that a small variable was ’added’ during execution.”

The so-called ’added’ means this variable was not within the scope of the wizards’ predictions.

After all, no one expected the demons to capture an actual Sun and hand it over to Ziz, known as the Bird of Natural Disaster. This is akin to the Mage Alliance sealing a forbidden curse and giving it to the Moon Council—a slight mistake could bring backlash, which wise men avoid.

Nevertheless, considering many demons had already had their brains corroded by demonic energy, making such seemingly irrational choices seemed less surprising.

”The school has no intention to blame you, Master Li.”

Vice Principal Shi Hui stood on the city wall with arms crossed, looking at the blood-red battlefield that had spread beneath the inner castle wall, his cloak flapping in the cold wind, with a voice that appeared very calm:

”We just want to confirm if the Divination Group has any emergency plans.”

”Naturally, we do.”

The old wizard stroked his beard without any hesitation, speaking rapidly:

”When Master Fang first served as a researcher at the school’s traditional magic tool research institute, he wrote several papers on the impact of multidimensional stars on the bubble universe, so after the two Suns rose, he already gathered diviners to start calculating subsequent effects... As for Master Jiang, the entire Black Prison Castle’s defense system was completed with his assistance, whether it’s the Earth Dragon’s movements, those newly formed earthly veins, or the magic pulses caused by changes in heaven and earth, he can handle them all.”

The Master Fang and Master Jiang mentioned by the elder are both deputy heads of the Black Prison Divination Group. However, Master Fang is the great diviner of the Holy Tang Hunting Group, while Master Jiang is the deputy head of the God Zhou Hunting Group.

Upon hearing this, Shi Hui glanced back at this old wizard known as ’Master Li’, just about to speak, when the old wizard seemed to guess what she intended to ask and immediately added:

”As for Mr. Zhuge, he is still handling the follow-up affairs related to the timeline operation plan, and it’s inconvenient for him to meddle with the internal changes of the Black Prison for the time being... If he were to take action, the cause-and-effect array locking the Black Prison World might likely have gaps.”

Mr. Zhuge is the head of the Black Prison Divination Group, currently outside the Black Prison, organizing and consolidating the timeline to ensure the relative independence of the entire Black Prison World, preventing interference from external causes and effects.

The witch contemplated for a few seconds, nodded, and still said, ”I am not worried about Mr. Zhuge. I just want to remind you that the traditional magic tool research institute has been abolished for more than fifty years, and its current name is ’First University Institute of Applied Magic’.”

The old wizard rubbed his fingers through his beard, blinked, and showed an embarrassed smile on his face.

Howl!!

Bark Bark Bark!!

Clear howls, sounding like wolves or dogs, came from the sky, interrupting the conversation of several big figures on the city walls. The two vice principals and the deputy head of the Divination Group looked up towards the sky simultaneously.

They saw that a ferocious wolf head, transformed at some point from the lingering darkness between the two Suns, was opening its mouth, biting towards Professor Emma, who had transformed into a fire phoenix.

The fire phoenix shrieked sharply, arched its back, spread its wings, and emitted a radiant glow, striking at that wolf head.

However, that wolf head, with the help of another Sun, easily blocked the fire phoenix’s attack and took the opportunity to pounce forward, biting down a few clusters of fire feathers.

The Sun, transformed by the fire phoenix, trembled for a moment, scattering a rain of falling fire, and various corners of the world immediately erupted with multiple magical pulse phenomena.

”It’s Skur.”

Vice Principal Ruoyu squinted, looked at that black wolf head, tightened his grip on the silver wolf-headed cane in his hand, and said softly, ”Fenrir has only these two promising children... With Skur here, Hati must not be far away. Both brothers have become big wizards, Emma can’t cope with them alone, taking one against three.”

The deputy head of the Divination Group frowned, took out a bamboo scroll law book from his robe, and was about to unfold it when a cluster of green fire blossomed beside him.

The old wizard released the fingers pinching his beard and grabbed onto that cluster of green fire with his skinny hand.

After a moment, he nodded slightly and looked at the two vice principals: ”Master Fang has already arranged for Luofan to go up and assist. His true form, Heavenly Dog, belongs to Namgong Vermilion Bird, complementing Professor Emma perfectly.”

Before the words fell, the world resounded with a series of continuous ’liu liu’ sounds, and a small dog, resembling a raccoon with a white head, leaped from the Black Prison Castle, swiftly entering the blue sky, transforming into a massive giant dog, roaring as it charged towards that wolf head.

The dynamic balance between the two Suns was restored.

The deputy head of the Divination Group silently retreated.

Vice Principal Shi Hui lifted her head, watched the stalemate between the Heavenly Dog and the Giant Wolf, then withdrew her gaze back towards the outside of the city, observing the wedge-shaped flying land that was driven into the Black Prison Castle during the changes of heaven and earth, she sighed softly after a long time:

”Still too risky.”

As she spoke, she glanced sideways at Vice Principal Ruoyu, sneering, ”Usually everyone thinks I am reckless and arbitrary... Today, it seems you are much bolder than I am. Truly an interesting matter.”

Vice Principal Ruoyu remained calm, caressing the wolf head on his cane, replying in a low voice, ”Boldness and caution are not contradictory. If we don’t sell a flaw, the Fog probably would never have the courage to rush to the bottom of the inner castle wall.”

To either side of the wedge-shaped flight land.

On the castle walls, which seemed like cliffs, hunting teams were being swiftly integrated into the new defense system under the Divination Group’s dispatch. In the distance, the cries of some young wizards could faintly be heard:

”Unnamed white fog emerged inside the wedge-shaped flight land!”

”Detection magic is ineffective! But intense space magic reactions can be detected!”

”A visible green phosphorescence can be observed within the white fog, determined to be a non-natural phenomenon!”

...

”Finally arrived.”

On the side of the fortress, Professor Yao took a deep breath, smoked through the tobacco in his pipe in one go, then exhaled a series of dense smoke rings, revealing a grim smile at the corner of his mouth, and two jet-black little eyes gleaming with unknown colors in the sunlight:

”The damned Mist remains as foolish as ever! Hopefully, this time there’re enough crewmen aboard the Mist Ship... It is said that the Xuanhuang Wood exhausts vitality after bearing fruit, desperately needing some fertilizer as replenishment.”
