High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1672: Chapter 416 Transforming Wood

”If this monster were to wield a wolf fang club, perhaps the threat to the ancient castle would be even greater.”

”The wooden staff in its hand is no small threat either...”

”I wonder where it will strike its first blow... Truly unnerving.”

”I’m about to suffocate.”

Several young wizards stood at the edge of the broken city wall, clutching their law books, cautiously watching the Kotos Giant forcibly prying open the cracks below the wall, while whispering softly.

In the sky, the two suns grew increasingly dazzling.

The air was filled with a scorching atmosphere, whether from the dry climate of the Black Prison or the emotional resonance among the hearts of men. Across the entire battlefield, whether wizard or demon, most of the attention was fixated on the giant standing at the crucial node of the battle.

Destroying it would separate the four great demon ships that had penetrated the Black Prison Castle from the main forces of the Demon Alliance Army, and it would be obvious that it could disrupt their planned offensive.

Letting it remain there would not only cause sustained damage to the defensive system of the outer castle of Black Prison Castle but also pose a massive threat to the nine big wizards who had already engaged in battle outside the castle and to a considerable number of hunting teams at their sides and rear.

It was like someone held a sharp knife against the heart.

The nine big wizards guarding the outer castle, several had already turned their attention back, considering whether to first eliminate this major threat; within the main castle, the four academies standing off against that fog, several vice deans cautiously approached the giant while communicating with the divination group, figuring out how to expel or destroy the monster with minimal harm to the defensive system.

The double pressure fell heavily upon the Kotos Giant, and even if its intelligence was currently in a semi-chaotic state and its strength was formidable, it could not ignore the enormous danger it faced.

Its beast-like instinct continuously warned the giant to flee this land of death as soon as possible.

Yet the giant advanced instead of retreating.

”KOTOS!!!”

It roared, a sound that seemed capable of tearing the firmament, with dozens of arms propping against the broken walls exerting force, the muscles that had already bulged were pulled taut by countless blue veins into countless small blocks, surging with momentum, as if it could shatter the outer castle walls like breaking cloth in the next moment.

In response, the outer castle’s defensive magic array suddenly shone brightly, and the hundreds of wizards on either side of the broken walls, already forming an array, cast reinforcement spells in unison.

”The gates are wide open.”

Among the nine big wizards in the outer castle, the sword-wielder looked back at the back of the Kotos Giant and murmured, pinching a spell technique with a slight twitch of the fingers.

The flying sword that was clearing the tentacles hanging from Leviathan suddenly turned sharply, transforming into a cyan streak of light, heading straight for the back of the Kotos Giant.

Due to its speed, the flying sword left behind vortex-like air spirals, accompanying violent explosion sounds resembling thunder, echoing across the battlefield.

No one doubted the power of that flying sword.

Just as no one would doubt that after the sun rises, the Spiritual Machine of Black Prison is gradually depriving the wizards of their complete control over this world.

The next instant.

Dozens of watchful eyes did not see the flying sword penetrate the Kotos Giant’s back and chest, creating a large cavity, but rather dozens of thick tendrils, like pillars, descending from the sky, landing in succession on the flying sword’s path towards the giant.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

The enormous tendrils were like pillars of flesh, yet as hard as the toughest rock, easily sliced by the flying sword that came with a thunderous roar, ultimately stopping a mere kilometer away from the Kotos Giant.

From above, in the gradually dispersing clouds, came a thunderous roar from the dark beast Leviathan: ”Le...vi...a...than...”

Although these were just a few simple syllables, all present, whether wizards or demons, could clearly sense the meaning behind those sounds—it meant to hinder the Kotos Giant, one must first address the opponent on the front battlefield!

This massive roar seemed to beat the drums of attack, and the moderately calm battlefield sky suddenly erupted with chaotic roars.

Gray-white spirits surged like a tide from the rear of the battlefield, leaving a blank landscape in their wake; the Sauron’s Eyes, brimming with spirit, widened their pupils, shooting out beams of death magic; insect monsters, descending from the sky, curled into balls like bullets, hurled by the prisoners of the Black Prison World towards the city wall, then unfurling midair, baring menacing claws and sharp teeth, tearing at everything they encountered.

Realizing the approach was futile, the sword-wielding big wizard sighed and shook their head toward their companions, retracting the flying sword, which then split into hundreds or thousands of cyan rainbows, striking at the barrage of ’cannonballs’ hitting the city wall.

The simplest and fastest approach failing did not mean the wizards were helpless against the Kotos Giant.

The giant ape, which had been intently watching Behemoth, looked away, leaping high like a mountain lifting off the ground, but landed lightly, hardly disturbing the dust.

It fell between the pagoda-like big wizard and the giant coffin-like big wizard, scanning left and right, until the chains bound to the giant coffin clinked in displeasure. The giant ape scratched its head apologetically and grabbed the pagoda.

Just then, several heads on the Kotos Giant standing at the broken wall slowly turned around, looked behind, and burst into joyful laughter: ”Ko...tos!!!”

Amidst laughter, two arms wielding a massive wooden club rose high, then struck downward with a speed like a lightning strike.

Crack!!

The earth groaned in agony, and spider-web-like cracks spread out from the wooden club’s center in all directions, nearly shaking the defenses of the outer layers of the castle once more.

The wizards’ chants grew louder, raising layers of halos, finally stabilizing the walls on either side once again.

”KOTOS!!” The giant, hands grasping the wooden club, knelt with one knee on the cracked earth, other arms still supporting the cracks in the broken walls, yet the many heads uniformly looked at the wooden club, a momentary clarity in their clouded single eyes, with an unusually pious expression:

”KOTOS!!”

It prayed respectfully and sincerely, its entire body painted in the scorched yellow of the wooden club. The earth continued to tremble without ceasing, the magic power and Spiritual Machine that had been surging due to the sun’s rise gradually calmed and converged toward the base of the massive wooden club.

The color surrounding the club changed from scorched yellow to scorched black, then to blue-black, then to blue-gray, and finally, it took on a shade tinged with a hint of blue, resembling the color of a freshly sprouted seedling—perhaps this was the first great tree born in the Black Prison World after its rebirth in this world.

”KOTOS...”

The continuous prayers from the giant’s numerous heads grew quieter, its figure remained imposing, yet beneath the constantly growing and thickening new tree, its form appeared increasingly insignificant.
