Chapter 1668: Chapter 412: The Splendid Desolation

From the sky fell solar rain.

A single golden raindrop pierced the night sky, striking the dry earth, and raising a ring of golden ripples, as if a brush soaked in gold dust swept the area, transforming it to the color of day.

The solar rain poured down in torrents.

Countless slender golden lines descended from the sky, slicing the heavy black backdrop into countless fragments.

At the ends of the golden threads, countless raindrops hit the ground, creating endless circles of golden ripples, painting the whole world white.

The Black Prison World had gone too long without sunlight, so whether it was the prisoners or the withered trees in this world, they were somewhat confused by the sudden change.

Like snow and ice meeting hot water, or butter scorching under fierce flames, the strange colors remaining on the surface melted away under the light, and the tree yao who were originally slow moved within the sunlight, shrieking, their branches shrank, emitting green smoke, fleeing in panic, burrowing underground, leaving a myriad of holes across the barren land.

Pale, withered, and desolate.

Under the newborn sunlight, the earth, sand, strange stones, dead trees, and even the distant mountains and the skeletons of spirits were all smeared in light gold sunlight, presenting a sickly pallor.

The entire world swept away the previous ink-like darkness, now bright with excitement, appearing both splendid and desolate.

But in any case, transitioning from night to day is a great progress.

Zheng Qing raised his hand.

The newly born breeze was soft and gentle, trembling as it brushed across his fingertips, with a slight numbing sensation of static, filled with the force of life.

”Wow, it’s really beautiful.”

Jiang Yu lifted his head, watching the golden sunlight caress the earth, bathing every corner of this world in brightness, softly exclaiming, ”It feels just like a dream.”

”I once heard this saying,” Zheng Qing, holding the charm gun, also gazed upwards, watching the two suns compete in the depths of the sky, murmured, ”an image from a dream seen by one person is an illusion; if two people dream of the same scene, it’s a coincidence; if three people see the same dream, it’s reality... I see the suns, now tell me, what do you see?”

”Two suns.”

”Two suns rising in the Black Prison.”

Jiang Yu and Zhu Si echoed their answers. As expected by Zheng Qing, though the three had slightly different interpretations, the scenes they described were identical.

The warlock nodded, ”So we are not trapped in an illusory world, nor dreaming... two suns have really risen in the Black Prison. This world has a new day.”

As if a blind man sees light for the first time after being blind for ages.

Zheng Qing felt a strange sense of novelty; the V-shaped shadow born because of the two suns at his feet was so new, the sunlit earth evaporating sheets of pale mist was new, even the pits in the soil corroded by strange colors were, in the warlock’s eyes, extraordinarily new.

A shadow darted from the pale white mist, interrupting the warlock’s thoughts.

Just as Zheng Qing raised the charm gun in his hand, he saw a familiar figure.

”Hurry!”

The black cat flipped and landed, scanning the surroundings. The withered woods that originally dominated here had disappeared without a trace, and the wasteland was filled with large and small pits left by their escape. Further away, under the intertwined gold and red sky, a giant dragon standing between heaven and earth, made of bizarre colours, continued to coil tirelessly.

Sunlight steamed off the strange colors, raising mists.

The black cat withdrew its gaze and shouted again at the two young wizards, ”Quickly! Once He regains consciousness, once they adjust to the light, it’ll be hard for you to escape!”

As it spoke, it expanded to several meters in height, and at the same time crouched down.

Zheng Qing looked at the black cat’s ruby-like transparent eyes, nodded, and climbed onto its back first, then opened the law book, recited a spell, summoning several resilient vines to create a ladder for the witch to climb up.

As for Zhu Si, clinging behind the witch like an octopus, resembling a human-shaped backpack.

Using vines as reins and vine mats as the saddle, before the two young wizards had settled, the black cat rose abruptly and took off running. The whistling wind sliced past Zheng Qing’s ears, the warlock squinting, studying the direction the black cat was headed, realizing something only after a moment had passed.

”Where is the Black Prison Castle?!”

He looked around, brightness in all directions, the point of light in the darkness that had served as a lighthouse guiding them was now completely swallowed by the boundless daylight.

The black cat, head down, sprinted wildly, rushing several miles in a moment, Zheng Qing’s shout torn as it escaped his throat, shredded by the raging wild winds around.

Yet, due to the proximity of the warlock’s shouting to the black cat’s ears, the question still reached it.

The black cat remained unfazed, continuing to sprint, leaping over dozens of mountain heads, until the giant dragon constructed from strange colors and traversing heaven and earth became a thin line, completely disappearing behind a large mountain, only then did it slow down, panting a few breaths.

The wind noise gradually subsided.

Zheng Qing finally raised his head embedded in the black cat’s neck, spat out a few cat hairs accidentally bitten, and after a moment regained his composure, irritatedly shouted, ”Can you give a hint before running off... my charm gun nearly fell along the way!”

Fortunately, Jiang Yu adeptly raised a hand, casting a Binding Spell to attach the charm gun that was about to fly away onto the warlock’s back.

The black cat snorted, turned its head, glancing sideways at the warlock, ”Your charm gun? Best throw it away soon... honestly, practicing magic and spells diligently is enough, the blood curse bullets are cunning shortcuts.”

Zheng Qing slightly frowned, sensing some implications in the black cat’s words.

Before he could inquire further, Jiang Yu whispered in surprise, ”Why do I feel... we’ve been here before?”

The black cat and Zheng Qing froze at the revelation, studying their surroundings carefully; though they had been journeying through the darkness for a while, guided by ’Little Star’s’ summoned starlight, they still retained some impression of the environment.

Zheng Qing observed certain marks left at the mountain foot, his eye twitching, taking a glance at the black cat, softly said, ”Are we going the wrong way?”

The black cat’s face stiffened, the whiskers at its mouth drooping, muttering fragmented words, ”No way... I followed the direction of the strongest magical fluctuations... theoretically... shouldn’t be like this...”

Zheng Qing grabbed the soft fur on the black cat’s neck, pulling hard, exclaiming, ”Enough with the theories! The sky of the Black Prison is bright! We must find the Black Prison Castle quickly!”

”Then where do you suggest we run!” The black cat, irritated, flicked its ears.

Zheng Qing hesitated a few seconds, reflexively touching the charm gun in his hand. On the gun body, those few yellow windmill-shaped runes slowly spun twice, then Zheng Qing noticed a breeze brushing the soft fur on the black cat’s back.

”Run with the wind.” The warlock smacked a fist into the palm, making his final decision, ”Without a lighthouse, and the magical power of this world in turmoil, we can only rely on the wind born with light.”

”Where the wind blows must be related to where the light was born!”
