High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1676: Chapter 420 Pure Power

”The extreme of power, it will cause space to distort.”

On a tower at the edge of the outer fortress, Old Verne watched the two increasingly massive figures in the center of the battlefield, squinting his eyes as if adapting to the blurred and distorted sight, and murmured, as if talking to himself, or like giving a lecture to his students:

”...It’s like a piece of taut thin cloth, placing a heavy lead ball in its center, the cloth will be pressed into a smooth curve by the lead ball... Space is that piece of cloth, Gongsun Bing, Behemoth, even including those two monkeys, all belong to the lead ball... It’s just that the size of the lead balls differs, and so does the degree of spatial distortion.”

”And those poor demons surrounding the lead ball are like a few soybeans dropped on this piece of cloth, rolling along the smooth curve towards the lead ball...”

...

”Crackle!”

Like raindrops falling on rocks, those demons ’rolling towards’ the zombie were crushed by the heavy pressure before they got close to those fists, bursting into pieces of blood flowers in mid-air.

Only a slight sound remained.

The heavy lead ball rolled on the stone grinder, grinding a few soybeans into dust.

”Sir, if one circled a spiral curve around that lead ball—or say, circled around Representative Gongsun, or the center of power—to extend the impact distance, would there be a chance to avoid the fate of crashing into those fists?”

A witch sat cross-legged on the blue stone slab behind the battlements, combing an old dog May, as she looked up curiously and asked Old Verne.

”Good idea.”

The old man stroked his beard, laughed heartily a few times: ”But no one can resist the call of power, just like no one can find a straight path in distorted space... When you truly face that kind of power, you think you’re circling, but you don’t know you’re heading straight towards the lead ball.”

”Alright, Lily, don’t get distracted while on duty.” Another slightly shorter witch, standing between the battlements and looking out at the battlefield, turned her head and gave her companion a reproachful look: ”We came back from the New World to school, not for a vacation.”

”Those guys haven’t climbed up yet.” The witch called Lily mumbled, finally rubbing May’s chubby neck: ”...This counts as a proper adjustment.”

Behind the two witches, a tall warlock crossed his arms, tilted his head, and glanced at Old Verne: ”Old Grandpa, leave this to us young people, just go inside the tower and have some tea... and take this dog with you.”

Saying that, he glanced at May, raised his hand to scratch his chin:

”...It was already this old when I was in school, I didn’t expect it to still be alive now. Do us a favor, take this dog in too, don’t let the younger generation in the school look down on their predecessors, being unable to even take care of a pet.”

Old Verne rolled his eyes, nostrils flaring at the boisterous warlock: ”Boastful guy, when we were hunting demons, you all weren’t even cells... Is there any difference between inside the tower or on the walls? There’s no absolutely safe place on the battlefield... You young ones just take care of yourselves... This dog definitely has more luck than you!”

May did not angrily bark at the self-assured warlock, it merely stood up silently, shook its flabby body, and slowly walked to the warlock’s feet, then lifted its back leg and peed.

”Pfft!”

The two witches burst into laughter.

The tall warlock jumped in rage.

Lord May nonchalantly wagged its tail, not worried at all about being kicked.

...

Several frenzied demons shrieked sharply, waving their claws in mid-air, attempting to shred the zombie hundreds of meters away into pieces of meat.

But immediately, they were shredded by the strands of force escaping from the zombie’s clenched fists.

Gongsun Bing’s eyes flashed with a trace of crimson, his mouth slowly curling up into a big smile.

”Ha!”

He exhaled forcefully, the bluish-black muscles on his arms bulging, and the raised fists fiercely smashed towards the void in front of him. In the distance, at the breached wall, the burning large willow groaned ominously, its branches tugged by this force, swaying towards the outside of the wall; on the walls to the left and right, intense colors flickered, showing the effect of external pressure on the Protect Legal Formation.

As for the demons a bit closer to the zombie, who were originally struggling and could slow their roll on the ground, in the instant those fists came crashing down, they were horrified to find that the steep slope turned into a bottomless abyss.

The bottom of the abyss was still those giant fists.

And they could only wail miserably, plummeting into the abyss at high speed and then, halfway down, turning into pieces of blood flowers.

...

”This is pure power!”

”This is the extreme of power!”

”The force that causes space to collapse, everything to fall, and even light to distort!”

Eris had given up trying to mend the spider web continuously torn in the spatial fluctuations, instead hanging herself upside down on a thick meat tendril, watching the raging power in the center of the battlefield in the distance, and sighed deeply:

”Why did I choose the origin of darkness and spiders back then... though it’s good for my figure, and not so tiring usually... but now it seems, it never captivated as much as the essence of power does.”

The Witch Demon mentor, The Duke, rarely turned his head, looked at the ally in the Black Prison, and gave a comforting smile: ”At the end of any path, the scenery is equally fascinating... Neither power nor spiders really differ... As for what we see now, it’s not the extreme of power, nor is light being distorted, those distortions are just the illusion created by space distortion.”

”This is actually not the extreme of power.” Eris felt somewhat disheartened.

As a Big Wizard herself, she felt that the undead across could smash her to bits with one punch, and besides binding with spider webs or paralyzing with venom, all she could do was run desperately with her innate advantage of eight legs.

The Duke was about to further comfort the big spider and boost their morale.

A savage roar suddenly exploded in everyone’s ears.

He quickly turned his head.

Behemoth was staring with wide, bloodshot little eyes, charging at Gongsun Bing.

”Roar!!”

The upright Behemoth, like a massive mountain, stood several dozen meters tall. The zombie before it seemed like a dwarf, no, like a copper bean, small and fragile.

”Boom!!”

The giant claw and the fist, even from a distance, collided head-on, within a radius of several hundred meters, demons and insect monsters that couldn’t dodge in time screamed wildly, swept into the vortex of power, ground into minced meat.

”Behem...oth!” The Giant Beast easily pressed down its paw, its mouth curled into a malicious smile, mocking its opponent with distorted words.

Gongsun Bing remained silent, only retracting his fist, throwing another, then heavily smashing it over again.

Boom boom!

Boulders pierced the sky, stirring up countless piles of blood.
