High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1654: 398 Chapter Outside the White Prison

”The claws of this mutant Houdou carry a curse, something like ’constant bleeding,’ which is why he’s been losing blood so continuously. It’s really bad.”

”How long can he hold on?”

”About six hours. Without the potion catalyst, there’s no way we can effectively treat these kinds of wounds.”

”Potion catalyst?”

”It’s the claws of the monster. When concocting the potion, we need the ground powder of the claws to bring out the full effect of the Magic Potion,” the Therapist explained.

Everyone in the hall stood up simultaneously.

”Sit down!” Korma commanded sharply, ”The Danghag Law Enforcement Team has already set out! In such a big school, it’s not your place to play heroes.”

Saying this, she angrily glared at Nicholas, who was sitting against the wall on one side of the hall. Nicholas pretended not to notice, lowered his eyelids, and stared intently at the deep claw marks on his arm. Fresh, red blood gushed from the wounds, and neither Bai Xian, the Blood Talisman, nor the Gan Lin curse could stop the bleeding—only barely slowing the flow.

These wounds were the aftermath of his encounter with a mutant Houdou lord. In exchange, he had also cut several similar gashes on the Houdou’s neck using the Wind Blade.

It’s just that the Wind Blade didn’t have the ’constant bleeding’ curse.

He hoped those who drove the beasts wouldn’t mind the life or death of a Houdou. This thought flashed in the Warlock’s mind because if that Houdou wasn’t caught, he’d be in deep trouble, and Fifi might be overwhelmed by grief.

”Why didn’t you retreat immediately upon receiving orders?” The tone of Korma the Wise from the Northern District carried some frustration, as what was happening now should never have occurred.

When the Houdous suddenly appeared at the side-rear of the defense line, she issued the retreat command immediately. Yet Nicholas and his team, along with some other Northern District Wizards, stubbornly tangled for nearly fifteen minutes before starting to leave the battlefield.

Although this defiance didn’t cause severe consequences—more than ten Northern District Wizards were injured, but Nicholas’s wounds were the most severe, while other Wizards didn’t even need professional help, fixing themselves after wasting a few frogs.

But none of this needed to happen.

The Northern District Wizards were newly established, and Korma’s authority was significant. So, seeing such nearly rebellious behavior suddenly emerge shocked her, prompting her to summon the patrol team back to the second floor of Sakura Pub, and it was fortunate she did, as she discovered the unusual wounds on Nicholas.

Otherwise, these inexperienced kids might only realize the gravity of the situation when Nicholas passed out from excessive blood loss.

Upon hearing Korma’s inquiry, Nicholas remained silent, contemplating whether to pretend to faint, hoping Korma the Wise would overlook these details given their shared enrollment year.

His silence didn’t mean others would let him be reprimanded by the Great Sage.

”Those Sickle Ferrets insulted you, Great Sage!” A somewhat pale, yet beautiful Northern District Witch bravely stood up and explained softly, ”Captain Nicholas got injured trying to save us.”

”It’s not Captain Nicholas’s fault; it’s ours,” another Witch with short silver hair answered with a bowed head.

As the only member of the Northern District Wizards enrolled in the First University, Nicholas easily commanded enough respect within this newly formed wizard community, becoming the captain for a patrol team during the defense against the black tide.

Clearly, he was doing a good job.

With the Witches’ simple explanations, Korma quickly figured out the cause and effect—just a few Sickle Ferrets with nasty mouths on the battlefield, leading some hot-headed Northern District Wizards to want to defend the Great Sage’s glory, and as their captain, Nicholas couldn’t abandon his teammates and ended up attacked by the mutant Houdou.

This secretly relieved her—bearing the expectations of all North District Mages put immense pressure on this young Big Wizard. Her past student council management experience wasn’t fully applicable to the newly born Northern District Wizards organization, making her worry about failing to prevent problems early, potentially leading them astray.

Now confirmed to be merely an unexpected incident, Korma decided not to pursue it further. Ever since the black tide fully swept into Beta Town, she had too much to worry about.

She immediately felt slightly troubled, contemplating how to end this matter simply and soundlessly. Just at that moment, she sensed several familiar auras outside Sakura Pub, causing her lips to curl slightly before hiding her expression.

Moments later, Liu Fei Fei appeared at the doorway on the second floor, and Nicholas anxiously glanced around, already too late to fake fainting.

”...I am grateful,” the beautiful Northern District Witch pressed a hand on Nicholas’s shoulder as her other hand gently brushed over the Warlock’s injured arm, whispering: ”You bled for me.”

”I regret it; I think you could have held out for longer,” Nicholas groaned weakly, fervently seeking the right moment to faint—he’d already caught the sight of Liu Fei Fei seemingly slowing her pace.

Korma folded her arms, watching the scene with amusement.

Another silver-haired Witch emitted a strange whimper of laughter and sobbing: ”You don’t have to comfort us...”

”No, I’m serious.” Nicholas gazed at the blood pooling on his arm, sighed deeply, and decided to be a bit more cutting: ”...Perhaps the Houdou’s claws could only scratch your fat, or even if you bled, you might have more blood to spare.”

Oh no, this sarcasm seemed a bit flirtatious, Nicholas thought gloomily, wishing he suffered from blood phobia.

”When the monster charged, you knew it was coming at me.” The beautiful Witch raised her head, tears streaking her pale face.

This wasn’t the result Nicholas desired.

”Give me a tube of Werewolf Transformation Potion; I’ll bite you down, so everyone will be even.” Nicholas looked at the jet-black ceiling, exhaling—he realized whatever he said, something felt off, as if everything he said was wrong.

He mused that if he had saved two chubby Warlocks instead of two Witches, it might’ve been better.

A tube of light blue potion appeared in his view as he turned his head; Korma winked at him.

”Can I transform in this state?” He swallowed.

”It’s a sedative; you need some rest!”

The test tube tilted, blue potion flowed out, transforming into mist, and enveloped Nicholas’s face.

Fantastic, the thought flashed across the Warlock’s mind, and he realized fainting seemed more beautiful than staying conscious. In the corner of his eye, Liu Fei Fei had already stepped into the hall, and the pretty Witch just removed her hand from his shoulder.

None of it mattered to him anymore.

Soon, the Warlock lost consciousness.
