High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1677: Chapter 421: Black and White Enter the Profound, Boosting Morale

Gongsun Bing’s fists, though not fast, were very powerful.

Each of his punches, like a shaman dancing in the mire, seemed extraordinarily laborious, yet carried a peculiar beauty. And the prey caught in the mire could only howl in terror, powerless to struggle, until finally, they were crushed by the heavy pressure into masses of pulp.

The battle lines outside Black Prison Castle quickly shifted in favor of the wizards with Gongsun Bing’s arrival.

Five-man hunting teams roamed the battlefield, with swordsmen wielding big swords charging fiercely, martial artists exuding overwhelming battle intent and striking forcefully, and a variety of magical creatures skirting the flanks. Of course, most wizards opted for the traditional method, flipping through their law books under the protection of battle formations, loudly reciting spells.

Spell lights shot in all directions, the multicolored magical radiance nearly outshining the light of the two suns in the sky.

The wizard reservists behind the city walls weren’t merely waiting; many assisted the wizard group at the breached wall, repeatedly casting the ’Firestorm Curse’ to suppress that giant willow transformed by the vice-principal’s magic into a ’fire tree,’ as well as the ’Kotos Fire Titan’ stationed at the breach.

Despite this, the Kotos Giant and the giant willow stubbornly reversed the spells on them, and brown bark with mottled green shadows slowly emerged beneath their feet. If not for the suppression from the wizards on the wall, they might have recovered even faster.

Aside from the copper-armored corpses, other great wizards on the battlefield, including two upper house members of great wizard level from the Moon Council, also played a significant role.

Silent Souls followed closely behind Gongsun Bing and entered the battlefield.

He played with a few chess pieces in his hand, clearly black and white. During the descent from the tower, this ghost tribe upper house member casually tossed the pieces in his hand, and suddenly, a gigantic, semi-transparent chessboard appeared in the sky.

That chessboard spun in plain sight, expanding continuously, and in a moment, it covered a range of several miles in radius.

”Who can immerse themselves in the mysteries of black and white,

Round and square through endless cycles of life and death.”

Accompanied by this voice, whether spell or sentiment, the chessboard descended, encompassing the demons within a radius of several miles below, and then Silent Souls plunged in, disappearing into the chess game alongside those demons.

To outsiders, the game within the chessboard was clearly black and white, though there was no player, the pieces moved by themselves. Upon closer inspection, one could discover that the white pieces unmistakably resembled demons, while each black piece reflected Silent Souls’ form, sometimes weeping, sometimes laughing, sometimes surprised, sometimes angry, sometimes closing a book in thought, sometimes musing silently, in various manners, countless and diverse.

The black and white pieces moved swiftly, and in just a moment, the black pieces slaughtered several large groups of white pieces, even the qi eyes caught in the corners couldn’t escape, devoured one by one under the inexplicably changing rules of the chessboard.

As the last white piece disappeared, the black pieces clustered with a great clattering, vanishing into a corner of the chessboard.

The enormous, semi-transparent chessboard covered the sky once again, then continued to spin, expanding, contracting and releasing repeatedly, mimicking the previous process.

The whole process was devoid of any hint of smoke or fire, yet the speed at which it exterminated demons was second to none, rivaling even the flying sword that divided into thousands of glints of green light.

Unlike the two seniors.

Su Shijun originally planned to stay on the tower and cast spells stably.

She spread out a splendid large sheet of paper, William holding the pen stand, Milton grinding the ink. The witch lingered her gaze over the pen stand for a long time before finally selecting a small rabbit brush, which she dipped heavily in ink and drew a white-browed tiger with hanging eyes on the paper.

As she stopped the ink and stilled the brush, the tiger shook its head, then roared several times, howling towards the sky, making left and right pounces on the paper, fierce and intimidating.

The witch frowned slightly, tapping a few times on the paper with her finger.

The tiger whimpered, took small steps, leisurely ran off the paper, then stopped by the witch’s feet, rolled over, revealing its belly, and adorably licked its paws, showing a posture of ’I am cute, don’t make me go to the battlefield’.

Su Shijun lowered her eyelids, glanced at the ink and brush in her hand, then at the tiger by her feet which resembled more of a cat, silent for a moment, finally shook her head and murmured a line:

”Drawing a tiger is easy, drawing its bones is hard; capturing the heart of a person goes with the worldly emotions.”

Upon speaking, the witch set down the rabbit brush, gracefully descended the tower, and plucked a fox tail brush from behind her, transforming it into a large brush. She dipped it in the ever-present blood aura, using the brilliant sunlight of the twin suns, swung it with momentum, the blood aura cascaded vividly, completed in one fluid motion.

As the brush paused, a blood fiend howled and struggled into existence in mid-air, leapt down, and plunged into the oncoming demon army, wantonly slaughtering.

The witch nodded in satisfaction.

With the first evil ghost, there was a second, a third, a fourth. As she progressed, her drawing speed increased, and later, she merely needed to flick the blood-soaked fox tail brush casually, spreading specks of blood like flowers in the air, which would form hostile evil ghosts upon hitting the ground, engaging fiercely with the demon forces.

In a short time, she had assembled three thousand evil ghosts and countless soldiers under her command.

Then she drew a large drum, inverted the fox tail brush as a drumstick, waving her gown’s ribbons over the drumhead, both the drum and dance in harmony, greatly raising the morale, so much that the wizards fighting in front of the outer castle were also lifted in spirit, invigoratingly.

...

”Truly an astounding skill.”

The Duke of Ulrich admired the unfolding scenes in the distance, openly regretting: ”The five clans of the Moon Council, each inherits the ancient legend... They could have been our natural allies.”

”Natural allies?”

Sujade clattered his jaw with a hoarse voice, full of dissatisfaction: ”The bustling world, all for profit; the bustling world, all for gain... You’ve lived so long, yet you still believe in words like ’natural allies’.”

”I just recalled a student I once taught,” Ulrich said gently, his gaze crossing over the broken castle walls, as if seeing the Great Sea Demons confronting the vice-principal and four deans, filled with nostalgia:

”She was a very talented witch demon, though very young, she already had sufficient courage and capability... You know, she had the courage to leave the Land of Desolation all by herself and board that Mist Ship.”

”Sounds indeed very brave.” Sujade tilted his head, giving the lich mentor a look: ”But why do you think of her at this time?”

”Looking at those outstanding young wizards, I can’t help but wonder how many of them could compare to that student of mine... Wizards have wasted too many good prospects... With proper guidance, they could eventually be one of us.”

As he spoke, the lich mentor stepped forward, the thick shadows beneath his feet spread like dark clouds, transforming into a rolling black tide, rushing toward the fort wall.

In front of Black Prison Fortress, a green snake hissed, rising to its full height, opening its mouth and spitting out streams of cold air, forming an invisible barrier blocking the rolling black tide.
