Chapter 1647: Chapter 391: Stars Like Rain

”Shining Evening Walk!”

Accompanied by incantations echoing across the battlefield, over a dozen beams of red and white spell light shot out from various corners of the Black Prison Castle, piercing straight through the gaps in the already-torn cloud layers overhead.

”Shining Evening Walk!” ”Shining Evening Walk!” ”Shining Evening Walk!”

The clear chant reverberated repeatedly in the void.

Strong light fell on the folds atop the Leviathan’s head, causing it to instinctively squint many of its eyes. But immediately, this giant beast realized that those lights were not aimed at it.

Dozens of small ’suns’ simultaneously bloomed among the clouds, bursting forth with dazzling brilliance.

This light caused the demons who had breached the realm to momentarily halt their steps, made the prisoners long dwelling in the Black Prison shrink back, and allowed the wizards guarding the ancient castle to see layers of splendid black clouds, with the edges of those dark, thick cloud layers overhead adorned with brilliant golden borders.

The effect of the spell flashed and disappeared.

Just like the east wind scattering a thousand flowers at night, even blowing down, stars falling like rain.

After the blooming ’small suns’ extinguished, they turned into dots of fluorescent light, like a torrential downpour descending from the sky, carving a bright curtain of light between heaven and earth. Not only did it replenish the illumination missing due to the damaged sky lantern array, but it also further broadened the vision of the wizards.

Standing behind the castle tower’s walls, under the bright dots between heaven and earth, the guardian wizards’ sight pierced the night. They could clearly see the prisoners who had originally hidden behind the night curtain, now re-gathering, see the Leviathan’s drooping fleshy tendrils under which the monster army was assembling, and see, sandwiched between the demon army and monster army, the hideous and fiercely formidable high-tier magical creatures.

Professor Yao spread his palm, extending it beyond the wall.

A spot of fluorescent light fell from the sky, slowly drifting into his palm, like a firefly weary from its long journey, struggling, stubbornly puffing up its belly, finally flickering twice, swiftly extinguishing, turning into a wisp of ashes.

These were the remains of those ’small suns’ drifting down.

They were also a signal from the Divination Group, notifying all guardian wizards to perk up, ready to receive the enemy. Next to Professor Yao, within a cluster of flame, that small green bird still fluttered its wings slightly, chirping and reporting the identities of the invading enemies:

”...The white-haired, red-footed ape demon is Zhu Yan!”

”Five tails, one horn, sound like striking stone, is the Leopard Demon Red Zong!”

”And the man-eating bird demon, Dororo!”

”Baqi Great Snake, Lu Zhiyuan!”

”Qidao Naqi and Qidao Namei siblings!”

”All famously notorious fellows,” Professor Yao said, holding the wisp of ashes in his palm, squinting his eyes, carefully observing those hideous figures exposed in the fleeting light, murmuring:

”...But, where is the mist? Where are the Mist, Iceberg, Vortex, and Mirage, the four big sea monsters, as initiators, hiding? Where is Ulrich? That old witch demon must have come too, where is it hiding?”

As if hearing Professor Yao’s soliloquy, that little green bird within the flame tilted its head, hesitating for a moment, finally correcting, ”The Mirage has been renamed Poseidon, Dean... so now there is no Mirage, that big sea monster’s code name in the Divination Group is ’Poseidon’.”

”Poseidon?” The dean of Jiuyou Academy shrugged dismissively, ”It dares to call itself ’Poseidon’? Truly reckless.”

...

...

While Dean Yao carefully scrutinized the demon alliance army’s formation, searching for the shadows of his ’old friends’.

Sir Ulysses, the Great Witch Demon he mentioned, had quietly slipped beside Sujade from the fellow witch demon faction. This was in part to reassure the somewhat restless prisoners but also to supervise, ensuring that the few pawns within the alliance’s sight line would not slip away during the turmoil of the Black Prison World being breached.

For example, Sky Spider Eris.

When the first tentacle of the Leviathan tore through the sky and entered the Black Prison World, this ancient alien god began contemplating retreat, pondering how to quietly exit in the sight of several ’allies’.

But before she could come up with a plan, the envoy of the demon alliance appeared.

That old witch demon, shrouded in a thin veil of black smoke, although perpetually smiling and speaking pleasantly, had eyes that were even colder and more sinister than Sujade’s.

Eris dared to swear by her divine status that if she showed the slightest intent to flee the battlefield in front of the old witch demon, the next moment, she would be thrown to the frontline of the Black Prison Castle to endure the focused attacks of the nine Great Wizards, serving as a cheap cannon fodder just like those prisoners she controlled to slaughter within the Hell Equation.

”This won’t do.” The jade-colored spider waved its eight slender legs, tapping anxiously on the smooth white skull of the skeleton soldier beneath it, mumbling softly, ”This won’t do!”

”Hmm?” Sir Ulysses tilted his head, casting a glance at the Sky Spider, and let out a perfectly timed inquiry from his nasal cavity.

Who knows how it made a sound using a nasal cavity devoid of any flesh, Eris cursed the old witch demon’s insidiousness within her heart, yet her tone remained as gentle and kind as ever:

”The Black Prison environment is too harsh.”

Eris raised a forelimb, pointing skywards, then drawing a semicircle encompassing the black cloud layers, the giant beast between the clouds, the countless tendrils falling from the beast, and the assembling demon monster armies under those tendrils, she said with diligence:

”This is a world on the brink of ruins... withering, deathly silent, with the naturally flowing magical power nearly dried up... The entire world has been transformed by the wizards into a massive fortress, all the earth veins, all the spiritual eyes, all the lightning and magma, are under the wizards’ control.”

”If the next moment, a spell flies out from the depths of the Black Prison Castle, effortlessly seizing control of the ’Hell Equation’, I wouldn’t be surprised at all.”

”This is the wizards’ home ground, setting the battlefield here was a very unwise choice.”

”The simplest reason, magic power.”

Saying so, the jade-colored little spider lifted another slender leg, waving it back and forth, pointing to the tendrils hanging from the sky in the darkness, then pointing to those tendrils that descended within the Hell Equation, comparing:

”See? Although the beast that tore through the sky is immensely powerful, it cannot take care of everything... In the Hell Equation, those tendrils, nurtured by the Earth Fire Demon Power, are nearly twice as thick as those in the darkness lacking magic power replenishment!”

”And on the dark side, from the sky to the earth, and even the ubiquitous air, not only fails to supplement the giant beast’s tendrils with magic power, but through those tendrils, it’s constantly siphoning the magic power off its body... I dare wager that the wizards within the castle are eager for more such giant beasts to come, allowing this world to linger on a little longer.”
