High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1642: Chapter 386: Arrival! The Demon’s Army!

”The world is like a tree.”

”External thieves are like pests.”

”When pests reside on the tree, they can be caught and removed by hand; when pests cling to the bark, birds peck and eat them; though the tree may become unsightly with pits and hollows, its core remains unharmed; but if pests bore into the heart of the tree, it becomes riddled with holes, rotten wood beyond carving.”

In the tower of Black Prison Castle, Professor Yao stood at the edge of the wall, looking up at the pitch-black sky overhead, and spoke softly: ”Now, the great tree of the Black Prison World has already been infiltrated between the bark.”

Thunder rolled from afar, and in an instant, turned into bolts of lightning blasting overhead of Black Prison Castle. The booming sound drowned out the howls of rioting prisoners outside, and even overpowered the explosive sounds of various spells.

”Hoo!”

A ball of blue flame suddenly emerged in an open space not far from Professor Yao, and as the flame flickered, a Warlock clad in a black robe appeared, kneeling on one knee.

”Report!”

”An urgent message from the Divination Group; the Demon Alliance Army has broken through the membrane of the Black Prison World, several channels have been corroded into the crystalline walls, and demons from beyond may descend at any moment. The Divination Group suggests...”

”I know, I know.”

Professor Yao waved his hand to interrupt the Warlock’s report, lowered his eyelids, glanced at the seven-colored glowing magic shield within the fortress, and answered softly: ”Everything is proceeding according to plan, isn’t it?”

”Hoo!”

The blue flame appeared once more, engulfing the Warlock from foot to head, and shortly after, the flame weakened and gradually dissipated, and the figure within vanished.

Throughout, Professor Yao did not acknowledge the messenger.

After retrieving his gaze from the inner fortress, he looked again beyond the walls, observing the crisscrossing trenches cut by the Hell Equation in the open ground outside the castle, the bubbling magma within, and the hundreds of pillars formed by blood, magma, and gravel, with sinister eyeballs atop each.

The eyeballs rotated, emitting scarlet beams that landed on the external fortress shield, continuously. Ripples of magical power appeared in the void, quickly dissipating.

The dean of Jiuyou Academy sighed deeply.

”Where do you get the courage, then?”

He bit his pipe, muttering to himself in a voice inaudible to anyone: ”To barge into a world completely controlled by Wizards causing trouble...and sending wave after wave of sacrifices in a war of attrition...this is unlike your style.”

Speaking so, he looked up at the sky.

The thunderclaps behind the clouds gradually dulled, yet the originally pitch-black clouds seemed pitted by the strikes, revealing spots of faint white, akin to holes eaten by termites.

Soon, one by one, pitch-black watermelon-like spheres fell from these openings.

As if a heavy rain, with pitter-patter.

Like cannonballs, descending from the sky.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

The spheres did not explode upon landing but unfolded like settled mousewives, their black circular shells revealing vicious mouths and sharp claws, forming fearless squads charging toward Black Prison Castle.

These bizarre creatures with lizard heads and eyes, shark teeth, and Tyrannosaurus-like triangular tails swinging side to side as they ran, controlling their charge direction.

Professor Yao merely glanced at the sinister faces clambering up like ants before shaking his head slightly, directing his gaze back beyond the clouds.

He easily discerned that these little things were here to cause a distraction.

Like two warriors dueling.

If a fly or mosquito buzzed noisily nearby, though causing no harm to the warrior, it would inevitably distract him.

In an expert duel, any slight distraction can lead to catastrophic consequences.

...

...

”Begin!”

The Mist Captain stood on the figurehead of the Female Demon at the ship’s prow, arms crossed, with a white cloak fanning behind him as if cloaking the sky.

Silvery white fog surrounded the large ship, like thick cotton, tightly wrapping the Mist Ship centrally, revealing nothing but the deck and cabin.

Hundreds of figures densely populated the deck of the Mist Ship.

They were the crew summoned back from the New World by the Mist Captain; most times, these veteran crew members formed varying sized teams, trailing Wizards to the New World to raid and plunder resources.

And new recruits like Nikita, who had not been aboard long, were often assigned to scrub the deck for years, gaining experience with the Mist Captain before being released.

If the Female Demon were still aboard this large ship, she’d find a few familiar faces standing at the deck’s rear.

Harry had removed his pink polo shirt, replacing it with a short garment stained with mottled blood; Ryan had tied his golden long hair back and tucked it into his hood.

The brawny Arno, often hung from the mast, still bared his torso, displaying crisscross scars, squatting quietly in a corner of the deck.

Beside him, the one-eyed old deckhand held a Deadly Wind Lamp.

Green light flickered under the hand of the elderly man, and upon hearing the captain’s order, it suddenly brightened, like a signal, piercing through the dense white fog around the ship, connecting to another green light.

Then the third, fourth, fifth.

Green dots illuminated sequentially in the white fog, resembling a pack of wolves hunting at night, opening their fierce eyes, revealing their fierce faces.

In the fog, faint mournful and lingering howls were heard.

Alongside groaning sounds from large ships moving forward.

A wisp of black smoke streamed onto the Mist Ship, along the path opened by those green lights, passing over the arrogant young demons on deck, landing beside the Mist Captain.

The black smoke faded, unveiling an aging face with a cane.

Precisely the Lich mentor, Sir Ulrich.

The quasi-Great Demons waiting on the deck bowed their heads respectfully, fearing that one careless mishap would cost them some body parts from the Lich mentor’s backlash.

The Female Demon’s hair of snakes atop the figurehead drooped tamely into the fog, as if they truly turned into strands of hair.

”Are you sure the direction is correct?”

The low voice of the Old Witch Demon resonated beside the Mist Captain, with a stern tone.

”Of course,” the Mist Captain answered, staring at a Compass floating not far ahead:

”It’s the coordinates we finally anchored after sacrificing a Death Prophet in the Black Prison, along with six Sea Demon squad leaders...their flesh has merged with the Xuanhuang Wood in the Black Prison, as long as the Xuanhuang Wood remains in the Black Prison, our direction would not be wrong.”
