High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1626: Chapter 370 Eye of Sauron

The ”they” mentioned by Vice Principal Ruoyu refers to the staff of the relevant departments.

As Guardians of the most powerful force in the Wizard World, the relevant departments hold a very transcendent position at the First University, and even the two vice principals have no authority to handle anything related to them, except for the principal.

Therefore, upon hearing the Elder Wizard’s speculation, Shi Hui seemed unsurprised.

”Someday...” she murmured softly.

”What?” Perhaps the Elder Wizard was slightly hard of hearing due to his age.

The Witch glanced at him and raised her voice slightly: ”I mean, I felt a very strong Power of Destiny in that crimson glow... not the nearly nonexistent kind found in the relevant departments, but the kind that carries a hint of Chrono Hues.”

”Chrono, huh?” Vice Principal Ruoyu’s gaze finally moved from the hell equation outside the castle to the crimson glow in the sky, calculating quickly with his fingers inside his sleeve. After a while, he spoke softly:

”If I’m not mistaken, a Hunting team failed to return on time during a previous timeline preemptive operation because they traveled across time and space to fight in the future...”

”So, when they appear early at this time node, the missing Chrono Hues Force between their present and past will backflow,” Shi Hui interjected, contemplating. ”This means they will receive double or even greater strength enhancement in a short time.”

”Destiny always has a knack for such things,” Elder Ruoyu mused, stroking the silver wolf head sculpture of his staff. ”Since that goat crawled out of the Abyss, I’ve been contemplating how to deal with it... now it seems destiny has arranged everything.”

”Except for the immediate concerns.” Shi Hui stretched, yawned widely, and turned her gaze back outside the ancient castle to the rune patterns etched by magma criss-crossing.

”Except for the immediate troubles.” Compared to the Witch, Elder Ruoyu’s words were more neutral.

The castle wall fell silent for a time.

Other Wizards stood several tens of meters away from the two vice principals, like pillars, without ears or eyes, and without mouths.

The two vice principals faced the cold wind, silently waiting for the Venomous Snake lurking outside the Black Prison, pondering how many heads the snake had, while quietly observing the growing unrest outside the castle.

Yes, as of now, from the perspective of the First University and the Black Prison administration, the commotion created by the prisoners still falls within the realm of ’riot’ — neither the hell equations encircling the entire ancient castle nor the prisoners, who lost their Self and surged forward like tides, pose a substantial threat to the castle — the real war is still far from beginning.

...

...

Outside Black Prison Castle, the attack driven by four Great Demons has already moved to the next stage.

This is not an evenly matched confrontation.

One side consists of prisoners lacking magic power, Magic Artifacts, and both physically and mentally weak; the other side is the Wizard Army, calmly positioned, needing only to stay steadily within the fortified Protect Legal Formation, behind thick magical barriers, and throw heaps of Spells and Talismans outward.

The defenders, supported by the Black Prison Castle’s continuous magic power, don’t even need to pay for the school’s provided Magic Potion and Talisman. Their only thought is how to effectively kill those ’rioters’ outside the castle.

Thus, after a short half-hour of battle, the prisoners left thousands of corpses and retreated into the night. The castle’s defenders suffered no casualties; only a few slightly reckless Hunting teams, advancing a bit too far, got singed by the hell equation’s poisonous flames, which was no big deal.

Demons have no morality but are innately cunning and naturally wouldn’t engage in such unprofitable business.

In the darkness, the howls of communication echoed one after another.

Corpses of prisoners abandoned within the web-like hell equations slowly melted in the howls, flowing magma silently rolling, blood and flesh mixing with the scorching magma.

From afar, the chant of several Great Demons emerged faintly:

”Based on the hell equations...”

”Sacrifice our flesh and blood!”

”Using the floating bone powder as a medium...”

”Offer our Soul!”

”The scorching magma binds the pulse of the earth!”

”I greased my head with oil and joined the enemy’s banquet...”

”The night grants His blessing—”

”Open the Eye of Sauron for us!”

As the Great Demons chanted together, the once quietly flowing magma in the webs of the Protect Legal Formation seemed to come alive, like dark red fire snakes, winding ashore, coiling up, beginning to stack.

Layer upon layer.

Magma flows, flesh rolls, black smoke spreads.

Later arrivals climbed up along the bases already coiled by the fire snakes, continuously climbing, stacking. In a very short time, hundreds of thick columns emerged.

All columns showed the dark red of cooled magma, occasionally mixed with some bluish-gray.

The tops of the columns held oval, olive-shaped eyeballs, supported by black mist, floating in mid-air, blinking eyes trailing bloody lightning, flashing silently. Even through multiple barriers, the young Wizards in the castle seemed to sense the subtle tremors in the air.

Great Witch Demon Sujade stood amidst the Army of Spirits, gazing at those columns within the hell equations, particularly focusing on the varying sizes of eyeballs atop the columns.

On the skull top of the skeleton soldier to His left crawled a palm-sized jade spider.

The forehead of the Death Knight’s steed on His right protruded a snail-like antenna—like a mutated Unicorn, only the horn was fleshy—the antenna top held a jet-black eyeball, rolling around nonstop.

”Not bad luck,” the jade spider hissed, sending Eris’s gentle laughter: ”Those Wizards in the castle seem to underestimate our Eye of Sauron... and didn’t come out to stop us.”

”If any Big Wizard stood up and fiddled a bit, those columns would have collapsed in a heap.”

The antenna on the Death Knight’s steed trembled for a moment, the eye at the top transforming into a jet-black mouth.

The mouth opened, emitting a slightly raspy yet unexpectedly melodious female voice: ”I think they just find it bothersome and plan to clean up after all our messing around in one go.”

This sounded somewhat discouraging.

But the few present Great Wizards had resilience beyond ordinary, and wouldn’t flee at the sight of adversity. Besides, this is Black Prison; they were originally in dire straits and had nowhere to run.

The jade spider hesitated for a moment, finally whispering: ”The reinforcements you mentioned... are truly that sea demon named Mist coming?”
