Chapter 1624: Chapter 368: July Flowing Fire

I’m not right?

What’s not right?!

Zheng Qing of course knows he’s not right—because he is a proper wizard, not a witch demon, and his red eyes are an accident—but these demons in the Black Prison should not know this.

Upon hearing the tiger demon’s words, he immediately held his breath, and his brain churned like boiling water, swiftly pondering where he went wrong.

The dark red of his eyes and the crimson of the demons have slight differences, generally not noticeable unless carefully scrutinized. Coupled with the perpetually dark environment in the Black Prison, a layer of shadow had also clouded the demons’ vision, decreasing their eyesight. In theory, this was the most reliable evidence of his demon identity.

He had smeared the blood of the wolf demon all over his robe, shoe bindings, and wrists, though it couldn’t completely mask the wizard’s aura. But he had already thought up a good excuse—should these demons inquire, he would say he had just eaten a few little wizards before coming in, and he would talk about it in a seductive and arrogant tone.

He even found a suitable identity for himself.

He just needed to swap Nikita’s role for himself. In front of these demons, whose forms had greatly altered, surely they had stayed in the Black Prison for a long time. As a new demon talent, Nikita should be unknown. Her process of downfall, her experiences spanning both witch demon and sea demon, her reasons for appearing on the Mage Alliance’s arrest warrant, even her preferences and what she was doing before being captured, Zheng Qing knew all too well.

During the time climbing from Dreamland back to Lin Zhong Lake, because it got a bit boring, the warlock poked the female demon with the gun barrel, asking about all kinds of things on the Mist Ship and many interesting details about the witch demons’ Land of Desolation, enough to handle the demons’ inquiries.

Even compared to most demons, Nikita’s experiences could be described as bizarre.

But it’s precisely this ’bizarre nature’ that gave Zheng Qing enough confidence to fool people—because everything he said was true. Often, the more bizarre the truth, the more people believe it. For example, many people believe that capital is conscientious, or that people expect the Ang Clan to put down their butcher knife and convert to Buddhism.

”What’s not right?”

The warlock laughed dryly, mind racing, considering what he should do if his identity truly got exposed because of some detail and these demons all rushed at him.

Open fire?

Or perhaps activate a magic shield and conjure a big bomb?

Zheng Qing naturally didn’t want to waste his precious life on these stinkbug-like demons, but if there was truly a chance he’d be shared by them, he’d rather turn into a light in the Black Prison.

In the night.

Dozens of crimson points landed uniformly on Zheng Qing, even that old witch demon shut its mouth, casting a few glances of suspicion and uncertainty at the warlock.

Zheng Qing’s heart had leapt into his throat, he secretly swallowed a gulp of saliva, and his finger on the trigger gradually tightened.

The tiger demon circled the warlock twice with steps that renounce kinship, its long tail swaying side to side, smashing several rocks, its two huge eyes glancing up and down continuously, muttering unintelligible words to itself.

After a while, it wore a fierce expression and shouted, ”Say, are you hiding something!”

”Huh?” Zheng Qing didn’t manage to follow the silly cat’s train of thought.

”You’re definitely hiding something!” The tiger demon glared at the warlock, with a face of certainty after deep consideration: ”The magic content in those two foods is clearly insufficient... As a witch demon, you must have used some strange magic to drain the magic from the food, which is why you don’t care about those foods!”

The so-called ’magic content’ refers to the amount of magic power contained within those two corpses’ flesh, which is the basic metric among prisoners in the Black Prison World, comparable to ’time’ in the outside world.

The tiger demon grew more convinced of its speculations as it spoke, its tone increasingly affirmative, its expression increasingly unfriendly. The other demons around also began to stir and gradually make noise, their gazes directed at the warlock filled not only with crimson but seemingly also with drooling.

Zheng Qing secretly sighed in relief upon hearing it didn’t suspect his identity, then began worrying about how to explain he hadn’t ’hidden anything’.

After spending a long time under the cat fruit tree, Zheng Qing understood one thing: never argue logic or reason with silly cats, they would use their extraordinarily stupid thinking to turn you into a fool—such as in attitudes towards tails—in front of this tiger demon, although not a proper cat, it ultimately belonged to the feline family.

Logic is somehow consistent.

”I don’t lack magic power.”

The warlock first denied the basis of the tiger demon’s suspicion, then sincerely explained: ”Before entering the Black Prison, I had just eaten several little demons... Fine-skinned Kunlun Species, and over-spiced Europa Species... Now my belly’s really full, I have no appetite at all.”

In the night, faint sounds of swallowing emerged.

The warlock chuckled inwardly, then recalled some of Nikita’s evaluations, lightly repackaged and retold: ”... You may not realize, outside it’s very fashionable to eat ’sashimi’, which involves slicing the freshly captured little wizard into thin, translucent pieces, keeping bone and meat attached; brushed with blood streak, it tastes crisp and tenacious, yet sweet... Dip it in the trendy ’Duonuo Flower’, just one bite is enough to make you feel magical power surging for an entire month!”

”Before entering, I ate more than one mouthful... I ate a full two, no, three complete little wizards! So now I feel like my magic power’s about to explode... why would I touch your food?”

The explanation was extraordinarily sincere, especially the last sentence; because Zheng Qing experienced it personally, the words came from the heart, allowing all present demons to sense a subtle emotion, as if in the next second, this little demon before them might explode.

To increase his persuasiveness, Zheng Qing didn’t hesitate to waste his magic power, flipped through the spells recorded in the law book, and with a raise of hand unleashed a ’Flowing Fire in July’ that required immense magic support.

The surging magic power flooded from his body, along the intricate Spell Formula in the law book, vanished into the depths of the void, then pried open the vast pure clouds above the Black Prison, transforming into sheets of fiery flame, dyeing the heavy night sky over the demons in various shades of red.

Even the white rainbow spanning hundreds of miles seemed a little dim amidst the burning clouds.

The tiger demon shrieked.

The large and small demons once surrounding the warlock scattered in a frenzy, vanishing into the deep night in the blink of an eye, leaving not a single trace, as if the numerous crimson eyes surrounding Zheng Qing were but a hallucination.

That was indeed no illusion, for aside from the fleeing demons, the old witch demon and that tiger demon quietly appeared beside Zheng Qing, as if two stones; if not witnessed in person, relying solely on perception, Zheng Qing wouldn’t have distinguished these two demons from the various rubble scattered across the wilderness.

Swift as a mad wind, still as a boulder, switching seamlessly between movement and stillness. Perhaps this is the primary skill allowing these weak demons to survive in this dark world.

With this sense in his heart, the warlock raised his head with the two demons and looked upwards.

Flowing Fire in July.

Hundreds of fireballs piercing through the dense clouds of the Black Prison sky, trailing long tails of flame, descending from the sky.
