High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1616: Chapter 360: Visitors from All Directions

”There are many reasons.”

”For example, the timing.”

”The demons’ army attacking the Black Prison is a rare opportunity for inside cooperation. As long as the prisoners’ minds haven’t entirely dried up in the barren environment of the Black Prison, they will definitely think of ways to respond to the outside force, seizing any chance for life.”

”Or the location.”

”The school initiates preemptive timeline operations, firmly fixing the causal line on the time fragments of the Black Prison world, enhancing the power of the Hell Equation, and creating an ideal environment for those prisoners to launch this magic array.”

”Well, simply put, it’s like a lantern originally made of paper now covered with a thick iron shell; when the explosion charm inside ignites, the explosion’s power increases significantly...the same logic.”

At this point, Silent Souls withdrew his gaze and pointed beneath the outer fortress at the double arrays: ”Of course, the most important reason is the people involved.”

”The prisoners of the Black Prison do not wish to die.”

”Although they have triggered the ’Hell Equation,’ that doesn’t mean they truly wish to perish with this world and the Wizards of the Black Prison. The demons with the courage to die in battle wouldn’t be captured into the Black Prison.”

”On the contrary, it’s a very clever method of coercion...because they know that the Great Wizards, and even Legendary Wizards currently in the Black Prison, will not allow this world to fall into ruins.”

”They can create a more suitable combat environment for demons while restraining the Wizards’ powers further. If I weren’t in the position of the First University, I’d raise a glass to the demon who devised this plan.”

...

...

”Having stayed in the Black Prison for too long, even a monster like Behemoth, whose mind is all muscle, has learned the means of ’coercion’...Indeed, suffering is a great wealth in life, capable of bringing both destruction and rebirth.”

Professor Yao bit his pipe, looking inexplicably at the giant figure in the distance. A few white smoke rings wobbly arose from the pipe and ultimately disappeared among the defensive magic arrays above the watchtower.

Following the professor’s gaze, Hilda felt a pang of emotion.

Although the distance between the Behemoth giant beast and the Black Prison Castle is quite far, and there is another layer of fortress defense separating it from the castle tower, firstly, its massive size is several hundred meters; secondly, Wizards guarding the tower are elite forces from the First University, including three Great Wizards, watching every movement in the distance very clearly.

Of course, not everyone agreed with Old Yao’s view.

Not far away, a vice-principal from Jiuyou Academy chuckled softly: ”Even if it’s gotten a bit smarter, it’s still a brute...can’t even control its own team...a motley crew.”

These words weren’t entirely wrong.

Just now, Hilda had seen with her own eyes a boar-like monster behind Behemoth roaring, rampaging through the team, overturning many demons and disrupting the entire team’s march.

But only after the Pig Demon trampled and polluted one of the trenches outlining the Hell Equation with flowing magma, did Behemoth stretch out its paw, scoop up the beast, and stuff it into its mouth—orders ineffective, prohibitions ignored, driven solely by violence, thrashing wildly; calling them a ’motley crew’ is already a face-saving statement.

”Professor, besides Behemoth, who are the other three Great Demons?” Behind the city wall, a young Wizard saw the Great Wizards seemed in good spirits, so he boldly asked.

”Great Demons?” Professor Yao glanced at the young Wizard, removing the pipe from his mouth and waving it: ”Not all of those outside are demons.”

”Behemoth, as you’ve recognized, is a naturally born native Great Demon.”

”In contrast, the female demon from the east is a grudge demon, belonging to the parasitic demon type, self-named ’Shallow Jin Ryoko,’ who once turned all the Wizards in an entire marketplace into her puppets and was sentenced to death by Danghag, indefinitely postponed. If nothing unexpected happens, she’ll stay in the Black Prison until her death.”

”The giant spider from the south, named ’Eris,’ is an Evil God caught by the Xianqin hunting group while exploring a New World, residing in the depths of that world’s endless Abyss, with chaotic, evil divine status and domains like domination, night, Dark Elves, murder, evil, etc.; her followers still retain many primitive blood sacrifice practices...She was once a top Legendary Wizard-level entity, but Xianqin couldn’t destroy her origin, so they sent her to the Black Prison.”

”Having been imprisoned for so long, her divine power has degraded to Great Wizard level, though she seems much clearer now without the interference of blood sacrifices.”

”As for the Northern one, it’s a Fallen Wizard, Great Witch Demon Sujade, once belonged to the ’God Zhou’ hunting group, serving as a leader of God Zhou’s third hunting team...bloodlust too intense, thus became a Witch Demon.”

Professor Yao intentionally ended somewhat ambiguously on the last Witch Demon, but understandings among the Wizards present naturally filled the gap.

Every Fallen Witch Demon was once a fellow, comrade, partner of the Wizards, even though carving out demons and exorcising evil led to being tainted and fallen, ultimately it was mixed with some feelings of sympathy.

Thus related discussions often become taboo.

But hearing the term ’God Zhou,’ many young Wizards behind the wall, including Hilda, displayed a sense of shock in their gazes.

The God Zhou hunting group, comparable to the Xianqin hunting group, Holy Tang hunting group, Avengers hunting group, Xiling hunting group, and other top-tier hunting groups, has hunted hundreds of Great Demons and cleared numerous New Worlds, with Legendary Wizards present within. They are organizations admired by many young Hunters.

That even members of such a powerful hunting group could fall and become Witch Demons made the young Wizards present increasingly heavy-hearted.

Moreover, among the New World hunting team recently recruited by the First University, many belong to God Zhou. Yet who knows how they feel seeing their hunting group’s predecessors rampaging outside the Black Prison Castle.

Apparently sensing the young Wizards’ gradually somber mood.

Professor Yao slightly furrowed his brow, repositioned the pipe into his mouth, and took a heavy inhale.

Poof.

”Did any of you notice anything interesting about the prisoners’ troop arrangements outside?” He exhaled a smoke ring, holding the pipe, and cheerfully asked those around him: ”Whoever answers correctly, I’ll draw an Anti-evil charm on site!”

The vice principals smiled slyly, listening to Old Yao’s suddenly initiated prize-seeking questions, and watched the unfolding scene.

The young Wizards’ spirits, slightly dampened by the appearance of the Great Witch Demon, were instantly rekindled under Old Yao’s influence.

A talisman drawn by a top-tier Great Wizard is a lifesaver on this battlefield, potentially saving one’s life at a crucial moment.

Even the assistant team leader Zhang Yu, usually uninterested in socializing, turned his gaze back from outside the city, revealing a hint of eagerness in his eyes.
